• Dante Alighieri : We moved toward the city, secure in our holy cause, and beheld such a fortress. And on every hand I saw a great plain of woe and cruel torment. Bitter tombs were scattered with flame made to glow all over, hotter then iron need be for any craft. And such dire laments issued forth as come only from those who are truly wretched, suffering and forever lost!

• Lucifer : Wait! There's just one last, minor detail with which I ought to make you familiar...

  Dante Alighieri : [gazes into portal, recalls being stabbed at Acre, realizes]  It... can't be!

  Lucifer : You're dead, Dante! You can't go anywhere. Not a single soul may leave this place! It is forbidden! By Him. I am so SICK of you! I will reclaim my rightful place in paradise.   [souls fly out and prepare to imprison Lucifer again] 

  Lucifer : This power, Dante... we can use it together. You and I, friend! Just think what we could achieve!

  Dante Alighieri : I would rather not.

  Lucifer : Dante, I can reunite you with Beatrice! Together, we will rule the three kingdoms of the afterlife!

  Dante Alighieri : It's not going to happen!

• Charon : Though me, the way to the City of Woe. Through me, the way to everlasting pain. Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.

  Charon : Woe to you, O Wicked Souls! Do not hope to ever see Paradise!

  Charon : [sees Dante]  You there! Stand aside from those that are dead!

  Dante Alighieri : Where is Beatrice?

  Charon : She made a very foolish wager.

  Dante Alighieri : Take me to her! My life, my soul for her return!

  Charon : You fool. Those belong to us already...

• Dante Alighieri : Beatrice!

  Beatrice Portinari : When you had your way with that girl, you gave me to Lucifer!

  Lucifer : She wagered her soul that you would be faithful. Her faith in you was very touching. So I thought, "Just the girl for me." I owe this all to you, my friend.

  [conjures the forbidden fruit] 

  Lucifer : Now, let my power flow through your soul. Give in to our union, and together we will regain Paradise!

  Dante Alighieri : Don't do it!

  Lucifer : [Beatrice eats the fruit, transforms into a demon]  The faithful has lost her faith, the incorruptible has become corrupted, the true innocent has given way to the sins of man... like all the rest before her! Who now can deny me my rights?

• King Minos : Who comes into my house of pain?

  Dante Alighieri : One who loves Beatrice! Tell me where to find her!

  King Minos : Hmm... I smell only a traitor, a glutton, a murderer...

  Dante Alighieri : ...SNIFF AGAIN!

  King Minos : How dare you presume to speak with the Judge of the Dead!

• Alighiero : [defeated]  Go on! Use me as an excuse! Blame me for everything!

  Dante Alighieri : You're so full of greed and hate! Is that all you had to offer me?

  Alighiero : I'm not responsible for the man you are!

  Dante Alighieri : And I will not be damned, like you.

  [absolves him] 

• [Dante has gravely injured Lucifer's giant, three-headed form] 

  Lucifer : You are the best, Dante. Many have tried, and many have failed me. Brave Ulysses, the great Alexander, Attila, Lancelot - Only you possessed a soul black enough to free me.

  [Splits his own stomach open to reveal a fiery portal. Dante watches as Lucifer's true form jumps from the portal and takes a few steps towards him] 

  Dante Alighieri : I gave my soul to free Beatrice, not you!

  Lucifer : Did you REALLY think this was all about the girl? She was the bait!

  Dante Alighieri : Her soul is free now. Only you and I remain!

  Lucifer : Come for me, holy warrior!

  [Conjures a flaming sword] 

  Lucifer : Come fulfill your destiny.
