The Great Backyard

Patty and Cathy compete for the attention of a man, Hank (James Brolin), painting their neighbor's garage. It's a summer job, as he is concentrated on becoming a forest ranger. The outdoors is the only subject he talks about. Patty suggests to Martin they go camping in the great outdoors this year instead of the beach. He embraces the idea and decides to have a "dry run" in their backyard. They pitch tents and disregard their home, completely pretending they are in the woods. Problems comically arise.
