A great start to the series. The storyline is captivating and sets up both the past and present stories, yet leaves enough to keep you vested. The characters are well acted and well developed. Great cinematography, and good dubbing.

Love Omar Sy

Great opening episode! It makes me excited for the series and I can't wait to watch more. Omar Sy is wonderful. This episode had intrigue mixed with real father/son emotion. I also appreciated that no one got killed in the heist.
Better Than I Expected

Plot: intricate, intriguing and well done. Yes, a little bit romanticised, but still very pleasing to watch.
Actors and Actress & Acting: I liked them all. I'm watching this in original (French) and it's good, so I don't know how it is in English.
Soundtrack: very good and pleasing.
Conclusion: maybe Netflix produced a good thing, finally. Let's see 'till the end.

Chapter 1

Inspired by the literary character Arsene Lupin who is similar to Raffles: The Gentleman Thief.
Omar Sy is Assane Diop the modern day equivalent.
The first episode opens with Diop working as a janitor in the Louvre. He admires a necklace being displayed which is due to be auctioned off soon.
There are flashbacks to 1995 with a young Diop in Paris. His father has a new job as a chauffeur for a wealthy family. Only for the dad to be framed for stealing the same valuable necklace that is at display in the Louvre.
Obviously Diop is a man with a plan and he has a few patsies along for the ride.
This is an energetic and clever first episode. Tailor made if you are a fan of series like Hustle or Leverage. Sy shows a lot of charisma.

It's entertaining but has some flaws

Warning: Spoilers
Fun first episode, however there are minor issues in the Storyline and one big flaw , why did the accomplices of Lupin not tell on Lupin after they got arrested? Makes no sense whatsoever, or maybe this will happen in the following episodes.
4 episodes in, pretty decent

Anything innovative? No. Flawless execution? No. Still, a good watch. If you've watched all of the musts on Netflix and have been wandering around for days looking for the next decent watch, you may very well try this.
I decided to leave a short review after hearing the journalist's dog barking at the antagonist's name at the most unexpected of moments. Laughed out loud. I mean, I'm sure the technique has been used before in the history of cinema and TV shows, but in any case it's a really good joke.
Also, about the plot holes mentioned in other reviews. If I remember correctly, the Lupin series was more light-hearted than the Holmes series to begin with (the books). I think we should approach this show as such. In reality, there's no way Assane could have gotten away with the stunt at the Louvre with his face revealed.

Stop the cheesiness

Unfortunately, no intelligence and fiction.

The fiction of this kind of series should contain intelligence. Since you claim a very deep intelligence level, it should not contain dozens of obvious mistakes that we can count from beginning to end. It seems to me to make fun of the audience. should have been better.
Nice Start

I've never read the books but will get at least one. This is nicely done because they could have made a dull period piece. Instead, the main character is a complex man who has had a tough childhood. His father was betrayed by his employer and put in jail, where he killed himself. The cool thing and something I always enjoy in a heist film, is an intricate effort to steal something where we are let into the procedure. Knowing the way things are supposed to go and what actually happens makes it more fun. The strengths are an excellent acting performance and a clear justification for the crime being committed. I am hooked for now.
Not bad But..
