Songfest
ctomvelu-128 December 2008
B&B look into the death of an aspiring singer whose remains turn up in a field. Many suspects, too few clues. The singer performed at a local club' weekly amateur night and by day was a fitness trainer who was being stalked by a lovesick client. A fellow amateur night singer was jealous of him. Another musician wasn't happy about his sniffing around his musical partner. The fitness club owner where the dead guy worked had a sticky financial situation with him. And so on. In the course of the episode, we get to hear Zack belt out an old pop tune and Brennan launch into a Cindy Lauper favorite. I was surprised Booth didn't begin to sing.

Hey Bones Booth Pod!
queen_of_drama-345862 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Maybe face away from the crime scene Booth while sneezing sheesh. Hahaha im deceived too Cam. She was creepy and definitely had many mental health issues but calling her fat Pam wasn't ok. Come on Booth you should've listen to Sweets about her being dangerous. Wow a MySpace video that takes me back. Zack has a really good voice. Not cool Hodgins just barging in while they're interrogating a suspect. Very intense tragic ending but before that watching Booth watch Bones sing was so sweet.

Absolutely crazy ending - and the next episode (season finale) is somehow going to be crazier... The writers must have been having fun.

Booth is totally in love!!!
mitchrmp21 July 2016
this is one of the best episodes of Season 3 - mainly because of the last five minutes of the episode!

It's rare we get to see the victim before they die. I wish we could see that more often - kinda adds a tragic element to the story. As usual, the episode takes several twists before revealing the killer - sort of odd...

I loved watching Booth while Brennan was singing. It was so into her during that song. Everyone watching him - then watching the very end as Brennan cried - knew...I loved the way Jack took charge and Angela stood in shock staring...The whole scene was very well done, but I just cannot get over watching Booth!!!

Why are these two not together?!

My favorite episode
I know that I might be in the minority for saying this, but there is something about this episode that warms my heart. I know that's probably weird with how devastatingly sad the ending is, but I love this episode. The music that they chose in the beginning was amazing, especially with the choice of Nickelback's Far Away, which fits in well with the emotional rollercoaster that BnB have only just begun. I'm also just a huge fan of karaoke, so that might influence my love. I also loved the meta use of an American idol contestant as the victim before Booth mentions the show later. "Because of me?" hilarious Brennan line. I also adore how both Brennan and Zack can sing despite having personalities that many people would not assume lives Music. It just shows that music is for everyone and even the hyper-rational can be creatively gifted. I also love the stark contrast of the happiness of Booth as he watches the girl he loves (even if he doesn't realize it yet) as she sings with what happens 30 seconds later.

better than cyndi lauper

Warning: Spoilers
I think it's so fitting that this is the first ever thing im reviewing on imdb, given that this is definitely one of my all time favorite episodes of bones. There's a LOT to unpack here, but here's just a few things i love about this episode:

-two grown men beefing over a nickelback song -FAT PAM (hate the nickname but it is iconic) -zack bursting into song!!!! Dr addy my beloved!!!! Go zackaroni go!!!!!!!!!

-hodgins and zack murder reenactment yay!!

-bones just saying the dumbest, most oblivious things throughout the whole episode -the fact tommy sour's roommate murdered him bc he was singing too loud and it annoyed him. I respect it!!!! #freehim -i think this is the first reference to lime in the coconut so far??? Such a legendary song in the bones universe.

Also the ending is insane. Fat pam showing up to karaoke night and pulling out a gun and just straight up shooting booth???? While brennan sings girls just wanna have fun (better than cyndi lauper, at that)??????? Bonkers. Yet, somehow not AS bonkers as the upcoming season 3 finale episode.

Btw hi bones booth !!!! Ily guys <3.

The Nuts Are Rockin'
Hitchcoc27 January 2023
This is an interesting episode because the non-cast characters are full of ego or mental unbalance. We are introduced to a couple guys at open mike night at a club. One of them is a mediocre singer who rubs people the wrong way. He ends up dead, his throat cut and his head found elsewhere. Enter a mentally unbalanced woman who had a thing for him. She is a stalker. Unfortunately, Booth interviews her and because the object of her affection is dead, she decides to stalk booth. There are several twists as suspects are culled. One entertaining part is before a rather intense ending, is Bones singing "Girls Just Want to Have Fun." Zack also does a number in the lab.

Oh Hi Oh
aloevy-883-8249428 September 2022
Good episode, with several plot twists and turns.

I think the best storylines allow Booth and Brennan to explore their individual areas of expertise. With that said, I wish they didn't always put Brennan in a vacuum. (Ex: She knows who Cindy Lauper is, but has never heard of American idol?) I also like that we get to know a little bit more about the interns, such as Zack Addy's singing background. The storylines in the background can be just as interesting as a storylines of the main actors.

However, did anyone catch the funny way David B (Booth) says "Ohio"? (Time code 36:01) when he is interrogating the gym owner. He says you were going to "oh hi oh." No one says it that way...😂😂😂

Cam question
tlcorsel19 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
So the episode is fine. I do appreciate the lime and the coconut reference. But what I don't understand is Cam is a real doctor -an actual medical doctor - not an academic, like the rest of them , so why doesn't she go to help Booth when he gets shot? She just stands there like an idiot.

Weren't some of those performers on American Idol? Also , since they used a Star Trek character actor, they could have at least thrown in a Star Trek reference or two !

Overall, I like the episode but that's always bugged me about Cam. Does the gun that Bones shoots her with just fall out of Booth's coat or something?
