Ghost Hunters International
redmereadina8 March 2008
My husband and I are DIE-HARD fans of Ghost Hunters. TAPS is the ONLY show that I've seen thus far that provides a scientific approach to Ghost Hunting, free from Psychic or religious use in their investigations. We've grown to truly love the family that is TAPS, and look forward to each and every episode with a fever.

When we found out that Ghost Hunters was going "International" well, we couldn't contain our excitement. We live in England, and know well the haunting and history over here are centuries old. I have to say that we were taken back by some of the veteran cast's attitudes while in Europe. Rob was fabulous. He was professional, and kept things in order to the best of his ability. He was wonderful. Barry, who had guest starred in previous episodes with the TAPS team was one of our favourites, had once taught other investigators to respect entities. Brian who has been through a lot of emotional stuff with the former TAPS crew, had finally been given his "DUE" we thought. Donna, the wonderful and professional "family" case manager, was a perfect touch to this team, and Shannon seemed to have wonderful prospects. Andy is Andy, and always will be.

What ended up happening, I don't know. But rosary beads came out, less equipment was being used, peoples personalities got crazy with each other and with potential spirits. Propery was not respected either. We would make a bet as to how many shadows Brian would see in each episode. My husband and I ended up watching the show to have a laugh. Something that didn't make us feel good about ourselves or the show.

Then again, we still tuned in, and they did have some amazing EVP recordings. We do hope there will be a "reunion" episode where Jason and Grant will give them ALL a "dressing down" for their behaviour in Europe. (*Except Rob- who always remained professional).

Thanks.

better than ghost hunters.
sergioschout15 September 2016
This "ghost hunters" spin off takes you to all kinds of interesting places around the world. The first season team was awesome and i liked it very much. The people "acting" normal" though some woman was a bit whiny. Yeah you accepted a job walking through abandoned churches at night. Yeah you can fall down flat on your face but hey it is a job like another :)

By season two and three there were a lot of people just passing the revue. Some very cool guys and girls simply left for no clear reason. I think it had to do that the team was way smoother than jason and Grant ever were and that the ratings were equal height or even higher than the original Ghost hunters.

However great locations that are tourist attractions are always suspicious. Yes history is great and all but don't you think in the back of your mind that these "places" aren't just creating "ghost stories" to scare themselves and drum up business?

Conclusion: Great to watch for entertainment and if there is nothing else on TV. You will get to see some great places in the world and learn a bit about history at the same time, though some of it is highly questionable ( source wise)

Watching on Netflix Marathon Review
jmbwithcats1 June 2013
I've been watching the show while working from home, marathon experience basically, which gives me a real sense of what works on the show and what doesn't.

I think the main problem with the show is two-fold...

The techniques feel lacking creativity and thought, really undeveloped techniques, very formulaic... one thing I do like about Ghost Adventures is that they get very creative in their techniques, they are always trying new things, sometimes very silly things, but they do bring a lot of uniqueness and creativity to their show, and I find this missing from GH and GHI in a big way.

One way GH and GHI does shine is in likable people.

I thought the best thing about GHI would be the locations, ancient castles and locations with thousands of years of history makes for some really great back story, history, and atmosphere...

But I fond the episodes wanting, they were okay as background while working, but I couldn't imagine actually looking forward to watching the show, nothing really stood out for me.

My favorite episode was in season 2, "Hell's Gate"... I thought that back story was so good they could have turned it into a feature length horror film.

In fact I bet a bunch of these could be made into horror films, just need to be fleshed out more.

Anyway, my rating: 5/10

Pseudo-Science
louiea13 November 2009
Sadly, they try to project themselves as doing scientific investigations but there is nothing really scientific in their procedures aside from the fact that they are using technical gadgetry.

They spend a few hours investigating a particular location and base their conclusions on whatever they experience or capture on their equipment within that short window of time. Not scientific at all. First of all, in most stories of hauntings, occurrences don't happen every night or all the time. They happen once in a while. So granted that a place might actually be haunted, do they expect that the ghosts must pay respects to their presence and show themselves just in the few hours they are there? Shouldn't an investigation take more time? And then they have the hubris filled proclamations that the place is not haunted based on their investigation as if they did a thorough and extensive investigation. At the very least they should be more objective and less arrogant in their conclusions and stop making their definitive statements that a place isn't haunted - they actually have no basis. Its actually insulting to people who might have actually had legitimate experiences in those places overtime. Its like a patient coming to a doctor saying he doesn't feel well and the doctor uses his stethoscope for a few minutes and then proclaims the patient is perfectly fine. Yeah right!?!

Cast
rebelcharm20024 March 2012
This show went from a nice distraction to a train wreck. The new cast is absolutely horrible. Barry and Krissy really need to just get a room and stay there. As for the rest of the cast the British guy gets on my last nerve when he calls the spirits out by taunting them and then jumps and gasps like a child when the house settles.Pretty much the only saving grace of this show is Susan Slaughter and I really think that is because she is somewhat decent too look at. All in all the cast is at best uninspired and they really need to fire the camera crew because they can't seem to catch anything on film. Also turn on the damn lights. A spirit doesn't care if the lights are on you morons.

Good Show, but somewhat lacking....
pirschmee24 February 2008
As a loyal Ghost Hunters fan, I was really excited to learn they were doing a spin off show, doing all the cases in Europe (Leap Castle anyone?)!! I didn't care that it wasn't Jason and Grant doing it, and I was excited to see mix of old TAPS members and some new people.

I saw the first episode and enjoyed it, but as I continued to watch subsequent episodes, I realized it just wasn't the same. It doesn't have the same energy that the regular Ghost Hunters show has. The team members don't seem to have the same chemistry. No one seems to joke around, and they're all so serious when on camera. Now maybe some aren't used to being in the spot light (namely Robb and Shannon), but the others (Brian, Donna, Andy and Barry) should be pretty used to being on camera. There isn't the playfulness among them all, that TAPS has. This team is almost boring. With them it seems like it's just "Get in, Get out". It's all business, which I realize might be professional, but come on, it's a TV show, entertain a little! (I place some fault on the people who direct and produce, they should know better.)

So as much as I wanted to LOVE the show, it just isn't the same as the original. I will still watch it, as they do investigate cool places, but they need to lighten up a little and have fun!

An Absolute Joke...
eric-pudalov5 April 2013
Let me state, for the record, that I am a fan of paranormal/ghost hunting type shows, and my opinion here is not based on personal beliefs.

That being said, I hated "Ghost Hunters International." Not only does it lack the tension and excitement of the original, but it seems that Barry Fitzgerald and co. draw their conclusions from a minimal amount of investigation.

They'll wander around a haunted location for a few hours during the night with their night-vision cams, etc., and chatter pointlessly throughout. On top of that, they don't seem to "investigate" every room or even the areas of the location that are reported to have the most paranormal activity. Then, based on their brief "hunt," they'll prematurely conclude whether or not a location is haunted.

It may be that this show suffers from a lack of skilled editing, something that shows such as "Paranormal Witness" do not. Besides that, however, it really seems that the investigators are amateurs. No repeat viewing for me.

More trash for people who believe in garbage without evidence.
namaGemo7 January 2010
I don't know how anyone can take shows like this seriously? Same old crap time and again, and there is never anything shown to prove anything out of the ordinary has happened. Just because someone can not pin point the reason for hearing a thump noise, does not mean it's automatically paranormal, it means that they don't know what made the noise.

Made up story lines from other nut bags about Hitler's ghost and so on only make this show more laughable as they try and communicate with Germans in English. Whether it's Ghost Hunters or GHI, nothing credible has ever been shown, and it surprises me that these people can carry on doing this despite hundreds of investigations which prove fruitless.

It's even more laughable that the viewers can still believe in paranormal things after viewing so many failures. How slow are some people to comprehend that you can't find evidence for things that don't exist?

Like GH, they also have the fake little light indicators which are obviously lit up by someone with a remote when they pretend to talk to spirits. One wonders why that if their static light meter is working so well, that they don't apply multiple technologies at one time, using thermal, evp, and the electromagnetic gadgets once they pretend to pinpoint a spirit communicating with them. Might help with the believability, but again, since there are no such things as ghosts and demons, they play the hand they got to try and fake out the audience.

I give it 2 stars because it's not that good, but is watchable if you need to laugh at the idea that people still believe in ghosts, and waste precious hours of their lives actually hunting them.

Excellent spin-off show which captures great locations around Europe
DVD_Connoisseur21 June 2008
As a fan of "Ghost Hunters", this sister show is a real treat. Familiar faces such as Brian, Donna and Andy are joined by new team members as they explore some impressive haunted locations around Europe.

While not as much fun as the original series, this is still compulsive viewing with some genuinely creepy moments. I'm a sucker for EVPs and as soon as the gang play back possible whispers from beyond, my hair stands on edge and I'm delightfully chilled.

Just for the locations themselves, this is worth watching. Only an American crew could, however, describe Leicester as "beautiful".

A quality production, I give the series 8 out of 10.

Bloody Camera
steven_clay17 November 2021
You all Need to maybe where portable Cameras around your neck so that we can see stuff that you all claim yo see! There are to many times where the person not carrying the Camera sees something, and your reactions make it seem like you make stuff up, and we don't need to know where your going just go. And too much Bloody Talking and no listening so your fans can hear what you claim to hear. Be more prepared Dam.

Good for a laugh or two
Illinoisguy116 August 2011
This show is only good for a few laughs and that's about it. Otherwise it's mostly composed of watching them roam around in some locale while being filmed in a weird night-vision that gives them evil looking eyes.

In an average episode they will proclaim such things as "Did you hear that?" or "I think I saw something." or "I saw a shadow over there." No real evidence is really shown that really shows a ghost, it's mostly some so called audio evidence of a knock or some voice that is just about impossible to make out. The photographic evidence too is nothing of note as it's composed mostly of some shadow or mist.

Somehow it reminds me of the opening of Ghostbusters, where they are investigating the ghost at the library and when they encounter her they don't know what really to do and run out. Somehow I can imagine the same thing would happen to these guys if they actually saw a real ghost, they would run away in a heartbeat.

About the only good thing about the show is seeing locales that one will likely never be able to visit, and for that I give it 2 stars.

Most boring program I've seen
diverse-522 February 2018
The show starts off with the travel to the location, and then the set-up, where they are briefed about where to look and what to look for. In the second part of the show the GHI crew basically stand around in the dark for 15-20 minutes saying "Do/did you hear that", or something to that effect. The last part of the show is basically just trying to convince the person who invited them to the location that some strange sound they picked up on a microphone is something paranormal. With all their technology and experience they never come up with any conclusive evidence of anything that can prove the existence of ghosts.

Great Show
ginnyv7 May 2013
I really loved watching this show when it was on the air and sadly I have to watch it on netflix now. This show was pretty entertaining and loved watching the different locations and castles. There did always seem to be a castle somewhere that needed investigating.

I watch a lot of movies like this and love horror films also. I think this show was better then the original ghost hunters. I am unsure why they took this show off the air.

The crew they used changed a lot but the new members were quickly likable and enjoyable. I think that this show would have done well for a few more seasons.

This show is great for anyone who likes ghost stories and castles. Did I mention they see a lot of castle? lol
