that laugh drove me nuts
movieman_kev29 May 2009
Two stoner's happen across some psychotic hillbilly nicknamed Bud's stash and in order to escape with their lives they agree to kidnap three woman and take them to said hillbilly. The movie starts with them onto the second, Sarah, a girl who's car broke down on the way to going to her parent's house for a birthday party, while the first victim is still running through the woods of rural Kentucky, completely naked being chased by the maniac. Sarah's dad, Jack who's a retired detective teams up with the local sheriff to find his gore. Genre mainstay Debbie Rochon is also on-hand for a brief turn as the drunken mother of the first abducted girl.

I really wanted to give this movie the benefit of the doubt because I know full well that making a low-budget feature length film is hard under any circumstance, and I was going along with it...up to a point. That point being the introduction of 'Bud', he was the most annoying inefficient joke of a heavy that I've witnessed in quite some time. His constant laugh which was supposed to make him sound crazy (I supposed) only came across as heavily grating on my nerves. The rest of the cast fairs fine enough. It's just Bud that ruined the picture for me. No strike that, Bud AND an insanely stupid ending tag set '10 months later' (which I won't spoil, but it's already spoiled for anyone who looks at the DVD extras)

Eye Candy: Elysee and Tiffany Taylor bare all (the Making of in the extras also features nudity, as do the some of the trailers)

My Grade: D

DVD Extras: Commentary by Producer/Director/Writer Jacob Ennis; second commentary by executive producers Billy & Denise Blackwell; a 15 & a half minute Making of the film; blooper & outtakes reel; an interview with Debbie Rochon; video of the special effects guys making 'bud Jr'; music video ('still I bleed' by POWND; and trailers for this film as well as "American Punks", "A Feast of Flesh", "Blood and Sex Nightmare", "Cannibal Campout", "Woodchipper Massacre", "Ghoul School", "Video Vilonce 1 and 2", "Beauty Queen Butcher", "Splatter Beach", "Zombie Bloodbath trilogy", & "Killing Spree"

Independent? Try more like home movie
thejoo0511 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Let me first off by saying this was good idea for a horror flick, but this was just a difficult movie to watch, and to take seriously as an independent film. The acting was just poor and it looked like it was made by a group of friends who think they can act, with a cheap digital camera, and edited with iMovie. The dialogue seemed very forced, and that I can believe that even the actors were reading lines than acting their roles. Even all the physical contact just looked fake. And the fact that they show every detail just got annoying, if someone lost service, I get that by seeing a reaction and a line, I don't need to see the phone that shows it. I know that we all start somewhere, and I hope that these people keep trying, I just hope that they get better with time. If this was their first attempt I say they gave it a good shot.

pathetically presented movie
shasashu1 May 2009
First of all, story hasn't got anything new or special. badly directed movie, worst acting ever accompanied by ridiculous and funny music with stupid dialog delivery by the actors. this movie doesn't make any sense in whatever is happening in the movie. you need to be really foolish if you want to agree the way things are going on in this movie. the actors are acting like they are not ready to do some real acting or like they simply don't know how to act. it also looks funny to see how these actors react in different situations of panic as if they are so cool or are not very serious or depressed.

Don't watch it. its a boring movie, a waste of time. even i watched this movie skipping a little bit in between the scenes. if u still watch it, you'll regret it. watch some other movie instead. believe me!

Terrible film, Please don't watch
juzer15 April 2009
I strongly recommend not to watch this film, unless one has a desire of learning what bad film's are all about. This is one film which I would recommend to the Students of Audio Visual studies, so that they learn what silly mistakes they should avoid in film making.

The camera moments are jerky, the director seems to have gone on a vacation leaving instructions to the cameramen to film whatever seems suitable. And the eye movement of the actors will remind you the kind of films that appear under the category of amateur porn films made in eastern Europe.

The lead lady, Karen Boles does seem to make a brave attempt in giving some semblance, but unfortunately the cameramen does not do justice to her. Suffice to say its one film she will regret having accepted. One really feels sorry for her. God save the art of film making from Jacob Ennis.

The horror of the film is, in wasting our precious time watching it.

Hopeless Movie...
reacharif13 April 2009
The movie is nothing more than a piece of crap.. Total waste of time.. I think they shot the film using a handy cam, and the camera movements were all the time shaky, needless to say junk storyline... Funniest thing is you will feel, that time is going at a snails pace... Pathetic acting by the actors rubs salt on the wound... I have seen many movies which were total crap but this one tops the list.. I watched this movie after going through the reviews.. But I made a big fool of myself.. Reviews are like opinions... They differ.. But my god, this movie.. The least said about it the better. I think the crew who were a part of the movie, will never ever get any chance to act in any movie again..

Don't even bother to review.. it ... Just fly past the movie.. Goshh..

So bad...oh, it's just bad.
desert_dilbert4 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Normally one watches movies which are less than $10 for the depravity, the nudity, or to just laugh at a bad bit of cinema. This provides you with campily over acted depravity, a few (less than 2 min. total probably) nude scenes, and some attempts to attempt to make bad cinema. I don't think that a fraternity watching this on movie night would enjoy it, not even to laugh at it. If someone breaks into your place and at gunpoint forces you to watch this, save yourself and watch it. Seriously. If your personal jeopardy isn't involved, use whatever means necessary to not watch it. Go visit your mother, help someone move, or volunteer as a bed pan changer at your local senior home. Do ANYTHING else with your time other than watch this movie. Seriously. You're welcome in advance for saving you from this cinematic pestilence.

Pointless
Leofwine_draca13 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Crass indie horror and an entry in the 'torture porn' sub-genre of filmmaking. A druggy redneck lives in a cabin in the woods and keeps a girl chained in the basement. Badly acted, badly made and just pointless all round.

Swing and a Miss
heaterpistol6 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This film is a low budget affair. Two drug addicts try to steal drugs from a sex crazed drug dealer named Bud. On threat of death, they are required to procure three females in three days. They abduct a stranded motorist. They give her to Bud. Then they are arrested for possession.

Bud is seen burning corpses. The parents of the girl pine for her return. The cops gain a confession out of one of them. Bud rapes a girl with his underwear on.

What I liked : The camera zooms in on the faces. This added to the immediacy of what was happening.

This film was a better than average representation of poor white Kentucky.

Karen Boles was good looking and deeply sympathic

What I didn't : The. Character of Bud was pointlessly overblown. Instead of a splashy fat guy, more sinister would have been a thin quiet psychopath, who would hardly say anything. So when the drug addicts obeyed his commands, it would seem to come from more control.

Kentucky is famous for world class music, but these creeps listened to hip hop.

Satisfying slice of rural sleaze
Woodyanders25 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Slimy C.J. (a sturdy portrayal by Nathan Day) and his wimpy reluctant partner Stan (solid Stacey T. Gillespie) are a couple of bumbling wannabe crooks who try to steal twenty pounds of weed from fearsome local pot farmer Bud (robustly played with lip-smacking wicked relish by Kevin Taylor). However, things go awry after Bud catches the inept pair in the act and forces the duo to do his evil bidding by abducting a trio of women over the course of three days.

Writer/director Jacob Ennis cooks up a pleasing trashy good time complete with salty dialogue, a constant brisk pace, a sweet smidgen of tasty gratuitous female nudity, a blithely scuzzy atmosphere, colorful low-life redneck characters, a tight 77 minute running time, a pungent evocation of the downhome Kentucky backwoods environment, and startling moments of nasty violence and raw brutality. Scream queen Debbie Rochon acquits herself well in a nice supporting role as distraught mother Miss Brooks. Toshiyuki Hiraoka's twangy score hits the flavorsome spot. Fans of pure fetid celluloid filth should dig this one.

For Fans of Exploitation
reaper180017 May 2009
When compared to modern studio horror offerings, which often miss the point of the films they were inspired by, Jacob Ennis has encapsulated the exploitation films that inspires him perfectly. Much like 1972's "Last House on the Left" or Al Adamson's "I Spit on Your Corpse" Ennis creates an all too real universe of white trash, brutal violence, and backwoods sensibilities. Of course this is often missed by reviewers who would say, "How dare you compare this to 'Last House'?", the same reviewers who idolize "Last House" not because they understand it but because they believe that by worshiping this film they are to be counted among "real" horror fans.

It is obvious when watching this film that Ennis understands what made "Last House" work. Ennis will only grow as a filmmaker. For those who understand "Stash" and why it has been embraced by G4, Fangoria, and independent horror fans, we will no doubt see great things from Ennis in the future.

If you're expecting the same PG-13, sanitized, studio crap that's being released en masse by Hollywood or the supposedly "shocking" horror of Eli Roth films, then you're likely to be disappointed by Ennis' outstanding throwback to an age when exploitation was not a trend to be embraced by "wanna be" horror fans but by those who "got it" and those who understand that low budget cinema is far more true an art form than what a studio film can provide.
