Stash (2007)
Independent? Try more like home movie
Let me first off by saying this was good idea for a horror flick, but this was just a difficult movie to watch, and to take seriously as an independent film. The acting was just poor and it looked like it was made by a group of friends who think they can act, with a cheap digital camera, and edited with iMovie. The dialogue seemed very forced, and that I can believe that even the actors were reading lines than acting their roles. Even all the physical contact just looked fake. And the fact that they show every detail just got annoying, if someone lost service, I get that by seeing a reaction and a line, I don't need to see the phone that shows it. I know that we all start somewhere, and I hope that these people keep trying, I just hope that they get better with time. If this was their first attempt I say they gave it a good shot.
Lost in Plainview (2005)
What seems like a really bad remake.
To me when I was watching this movie, it seemed like a bad remake of Steven Spielberg's "Duel" With the psycho truck driver. Only now its a cop, and instead of one guy, its two girls.
This movie as whole was just bad, the acting wasn't good, the dialog was poorly written, and it was pretty predictable from time to time. And I think one of the reasons for the predictability is that they started it with the end, but didn't do it properly like "The Usual Suspects" or "Memento" which still left you guessing as to everything else even when you got to that scene.
My recommendation is to stay far from watching this movie.
WarGames: The Dead Code (2008)
Did they make this movie because they had to?
This movie is a serious waste of time, I was hoping that as far as a sequel goes, it could join the ranks of some of the other movies (in my books) that are better than the first (ex: Terminator 2, Aliens, and Tremors 2) but in comparison to the original this was horrible.
Same thing pretty much happened in the first (which could be suspected, new program with a different setting for the current time), but it just felt like everything in this movie was just done so poorly, when you thought things could have been better than the first.
Overall: Don't even bother, unless you are desperate to kill time and paddle ball isn't cutting anymore after 1,000 straight hits
Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs (2008)
I disagree with the people say it doesn't live to "standards"
I know there are people saying that it doesn't live to the standards of Futurama the episodes, but granted you would have to figure since the stories have to go for a lot longer. To me this hit the spot as far as the TV series goes.
What people forget is what made Futurama so funny was the subtle humor, it wasn't so, insert-punchline-here humor, it was noticeable, like you have to see the humor in it, that makes it funny. The characters isn't exactly the way it was in the show, but it is really close, fry isn't as dim witted, and that was pretty much the only character difference I could tell that was so different.
If you want a real disappointment of not living to standards, see Benders Big Score, that was more of Futurama gone drama, the only funny part was the intro, after that it kept a real serious tone, which isn't the Futurama I remember, and when you still watch the old episodes as much as me (3-4 a day) you know how Futurama plays out, and how it should go.
Overall: In my books better than BBS, plays out just great, and it is really funny, and if you remember a lot of the old episodes, it will be more entertaining
Zombie Strippers! (2008)
What a BS movie!
I am very open when it comes to movies, I even saw a real God awful movie entitled Evil Bong, and if I remember correctly I gave THAT BS of a movie a better review.
I know that for me, I love zombie stuff, I even saw Max Brooks (writer of Zombie Survival Book, and World War Z (which is going to be an actual movie)) when he came to my school. So of course I saw zombies and I was set, but when I saw the strippers I was like, this is going to be interesting, something different, so maybe some originality for a change instead of ripping off Romero. So my review started with an honest 5.
Even after the first 10 minutes I knocked that score to a 3, why you might ask? Because even for a B-movie, the acting can be a lot better. But yet it is that none the less, and what should I expect from a movie like this. They even stole lines from other great movies instead of creating their own. The jokes, and well all the dialog are written by people who think they can write because they have taken a few English classes in college. The acting is over done, in other words, you can tell that they are playing a role instead of acting. And most of the time it felt forced. I even played a part in a school zombie movie as a zombie, I could be a better zombie than the extras. To me it seemed like people were forcing their lines. And to top it off, it seems like it was just to give porn stars a slight break into some real acting (which is noble of them but they should make sure they can actually act). The special effects if anything saved it but not much, only in the blood, but granted it isn't Tarantino.
Then after about so long I realized that it wasn't getting any better, but worse, everything came predictable, and it was just so dumb, it became a pain in the ass, the acting which was bad got worse, even the story digressed, and failed to reach a climax in my opinion. And this was after 45 minutes.
Final thoughts: The people who gave this a good review do one or more of these four things:
1. Don't know a good movie
2. Don't recognize a good B-movie
3. Write good reviews with their dicks
4. View that movies that think differently are genius by default
This movie goes along with Evil Bong on my C-Movie list "C" standing for CRAP!
Cloverfield (2008)
A blend of a bad, and s***** movie
To me this movie was G-d awful, I mean, to me this was nothing more than the Godzilla movie, the one that was in New York, not the good ones where he was terrorizing Japan, and Blair Witch Project mashed into one. Thats right, the new Godzilla movie = S***, while Blair Witch was just Bad. Now don't get me wrong, it was pretty intense, and defiantly new way of looking through the ideas of if there was a giant monster terrorizing a major city, this is what you would be like if you were in the mess, and lived that long through it, while trying to save a love interest/friend. But after so long, it just got annoying. I also had a problem with one of the monsters, the little ones that were given off. I'm sorry but they look like the Bugs from Starship Troopers with a more spider like look. Which made me feel like the people in charge of monster design, were effing lazy. I'm a person who loves movies, and can't get enough of them, but for the first time ever, I wouldn't even want to own a movie like this, even if it was given to me free... with a small country in the bundle.
Linkin Park: Live in Texas (2003)
Now this DVD is more than just the music that I liked
If there is one thing you really have to appreciate is the use of slow motion and high speed cameras used in this. It is amazing and adds an element of concert style never used before. It definitely has a style that adds to the music. Not to mention they play a lot of their hits, and best songs, granted they don't play my all time favorite "Nobody's Listening" but they play the songs everyone knows so when you watch you can even sing along. and it makes it amazing. If your and LP fan this better be in your movie library, but if you like just a few of their songs, they might introduce you to one or tow that you might have overlooked, and would enjoy.
Audioslave: Live in Cuba (2005)
I'm an Audioslave fan, glad I can see them whenever
So I'm a big concert fan, I love going to them, but I love this DVD, its nice to be able to see them perform a great show with a lot of their best songs. not to mention you get to hear whats left of Rage Against The Machines play "Bulls On Parade" and you get to here Chris Cornell play a most amazing acoustic version of "Black Hole Sun" but you slowly start to notice that music and the singing gets a little bit sloppy around the end, but you have to keep in mind that they are playing for about 2 hours, so don't be to harsh around the end. I recommend the purchase to any Audioslave fan, or to someone who just likes a few songs, to me its a Concert that doesn't disappoint
Evil Bong (2006)
Drugs, drugs, and one bad ass bong
This movie is pretty much self explanatory, just like "Snakes On A Plane" This movie is these people who get a bong, that is nothing but pure evil, and it sucks in the people, into a "trip" where they are at a strip club, and things go their way, until they get like "killed" The movie idea, is pretty dumb, and the story is pretty lame, but the actors and the actions make it better... I'm not saying the acting is all that good, but its a movie that entertains any person who is a teenager and/or druggie. I never watched this while I was on anything, nor do I plan too, but I bet it is way more entertaining if you are. Definitely a recommendation movie for those who love to smoke pot.
The Tuskegee Airmen (1995)
What a movie!
So this is an HBO special movie about the true story of the Tuskegee Airmen in WWII. I first saw this movie when I was younger and fell in love with it. I thought it sends a great message to the people who watch it. Such as the understanding that no matter if your black or white, you are still a person who can do anything as good as anyone else.
The only real downfall is that the ending is kinda cheesy, like the one white pilot learns the real value of the message. But in all, its very entertaining, and well worth giving it a watch.
If you like WWII movies and/or into Air Force movies, I strongly recommend that you add it to your library. If not, give it a watch, you might be surprised.
A Scanner Darkly (2006)
Not a drug or thinker film fan... well this isn't the film for you
For me, I've love a good thinker film, and ones about drugs makes them better. But this film confused the hell out of me. I had to research this film to properly understand exactly what everything was going on. And the end made me more confused. Till I discovered that the end is how the people that are controlling the "New Path" are the ones supplying the drug. When I found out I was like "WHOA, crazy!"
Now for me when I watched this film, I first started to think that this film is like the cartoon "12oz Mouse" and that to understand the film you would have to be completely high. In all honesty I still somewhat think that. This movie is hard to follow, and you might have to watch it a few times to really understand. But it would help in all honesty to have done drugs sometime in your life, to know exactly how these people feel, and why some of the crack pot theories and reasoning are actually funny. Like the whole 18 speed thing, and the screw coming loose depending on if your going north or south.
But I admit that for some reason, this movie made me feel like when me and my friends made the theory, that the people in charge of drug rehabs, are the same people who supply the drugs in the first place; this movie just showed that we also aren't the only people with that idea.
In all honesty, this movie is pretty good, the animation is great, and I only recommend it for people who have read the book, love thinker films, drug theme films, and the people who like to do drugs while watching movies.
