Could be terrific show but stupidity may sink it
zunioeh5 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Could be a terrific show except for faked emergencies & stupidity. The fake stuff makes me want to ditch it But the premise of the show is great; Montezuma's people raced to Utah with gold ahead of the Spanish & maybe gallium before Europeans discovered it. Fascinating. As an example of the BS; in last episode they panic & race out of cave due to H2S gas wearing full protection and supplied air? Really? Minimal danger! Panic & running stupid makes accidents more likely. No precautions for burglars with trespassers roaming? Etc. It could be great show just forgo the fake drama & stick with the real deal. It's interesting enough without it, there's enough real drama and suspense if you make appropriate use of it. Yes I'll roll my eyes and groan when events are drawn out or played up a bit to pull in a bigger audience. I understand the possibility it may be needed. But at least make it plausible, turn off the stream of stupidity or only little boys will be watching.

Dumb
celt00714 July 2022
So take a gold prospecting treasure seeking show and pretend your doing it on a type of paranormal hot spot . They actually setup game cameras and some local pretended to be shape shifting into Skinwalker . They actually put this in the show and expect people to believe it . It's a fake reality show for entertainment purposes .Circus folk with a budget.

Update season 3 has some fun moments . Regardless of fake or not it season 3 has some pretty fun entertainment . A prehistoric snake , quick sand , poachers ,.. definately fun.kinda stuff guys like technology and exploring and adventure .

All the hater trolls need to calm down
chompygator5 January 2024
This show plays off of the fame of Skinwalker Ranch, which is a superb show, by the way, but this show comes in from a very different tack. It's way less scientific and ecologically considerate, with some different mysteries connected to the location, as well as some similar phenomena, and the excitement of poachers, thieves and spies. I find it to be a satisfying continuation of a show I cannot get enough of (Skinwalker), but a zanier version. I call it the "Hillbilly Version of Skinwalker" when I describe it to others I'm recommending it to. The accredited professionals they have aiding their search on this show are real and serious about what they do. I believe there is credence in this show, the history, and their quest; it's just different. If you don't like it, so be it, spare us your rantings.

Fake mine in last show
wwomnm-1975725 March 2022
I have been in mining for years and that was the cleanest mine I have ever seen. The floor was perfectly flat. Never in an underground mine will that occur. No rocks piled along the rib or sides of the mine. After 50, 60 100 years a mine will sluff off material which piles up along the ribs. The back or top of the mine will drop material too. It all lays on the floor. Finally, when you use explosives to break rocks, they are jagged and rough. If you use a pick ax you strike from top to bottom. I saw something that looked like claw marks going to the side. Finally, in a mine that was first newly opened you blow a lot of air into that mine. Air it out. You never enter a mine that probably has black damp or poison air.

Look up pictures of old mine drifts. All fake.

Enjoyable
mikedbrown7625 January 2021
I like it. Some of the things that happen are cheesy but I want to k ow what in there! It's better than oak island. That show has been on for multiple seasons & gotten nowhere. This is a fresh show on similar content. Starts off slow but gets better. Plus it being right next to skinwalker ranch makes a bit more intriguing.

If You Love
helloimcourtneybrown20 January 2021
Suspense, treasure hunting with the bonus of unpressured history tid bits and like the possibility of paranormal monsters then this is the show. It's fun. It has the right amount of reveal each episode which is satisfying. Don't over think it. It has the potential to be bingeworthy.

I Wanna See More
valbutler-5204228 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I wanna see more. I kind of look at Blind Frog Ranch as a companion show to Skin Walker Ranch. You gotta admit that there have been some crazy strange stuff going on at that place. I want them to find the gold but the journey to getting there has been interesting. Some of the videos have been downright scarey like the one where the trespasser is bent almost in half like the girl in the Exorcist movie and the mysterious disppearances that been happening in the area. Don't cut the show off just as there's a possibility these guys might actually.be close to finding something. The history surrounding the ranch property only adds to the high strangeness of the quest for the gold. Good luck guys!

C'mon now...
whitneyb50513 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
With miles of underground caverns you miraculously drill a hole right near a submerged underground vault... and then meander off to miraculously locate coins with a metal detector in a stream bed, and then spend a bunch of time looking for dry entrances - that will lead you back to the submerged gold? It is still underwater, no matter how dry the entrance might be a mile away. And let's spend a bunch of time on dead animals and petroglyphs. Rick and Marty would be alarmed at the attention deficit being exhibited. What's next, chasing butterflies and bluebirds and hunting for four leaf clovers? Only a few episodes in: verdict - so fake.

The 1 stars didn't watch the show
jimharper-626709 February 2023
Reading all the one star reviews prove they didn't watch the show. The show never once said the Aztec came to Utah to mine for gold. They said they were trying to find somewhere to hide their gold from the Spanish. So, it would make sense not too hide it in gold rich areas as the Spanish may end up finding that gold and thus finding your treasure.

Thus the legend is they kept going north until out of the Spanish path. Add in a lot of old Utah legend and it gets interesting. There is a lot of weird untold history around Utah. Look up Lincoln and the Mormon's.

As to the show itself - it was interesting. I think the producers over did portions and didn't spend enough time on other parts.

Attacking the show because a guy has a beard and dreds once again shows you have no relative substance to your argument.

How to have no credibility - have dreadlocks at 40. Combine Ghost Hunters and Burning Man with ridiculously bad local theater acting. You'll see what I am talking about if you have an hour to waste.

Far better than the ONE star ratings.
k_tomb18 February 2022
I mean it seems a bit cheesy, and so on, but it is very entertaining, and I like the mystery aspect real or not. It is not perfection by any means, but quite enjoyable to pass time.

Getting Phony!
qmccmg19 December 2022
Liked the story until they went into the cave S2 E8!

A lot of the story till then was interesting yet a little put on at times. Then the cave!!!

The cave floor was flat with right angles at the base of the walls! You only see this on Star Trek and other productions filmed in studios! Been in a lot of caves natural and man made! Never seen right angles on the cave floors!

The story of the intruders was plausible up to the stand off in S2E7! In the real world there would have been a weapons in hand standoff especially in the region this is supposedly taking place in!

Not a believer in Blind Frog Ranch!

Came here for the bad reviews, was NOT disappointed
rembuzz-610398 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ho-ly s**t, wow is this bad. If you were trying to make a fake documentary without any humor at all..... =Blind Frog Ranch.... Literally watched this show just to make fun of this show. If the creators were actually trying to convince anyone that the events of this show were real, they must assume that people are absolutely brain dead. The biggest laugh for me so far was when De-Wayne almost "died" down in the cave. Full groan and eyes rolling in the back of my head. Not to mention all of The Chad's blatant stupidity. So many errors and dumb-a** stories. The storyline moves at a tortuous pace and the acting could not be worse I don't know who this show is targeting, the drooling brain dead, I guess, but how the hell is this on Discovery? Guess that sums of the quality of reality TV - always bad, now at Idiocracy levels.

Entertaining & intriguing

If you like gold hunting, historical mysteries, & paranormal/supernatural phenomena, this show has it all. I've been fascinated by the skinwalker ranch phenomenon for years & am excited to see more.

Comical at best
dvdlehnert9 January 2021
I was excited because I thought this show was about retrieving gold from an underground cave that was hard to get to. It's disappointing because it rather focuses on a cursed or haunted land. Every supernatural moment, emergency, or finding is clearly staged will leave you either laughing or saying bull s$&t. It's sad because this show could have been better. A while ago, the History Channel stopped making shows about history and decided to focus on aliens and the end of the world. This show is an example of the Discovery Channel doing the same by focusing on ghosts, conspiracy theories, and false emergencies instead of great discoveries.

Entertaining and fun
osejr23 January 2022
I like this show a lot. The negative reviews must be from people with no sense of adventure. The show is routinely entertaining and suspenseful. The format is typical reality show with repeated scenes before and after commercials, so that's why I say 8, not 9 or 10. Production does need to join 2022, and leave 2007 behind. Having said that, the guys involved in searching for the treasure are fun guys, with real personalities and their methods are unusual enough to provide some edge of your seat moments. Not sure why the negativity from others, but I plan to keep watching.

I'm confused!
rlb-666858 January 2022
I've only seen one episode so maybe I'm missing something. They show a box of logs underwater tied together with rope and want to know if it has been there for 45 years or 400 years. So what kind of rope will last for even a year underwater, much less 45 years or longer? The guy took a sample of the wood for testing. I'd like to see a test done on the miracle rope.

It's like they're not even trying to hide how staged it is.
SativaGalaxy5 May 2022
I only made to ep 2 of season 2 before finally giving up. I can take some added drama to make the show more entertaining, but this show is just 100% completely staged and scripted. Don't waste your time.

Fake
tteddy-7375915 January 2022
So looking at some simple clues, the video footage doesn't make sense. The 'Aztec box' that is the center of the 'mystery' is supposedly over 500 years old. Look carefully at the video. The logs are barely coverd with any sediment, suggesting the logs have been buried for less then one year. Sorry Discovery, please do a better job with your soap opera series.

Eric Drummond - Ian disappointed to see you are a paid actor vs. An actual geologist. You should have stuck with ice cold gold...much more believable.

An enjoyable show
craigcardimon19 February 2022
I like the show. I want to be entertained. I enjoy the interactions among the men. And if someone killed themselves outside of my gate, I would sure want to know why. I want to know who is watching these guys and why. I want to know what's in the box and why it's in the cave. This show is entertaining and I look forward to every episode.

So fake
cammic24 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I thought Curse if Oak Island was bad but this production is even worse. Where do these people get their "facts" from! This group reckon the Aztecs hid their gold in Utah!!! It is so obvious this is rehearsed and fake with all the "drama" of a good soap opera!

Mystery people on their property...hidden cameras...,break ins....all the elements of a good soap opera.

They discover a box of rocks containing "gallium" but they don't question how the holes where drilled!

The last episode had them in series of tunnels full of radiation and poisonous gas....but if you look closely the walls look very much like sprayed concrete....like you see on cheap feature films! Then they discover marks on the wall....are they by Aztecs!

Well there is Frog in the title!
intrepidami1 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Simple to set up a show like this. Apparently you buy a dirt ranch up in Utah, and start a show! Be sure to mention that Skinwalker Ranch is nearby a lot. Get logo shirts printed up! Buy something with NASA on it and craft it into something you uncovered on your property. Hire some guys to pretend they're harassing you, trying to stop you from uncovering the mystery. Get a pseudo Scientist to perform tests. When it looks like you've hit a dead end, have the pseudo Scientist claim he noticed something else. Then buy metal off Ebay and bore some holes and pour the metal into those holes. Then have somebody "accidentally" discover the unique property of that metal. Let the wild speculation begin! Those $50 Ebay purchases will pay off in years and years of episodes! Also you should buy very old cheap coins of Ebay too! When CONSTANTLY reinforcing your Aztec theory narrative, go ahead and show stock footage of piles of gold coins. Even though the Aztecs didn't make coins, your fans are too stupid to have that bother them. I think you don't even have to buy property! You could do this! Claim Central Park is a nexus. Do episodes of "finds" and government interference there and save money! Just let authorities know you plan on digging in Central Park. You'll be stopped! You can film it all. Constantly mention how much money this is costing you! Because TV shows don't make any. That was a constant whine on another show as far back as when they were just using a dumpster and a hose. Of course now people realize one of them owns, has owned, a very successful construction company! Find an idiot in your family who claims to be fearless. There are wackadoodles everywhere who will support your claims to be on TV. I'm surprised there isn't a Blind Frog Ranch Ale yet! It would seem like a no brainer? The success of this type of side show attraction TV is spawning tons of copycats. What I think it's time for is an investigative show that debunks these shows! Networks have the real money to do this! Look into the history of the people involved. Set them up on stings. Expose the BS. People love to be on TV! There's just as many who would love to tell stories about how they were approached to help these cons.

Watching this show is probably better than getting covid
highs-1775313 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I honestly like the show. I do think the guys camp it up a bit and enjoy being in front of a camera but it's moving along and getting interesting. If the whole thing turns out to be a huge hoax, well, that might be entertaining too. Also, I can't help but find the Iridium really interesting.
