2nd session sucks
zoghali10 March 2021
2nd session is ruining Mehdi's character Everything we thought about him is all different The writer changed zeynap character too I watch the first season and I gave it 100% now I have to take it off make it 20

Zeynap had big heart And she was forgiving now she judges. she has no forgiveness. She became mean and unforgiving

Mehdi was strong and generous and sweet and now he is becoming someone else

Was great then deteriorated.
jackhd-506204 May 2021
Enjoyed it very much at the first season.

However, it deteriorated at the second season until it became unwatchable somewhere after the 24th episode (as you can well see by the drop of the ratings). The characters changed. The couple were authentic and now became something else. As if it is a series which aims only at feminist agenda goals.

Zaynep (Damet) empathy has gone. Mehdi became a thug and the new character Baris is uninteresting.

Maybe the 1st season is a true story, The 2nd- is sure not.

Would give 9/10 for the first season. Only 2/3 stars for the 2-3rd seasons. It happens too much on Turkish series. The producers want to keep the revenues but the series gets too long or the story becomes boring and tasteless.

Roller coaster of extreme emotions, thankfully ends well
mosquitocyn27 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I think there were initial intentions for the series to stick to the true story but guess it did not work out for various reasons and the script writers lost themselves halfway but thankfully created a fresh start in the second season to keep the series enjoyable. In season 1 you will experience a lot of intense emotions as there were too many toxic characters - a few of whom went absolutely crazy. I had to stop watching the series for a while as it was just over the top and getting ridiculous but I returned to it when they brought in Engin Ozturk as Baris. He is a strong addition to the cast especially when Ibrahim decided to leave the show and they had to killed off his character Mehdi. Demet performed well as Zeynep (initially it was hard to see her as Zeynep after just watching her happy smiling crazy role in Erkenci Kus) and I was especially happy to see her role became happier after Mehdi died. All other cast members acted strongly. Some characters were irritating but that's what their role were and they did them well. All in all, a watchable series.

it's disappointing
pourvuasmaa29 January 2021
I would have put a good 8 but the series really disappointed me. The first season was pretty good even if I found Demet not convincing at all, we can not feel her emotions, she has a frozen face that does not convey any emotion. In Siyah Biyaz Ask Ibrahim reconciled me with the Turkish series, but in this series he really disappointed me, it seems that himself is not convinced by his performance, it's really a shame, I find him a bit too aggressive and angry not to mention the total lack of chemistry between him and Demet, it's a real waste of his talent. The authors sold us a series as being a true story but it is false, maybe at the beginning, but from season 2 it became a big rubbish, suddenly we are lost and we do not know more what to expect. Not to mention the fact that one of the writers on the show was fired lately which really affected the writing line and you feel like the events don't make sense anymore. Frankly I do not recommend this series even if I am a big fan of Ibrahim

Show sucks no no no
lucy-6455430 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I will not rate this show, really it's a waste of IBO talent, he is next to a Juvenile FL, and despite being ibo even his acting sucks, no heart in his performance no fire in his eyes he looks older and tired in this show and demet does not worth her place for such a storyline that needs to portray deep emotion she better suited for romcoms will not be watching this on, it's a shame because I admire IBO very much and I find he's matured beautifully in his acting since the starting of his career.....but that's life you win some and lose many

Mixed bag of poor directing, good acting and nonsense plots
Brunswick031 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was first excited about DEK because it was a true story and not a love story. Sadly, season one was the exact opposite of the true story and a love story was forced fed to viewers. I say force fed as poor directing and inexistent chemistry between the leads made it really cringeworthy. Demet Ozdemir spent the whole season crying while Ibrahim Celikkol just walked around saying... not much... Season two became a bit more eventful with Medhi finally becoming abusive and Zeynep stronger and opinionated (as per real story). It was all mashed up with numerous side characters, all with a different opinions and odd events clearly created to fill in the 2h+ episodes. Although, more eventful, it felt like many plots were created not for the story but to fix past mistakes made in the script; it's not flowing which is odd given that they have a book the story is supposedly based on?!? Book is gone out the window though!! It is obvious the writers are trying to convey a message about domestic abuse, but are also stuck between the demands of the public, producers, director and basic dizi rules, AND Covid limitations!!! This all makes for stretched plots but the acting is overall more solid in season 2 despite average director and twisty script. More entertaining than the show is the online argument between those who loved the couple is season one, mostly Celikkol fans, many of them outside Turkey, who can't accept that the "hero" is bad and those, without bias, who just watch the show for what it is and can identify an abuser and a victim. It creates, at times, many uncomfortable arguments between those who defend an abuser at all cost and even bash/blame the victim because they love the character and actor (Ibrahim) and others, maybe less romantic or at least more mature to recognise an abuser, good looking or not! So, even if not so great, this show might have further the dialogue about domestic abuse, which is always a good thing.

Falsely marketed as a real/true story and a love story which it is neither.
stacy-8817613 December 2020
Season 1 is great. Season 2 is not. Botched up storyline second season this is NOT a love story. This is not. Romantic story, if you are looking for that, then pass. The second season has the character Mehdi going crazy and hysterical and can't let Zeynep go. Zeynep remains as indecisive and immature as she did before she married. Not worth your time.

Not so good
erikaflei12 January 2021
In my opinion, the beginning of this series was interesting, but after having seen 3 or 4 episodes I gave up. I am a fan of Ibrahim Celikkol, but as another reviewer said, the chemistry between him and Demet was inexistent. The same reviewer stated that there is no way to compare this coupe of actors with those who played the leading roles in the excellent series "Siyah Beyaz Ask". I can't resist the temptetion to clarify that the leading actors were Birce Akalay and Ibrahim Celikkol and not Muhammet Uzmer.

Waste of talented actor Ibrahim Celikkol's time
cford49019 October 2020
I started to watch series because of Ibo and to see if Demet could transition to drama. She didn't. She had three facial expressions; stunned blank face, crying without emotion, and a smile that didn't reach her eyes. And Ibo just looked older, tired and bored (probably because he knew he was wasting his talent and time.) I think people who gave 10s don't understand quality performances and scripts or they were paid. There was absolutely no chemistry between the two leads. Nothing made me connect to the story or characters. If you want to see real chemistry, solid performances and engaging story in this genre see Back and White Love with Ibrahim and Brice Akalay.

SO GOOD OMG
aishadizis27 January 2020
This drama has everything. Romance, heartbreak, action, suspense, comedy etc. Each episode is crafted with so much attention to detail and the storyline keeps gets better and better. It's hard waiting for the next episode. The dialogues are so good and poetic. And the romance between Zeynep and Mehdi is so heartwarming and sweet!!! Demet and Ibrahim have so much chemistry it's insane! They both are brilliant actors in their own right but when they come together the screen catches fire! Both of the characters have demons that they're fighting with but together they're learning to build a home. It's beautiful! Can't wait for more.

It was better when Medhi was in my home
nechusan24 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Also why didn't they have Kibrit they're adapted daughter at his funeral or in the last episode?

Loved this series however, losing Medhi was everything! The series went in a while different direction once he was killed off. However, love Zephup in whatever role she plays!

Hmmmmmmmm I did watch this because of Ibo :p compare to what I saw in Intersections, Black and white love next to Birce, here the story is so so, and the chemistry between them not at all, there some nice scenes, Ibrahim looks tired and like not him sometimes, maybe is the character like this? Demet still need to improve her acting :)

Characters evolution review
nancyfadel16 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This serie started on the right foot, telling us the story of one girl and her decision to marry someone who isn't as educated as she is. Than they changed the whole story and turned the husband into a jealous husband, which was quite understandable, but turned the girl into the strongest women you have ever seen on TV. She broke the house door lock and left the house filed for divorced started an internship that's supposed to last ages and got accepted in one month and was given a loan to rent a house furnish it and buy all these expensive cloths she was wearing. make the boss fall for her. Re become rich, decide to marry her boss and plan to live happily ever after. What happened to Mehdi, our beloved Ibrahim celikkol, was unexplainable, he as well got an excellent deal on his house and his garage and decided to move into a new house just the opposite street of the woman he has a restraining order against, opened a lavish business and failed. how can you faillll when you have al these people to feed and take care of. for what for who. for A girl you pretended to be the husband of for 3 month made love to twice in that small family home. and went crazy and decided to break the glass of her car. and worst kidnap Zeynep to take her to see his mom. his mom.why. what his mom decision has t do with the ex wife decision. he went to jail, was injured once, got injured twice. she is now representing himmm. Not only when she was the one who put him in jail initially . She a lawyer in a business law firm is now representing in a criminal law department.being the first in your class doesn't make you a super wonder lawyer in one month.in one month she became so powerful so rich. unacceptable. so in turkey the law students who are 22 years old or maxim 24 in this story... can go to court and represent clients without passing a bar exam that is normally something that is supposed to happen after many years of training. Her real mother, despite being an excellent actress, is overdoing it. she didnt learn anything from life.nothing and still acting as if she is not entitled for the money her daughter is giving her as a mother and insist on working as the maid in the house.getting too emotional. The best thing that i have watched in this serie was actually when the exboyfriend and her neighbour friend fell in love with each other's. and how things were getting well for them .even when he married that other woman. he could have stayed in her life like all the other guys who marry the girl they don't love. but no they saw that their chemistry is even higher than demet and Ibrahim celikkol and decided to kill the character by making him suddenly disappear from their lives. I have to admit that the role played by the sister of Baris was the best thing that happened in season 2, everything she used to tell him about how he will regret falling for this insecure girl.but him Baris the business man the guy we saw to be so intelligent travelling all the time is now living in turkey.not busy have al the time to be in all the scenes. This TV serie and others have taught me something that after episode 12 in a TV serie, stop watching because the writers need to always add drama and unacceptable behaviors of main characters if they want to get rid of them.or when Ibrahim celikkol had another gig and needed to look angry and have a fierce look on his face and wear a jacket on his shoulders like( mind you discovery took me weeks of and weeks of not understanding why his face features are now changing, until i read somewhere he finished shooting a movie) he acted like a mafia guy inside prison . just to cover th embody built and the new ugly Beird because he was shooting a mother historical movie.which made the serie go look for Baris. ( a really cute and excellent actor that they are going to turn into. A psycho if they want the serie to continue or end with Zeynep going back to Mehdi ) Anyway I got so mad when they were changing Mehdi's personality and tur him at the age of 38, into the boy he never became when his dad died. they keep going back to the incident of hitting the boyfriend of Zeina when he came to his wedding. as the proof that he had a bad personality.come on who wouldn't hit that guy. Anyway just because the serie is selling and the lead actors have followers on Instagram and twitter.. it doesn't make any of what is happening right now acceptable.let alone the mother of the baby leaving.. because now they added a new line in the script explaining to us she was brought up in a home without her parents and labeling all the people who have left by their parents to become ruthless parents. I can go on forever. but I have to admit that 3 actors in this serie can be nominated for awards for consistently being good at acting what they asked them to act -Jamile, the mother of Zeina Sakina and the neighbour Sultan who led an amazing example accepting her daughter back, leaving a corrupted neighborhood and starting a new life with her. to be honest she is the only character that kept making sense in this serie.

Beautifully acted series
wardgal27 January 2020
The series in written so well and the cast is incredible. Demet makes you feel every emotion that Zeynep experiences. Ibrahim has made Mehdi an endearing character, yet filled with fire in the moments that he can't hold back. My heart breaks for Zeynep as she is torn between her two families. I can't wait to see how she finds her home in Mehdi. Demet and Ibrabhim make a great team. I can't wait to see more.

Too much Anger
drmkhan-5551121 December 2020
I have noticed that in many serials Anger is a major turning point in the story . Male Characters display too much Anger and get totally out of control including in this drama too . I do not know if this is a Cultural issue with Turkish men and they need to learn Anger management seriously.

Dogdugun Ev Kaderindir
jdadrass27 January 2020
This compelling drama about a young girl (Zeynep) caught between two worlds, two families, and two men features dynamic performances by the talented Demet Ozdemir (Cilek Kokusu, No 309, Erkenci Kus) and Ibrahim Celikkol (Siyah Beyaz Ask, Merhamet, Sadece Sen). The story is unlike anything else that is being done, and every episode takes the audience deeper into the lives and minds of the main characters. Each episode ends with Zeynep (Ozdemir) talking to a therapist, and the audience empathizes with her as she navigates impossible choices in her life, sacrificing herself while trying to please everyone else. She comes upon Mehdi (Celikkol) by chance. Will he be the one to make her feel like she finally belongs somewhere? Can he make Zeynep believe that it is possible to be loved without feeling indebted to those who love her? This show is beautifully acted, beautifully directed, and features a beautiful musical score. The struggle to find one's place in the world is universal, and it's never a waste of time to watch the story of beautifully flawed characters who are trying to do just that.

Divorce
giingerale7 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The chemistry between Demet and Ibrahim is debatable, but it adds to the season 2 plot. Zeynep (Demet) and Mehdi (Ibrahim) started off their relationship and marriage with love and they both fell in love with each other during the first season episodes. No matter how difficult sister Mujgan and Benal tried to make Zeynep's life and no matter their efforts to separate Zeynep from Mehdi, Zeynep endured the suffering that was caused by them because she loved Mehdi and understood that he was trying to do the right thing. But, Mehdi started to become toxic. No matter how much I love Ibrahim as an actor, I cannot fail to recognize the terrible person that Mehdi has become. Zeynep has forgiven him multiple times, but aggressive and controlling behavior cannot be forgiven. After everything that Zeynep has been through regarding her father, she understandably wants to divorce Mehdi after the trauma that he has caused her. If Zeynep were to stay with Mehdi, then she would become just like her mother in tolerating a husband that she is fearful for. Some of the plot does not make sense. For example: Mehdi knew Zeynep's dreams of becoming a lawyer and he sent the graduation video to her boss so she could be hired again, but he still locked her in the house to prevent her from going to work. If Zeynep was fired from her job because of his family issues, why would he lock her in the house??? I simply don't understand why he would do such a thing when he knew her dreams before being married. Zeynep accepted Benal's pregnancy after they got married, so why couldn't Mehdi accept Zeynep's job? Mehdi became abusive and controlling with Zeynep, but wasn't he the one who saved Benal and Cemile from their abusive husbands??

I truly believe that divorce is the right thing for both Zeynep and Mehdi. Mehdi has time to figure out his anger issues and become a better person, which clearly does not work. Even though I am on Season 2 Episode 6, I have seen some of the horrible things that Mehdi has done and that he dies.

Since this series is based on a true story, I decided to look up some information about the book that it was based on. I was surprised to find that the series depicts Mehdi's character as better than the Mehdi in the book. They're both terrible. But in the book, Mehdi physically abuses Zeynep and cheats on her with another woman and spends all of his money that he earns on that woman. Basically, Mehdi in the book is the same exact person as Zeynep's father and Zeynep in the book is like her mother because she's the only one who brings money home to care for the child that she has with Mehdi (they have a child in the book). But the book and the series get one thing right: Mehdi was seen as this generous and nice person, but he has anger and controlling issues. It shows that you really need to know a person before you marry them and not rely on other peoples words.

Besides the plot, I think that all of the actors have done a very nice job in interpreting the characters. I am curious to see what happens during the episodes that I have not watched and the rest of season 2.

qubeck29 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The producer told real-life story. It's the story of a idiot who doesn't take lessons in her own life. Waste of time for watching. The adopt of a daughter to rich family brought up in poor conditions. She being a lawyer, growing up as a rich girl. Marrying the neighborhood bum because wants her real poor , stupid, bad family. Couse she doesn't want to hurt her real mother. The life of a person who makes her own stupid choices cannot set an example.
