Born September 1, 1996, Zendaya rose to fame as a child star on the Disney Channel, with fan-favorite characters in “Shake It Up” and “K.C. Undercover.” The singer and actress soon started dabbling in feature films, where she earned the plum role of Mj, Tom Holland‘s love interest, in Marvel’s “Spider-Man” movies. Zendaya’s biggest claim to fame was in 2020, when she became the youngest-ever Emmy winner in the Best Drama Actress category for playing a teen drug addict on “Euphoria.” Her career continues to blossom thanks to recent releases like “Challengers” (directed by Luca Guadagnino) and “Dune” (directed by Denis Villeneuve).

Could Timothée Chalamet’s Character in Dune Be Hiding a Dark Prophecy That Could Change the Course of the Universe? (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Hold onto your still suits, folks! Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides might be the chosen one of Arraki. But what if there’s some dark prophecy lurking in the dunes?
Paul Atreides already owns the big screen in Dune: Part One (2021). He made a fiery comeback in Dune: Part Two (2024). He’s also booked for Dune 3, which draws from Frank Herbert’s Dune: Messiah. But the real kicker? Dune: Prophecy’s ready to step away from Paul’s heroic saga to dive deep into the Bene Gesserit’s shadowy origins. This prequel is based on Sisterhood of Dune by Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert. It rewinds the clock by a casual 10,000 years, unearthing the very foundations of this power-wielding sisterhood.

“One doesn’t come out of the womb wanting to be a cinematographer,” says Greig Fraser, the go-to director of photography for such helmers as Garth Davis, Matt Reeves, Denis Villeneuve and more.
Fraser has swiftly become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after cinematographers after receiving critical acclaim for his work on “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” “Dune: Part One, “Dune: Part Two” and “The Batman.” Variety is honoring him as a Billion Dollar Cinematographer at the Newport Beach Film Festival.
He has also become one of the most influential DPs, especially to aspiring filmmakers and film lovers alike.
“You learn about filmmakers,” he says. “I remember being 7 or 8, writing a script about a war film, and we had some toy guns and army jackets, and we thought, ‘Why can’t we make it?’” he says over the phone as he walks home from a shoot in the U.

Zendaya is back with the cast of Dune: Part Two!
The 28-year-old actress was spotted in two chic outfits while attending a For Your Consideration awards screening of the movie on Saturday (September 21) in New York City.
Zendaya was joined by co-stars Timothee Chalamet and Austin Butler at the event, which serves as a clear reminder that awards season is upon us!
It looks like Timothee is covering up a shorter hairstyle with his hat.
Warner Bros. has not yet revealed its awards slate for the upcoming 2025 Oscars, but it appears clear that Dune: Part Two will be the studio’s crown jewel. Gold Derby currently has the film positioned as a frontrunner in the Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay categories. The film likely will get plenty of attention in the design categories as well.

Denis Villeneuve has clarified that his 'Dune' films are "not like a trilogy".The 56-year-old filmmaker plans to depart the blockbuster sci-fi series after one last epic if 'Dune: Messiah' goes ahead, but he has explained that the third movie based on Frank Herbert’s classic novel, will have its "own identity".He told Vanity Fair: “It’s important that people understand that for me, it was really a diptych. It was really a pair of movies that will be the adaptation of the first book. That’s done and that’s finished.“If I do a third one, which is in the writing process, it’s not like a trilogy. It’s strange to say that, but if I go back there, it’s to do something that feels different and has its own identity.”The third movie will follow 2021's 'Dune: Part One...

There's no rest for the wicked — or for Laika Studios, either, it would seem. With the Oregon based outfit preparing to release long-gestating fantasy stop-motion epic Wildwood next year, their self-described "hardest" film to date, the studio could've been forgiven for taking some time out for a bit of a breather. But with recent months bringing news of live-action Brian Duffield movie Crumble and a Piranesi adaptation from Laika CEO and Kubo & The Two Strings director Travis Knight joining the studio's slate, things have been all systems go over in Portland. And now another project has found its way into the Laika pipeline — a live-action sci-fi thriller from Jon Spaihts, best known as the co-writer of Denis Villeneuve's Dune and Alien prequel Prometheus.
Plot details regarding Spaihts' movie, which will mark the prolific screenwriter's directorial debut, are being kept largely under wraps for now. However, the enigmatic logline for...

Deadline is reporting that Jon Spaihts, who worked with Denis Villeneuve on the screenplays for the Dune films and penned the Chris Pratt/Jennifer Lawrence space romance drama Passengers, will be making his directorial debut on a film that he will also write. It is a yet-to-be-titled sci-fi thriller and will be produced by Laika’s live-action division. The Oregon-based studio is usually known for their animation work and has been nominated for a number of Academy Awards. Their specialty also lies predominantly on stop-motion animation.
While details are scant at the moment, per Deadline, the new sci-fi thriller will tell “the tale of a woman investigating a mystery that took place during a week she cannot remember.” Spaihts spoke of his directorial debut in a statement that said, “This is an original passion project I’ve been eager to turn to for a while, and I couldn’t ask for better partners.

The conventional wisdom for the past few years of everyone in town not named Netflix has been: if you put a movie into theaters, it helps the film down the road once it lands on streaming. Knowing a movie was theatrical and has that extra leg up of advertising gives it that added perception of quality beyond just something made for streaming.
IMAX though wanted to take that theory one step further, so it did its own study: If you knew a movie played on IMAX screens, would you still be more likely to watch it on streaming?
According to the tech company’s own commissioned research obtained by IndieWire, of course you would. IMAX (through the Nrg Research Group) asked 600 U.S.-based entertainment consumers if knowing the film had a theatrical release in IMAX would make them more likely to watch it on a streaming service, and nearly two-thirds (62 percent) said yes.

Jon Spaihts, the screenwriter behind the Dune films and more besides, is turning to directing with an original sci-fi film.
Laika may be better known for its charming animated output, including Kubo And The Two Strings and its debut Coraline, but it also has a business arm which has a number of live-action films in the works.
The most recently announced of these is an untitled project from Jon Spaihts, previously known for his work as a screenwriter – his credits include Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movies, Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel Prometheus (the latter rewritten by Damon Lindelof) and more besides. In what will be his directorial debut, Spaihts’ sci-fi feature will reportedly be about “a woman investigating a mystery that took place during a week she cannot remember.”

“Anything you can dream about here, you can make,” says Jack Black in the first trailer for “A Minecraft Movie,” coming to theaters April 4, 2025.
Then, ceremoniously, he proclaims, “I… am Steve,” prompting groans from the rest of the crew, who have been transported into this blocky video game world.
Directed by “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Nacho Libre” filmmaker Jared Hess, “A Minecraft Movie” also stars Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Eugene Hansen and Jennifer Coolidge. Warner Bros. and Legendary are backing the adaptation of one of the bestselling video games in history (it boasts 140 million monthly users).
In the first footage of “A Minecraft Movie,” Black and Momoa meet piglins and creepers as they navigate the ever-changing fantasy universe.
Debuting in 2011, “Minecraft” allows players to use colorful blocks to create 3D worlds. It has also spawned numerous spinoffs, like “Minecraft: Story Mode,” “Minecraft Earth,” “Minecraft Dungeons” and “Minecraft Legends.

Following recent reports that Josh Brolin has been offered the role of Hal Jordan in the upcoming Lanterns HBO series, we have word on two other A-list actors who may also be in contention to play the legendary ring-slinging hero.
According to Jeff Sneider, both Ewan McGregor and Matthew McConaughey are on DC Studios' radar, and will be offered the part in the event that Brolin declines.
Sneider also mentions that the series is "modelled after True Detective."
Fans appear to be somewhat divided on Brolin (56) potentially suiting-up as Jordan, primarily due to the Dune star's age. But McGregor and McConaughey are only slightly younger at 53 and 54, respectively, so the show is clearly set to introduce an older take on this character and that's all there is to it.
Emmy Award-winning Lost and Watchmen creator Damon Lindelof is working on the pilot script along with Ozark showrunner Chris Mundy and comic book writer Tom King.

James Gunn says he and Chris Pratt are always talking about him joining the Dcu.The 45-year-old actor stars as Peter Quill / Star-Lord in Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy' franchise and Gunn, who helmed the films, is now the co-chairman of the rival supehero studio and is keen to get Pratt to join him.A Threads user asked Gunn, 58, if there is any truth in the "rumour" that they've had talks about it, to which the filmmaker replied: "He's a close friend. We talk about that all the time."Pratt has suggested he could have the opportunity to do something at DC and continue playing Star Lord for Marvel. He told ComicBook.com: "Well, it probably make more sense that I would be Star Lord again."But anything is possible, and especially with James over at DC. Maybe there's something that would be right over there. Maybe both.

The NBC hit sitcom Friends had a separate fan base of its own and popularity that many found almost impossible to compete with. But while the show was incredibly popular, just like the rest, it wasn’t immune to certain generalizations. Something that actress Courteney Cox, who played Monica on the sitcom, had been quite vocal about.

In a past interview, the actress expressed her criticism of the Generation X label and added how this tag had not only misrepresented the entire cast but also categorized them as aimless.

Gamescom 2024 allowed hundreds of game developers to showcase what they’ve been working on, and what fans can look forward to in the coming months. With regards to Funcom, of course, this means showing the work of Joel Bylos and his team with Dune: Awakening.
Thankfully, we were lucky enough to discuss the game in all its glorious detail during a face-to-face interview that covered more than we should, but it did prove one thing to me; not only does Bylos care, but he gets the Dune franchise so much more than most.

At first glance, there doesn’t seem to be much common cause between Pablo Larraín’s anticipated Maria Callas biopic, “Maria,” starring Angelina Jolie as the titular opera singer, and Brady Corbet’s “The Brutalist,” a 215-minute epic about a Holocaust survivor forging a new life in America. Though both films will premiere on the Lido at this year’s Venice Film Festival, where they’re competing for the Golden Lion, they are in most ways worlds apart.
Yet both owe a good deal to the contributions of Hungarian talent, joining a roster of recent awards bait and blockbusters to film in the Central European country that includes Yorgos Lanthimos’ multi-Oscar winner “Poor Things” and both chapters of Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi tentpole “Dune.” While an attractive 30% cash rebate is undoubtedly part of the draw, it’s also a testament to a long history of artistry and technical craftsmanship in...

Recently, Rotten Tomatoes introduced the new "Verified Hot" label to their audience-polled Popcornmeter. Should a film's audience score rank above 90%, they will receive a new badge of honor. Yes, despite the website's consistent fallibility to review bombing, on top of their already flawed and frequently-gamed system, the widely-revered review aggregate is still making steps to gain more credibility, yet all it's doing is further dividing critics and audiences. This heated topic of discourse continues to oscillate between "critics don't know how to have fun" to "audiences are too stupid to be trusted," to the point that it has become a staple in the alt-right culture war.
It goes without saying that critics and audiences perceive films differently, but the nuances that explain why are far from black and white. In fact, there's a lot that can be deciphered from a large gap in critics and audience scores, and it isn't...

“All you have to do,” says author Shawn Levy, who wrote King of Comedy, the definitive Jerry Lewis biography, is to give the plot summary. “If you just tell people: Jerry Lewis wrote, directed and starred in a drama about a clown in a concentration camp leading children into the gas chambers, people say: ‘What? How have I never heard of this movie, how have I never seen it?’ “
You haven’t seen the film, The Day the Clown Cried. No one has. Jerry Lewis shot it in 1972, but it was never released. And it never will be. It is one of the last white whales of lost cinema, like Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Dune or Orson Welles’ The Other Side of the Wind, except Jodorowsky never got to shoot a single frame of his Arrakis epic. It’s been a while since we’ve gotten a great thriller set in space. Sure, the Dune‘s and Star Wars of Hollywood have given us plenty of spectacle over the years but sometimes I want a smaller story. One that connects on a more human level. And Slingshot does just that, providing a look at a possibly compromised mission to Titan. We follow these three astronauts as they deal with paranoia both about the mission and the intentions of the other astronauts on board. It’s quite the thrill ride and you can check out my glowing review of the film Here.
I chatted with both Laurence Fishburne as well as director Mikael Håfström about the film. While it took everything in me not to mention 1408 to Mikael, you know I had to mention Event Horizon to Mr. Fishburne. Those opportunities only come along so much, after all.

Plot: An astronaut struggles to maintain his grip on reality aboard a possibly fatally compromised mission to Saturn’s moon, Titan.
Review: Space is a setting that’s often saved for the big budget, bombastic Hollywood films like Star Wars or even Dune. The setting alone is enough to balloon a budget. Yet I’ve always loved it when the horror genre heads to space for a serious outing. Whether it’s Event Horizon or Sunshine, despite their grand concepts, often hit on a more human level. And while Slingshot certainly doesn’t get into any hell-like dimensions, its focus on paranoia and isolation makes it hard to deny its horror roots.
In Slingshot, Casey Affleck stars as John, an astronaut sent on a mission to Saturn’s moon, in an attempt to retrieve resources for Earth. The narrative is told from John’s perspective as he periodically wakes from...

THR reports that the star of Tim Burton’s upcoming sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice recently told BuzzFeed in a new interview that she had auditioned for the movie back when she was 15, but she isn’t exactly sure which role it was for and hypothesizes it might’ve been for Zendaya’s role, Chani. Ortega explained,
I think it was Chani, I think it was Zendaya’s. But they weren’t saying that. Everything was very secret.
