Learn tricks how to steal high end cars...
saptesh78618 May 2020
Movie focuses on tricks how to steal various cars, then high end cars and eventually how to turn drugs into cars! Wow things look tips for car thives. A perfect car thief caught by police after stealing car and let him go only terms that he will be undercover in a car stealing mafia. Later things going smooth and positive but expected end after very average climax. Actors are just okay only Hannah Gordon reminds you to notice her for her lusty role.

So you wanna know if it's just a Fast and Furious knock-off?
MikeHunt107515 May 2020
A young man quits his job in computer repairs to steal cars for money and finds himself stealing the wrong car. Once caught he is given a choice to go to jail for life or become an undercover agent and infiltrate a group that are stealing luxury sports vehicles for export. The young man finds himself not only deep under cover, but finds himself in deeper water as drugs, blackmail, love triangles and his own life halt his way out.

So... is it F&F? As far as an undercover cop infultrating a gang of car thieves goes, it's simmilar, but it's not really about the cars or a heist, it's a different tone where the main guy just gets in too deep and its a bit of a thrill ride as to will he get out of this alive?

So no, it's not a F&F wanna-be. The movie does have a few annoying filler scenes tho, as terrible rap music plays and goes into a bad montage of drifts or speeding around the city. Scenes that fail to add any excitment to the film and could've been done away all-together with for a better pace.

With that said, it's good for one watch, but not really anything you would wanna see again. Watch it only if it sounds like something you might be interested in. But it's no 'must see' flick.

It's Okay, but lacked tension
itsbobr23 May 2020
Mikey (Francesco Filice) is a young car thief who specializes in stealing hi-end cars and gets caught by the police and is forced to work with them, but the police are not interested in the car thief ring run by Charlie (Sean Ray) and his partner Sammy (Alex Loubert). They are after the drugs they believe are being made and sold.

Mikey steals Charlie's car and is so impressed how it was done, Charlie offers Mikey a job, which was the point of stealing the car the police say. All works good for a while until Sammy makes a drug deal with Koflex (Sam Asante).

So we see Mikey doing a balancing act between the police and Charlie and now Sammy and the drugs; and also not getting caught with Ava (Hannah Gordon), Charlie's girlfriend.

It is really nice to see many hi-end cars and see them revved up often. Very nice. Vvvvvroooom!!

There are some twists along the way and the final twist you will not see coming.

Notables: Vivica A. Fox as Detective Reid who Mikey reports to; Nathan Hibbert as an African Drug Dealer.

Production, photography, pacing and acting all around are very good, but this did lack serious tension and that could have made this a stronger contender. (5/10)

Violence: Yes. Sez: No. Nudity: No. Humor: No. Language: Yes.

Yawn...

Poorly constructed mishmash of other movies. Nothing original here. We've seen it all done before. Had potential with doorways set up earlier on that weren't used. Last 15mins made little sense and felt like they just wanted it over and done with. I can't even recommend it as an afternoon time waster. Look for something else.

About what one would expect
horst6914 May 2020
This film is a succession of loosely connected scenes .

Each scene is an unimaginative copy of what you have seen before in movies of that genre , but on a tiny budget, with awful acting, and a lack of skill that makes George Lucas look like a genius .

One extra star because it could have been even worse .

Cool conceipt
junaidl-168065 June 2020
Very convincing and all very possible. Very cool characters, very memorable. Viv is the most famous person in this movie and she's just there cause we all find comfort in familiar faces. But damn Vivica cant act to save her life. Her Independence days are long over. She should have never hooked up with 50. Over all, entertaining and a breath of fresh air that you already exhaled but made it's way back into your mouth... a Cool 7 from me

Tries hard, does pretty well in the end. Nothing to do with cars really.
fluffchop27 November 2021
The longer it goes the less like the Fast and the Fabulous it becomes. First of all the cops. The chick cop is just an awful character played by an awful actress. There's various characters with Sammy being utterly pathetic in all ways. I hate the cops in this movie. I hate the entire premise that he happens to steal a car that a cop owns. Lets look at that for a minute. An original 1965 Cobra isn't going to be in some tokens possession whereby it is inherited by the token son. That car is too rare and it's just not going to happen. Also, the car hasn't moved for two weeks and the top is down outside the front of the garage in some crappy neighborhood a cop can afford? That car is long gone and nobody needed the keys to steal it. No! The car would be inside the garage. Are they trying to suggest the cops have the forethought to plan for it to be taken. Anyway, moving on. This chick happens to be the greatest ever drift driver and the old guy lets her drive his car? Hahahaha that's laughable and insane. In the final act the kid suddenly gets all Oceans 11 and there is some heist planning. Then oh no the token bad guy knows you're an "agent". So this last act just gets more and more out of hand. I guess it's some sort of climax which is good, because a film really should build and up until this point it really never did. Now there are some cops coming in all shooty shooty in a bar. Realistic stuff right? Hahahaha. Now token takes a hostage, the drift chick. Cops shoot the token in the head. OH now it's more of the pathetic cop chick. He "eXcaped" she said, hahahahaa. English much b? Stupid token. Charlie and drfit chick escape in the Police car, nice touch. That was worth an extra star.

Better than some of the made for dvd/indie films of the same category. Some good action and nice cars. The cast were alright . The plot could have been stronger in some places but altogether not a bad movie.

One of the better B-films I've seen in a while!
Top_Dawg_Critic18 May 2020
I wasn't expecting much going into this B-grade film with actors I've never heard of, and also noticed it was a Toronto Canada B-grade production by newb writers and director Reza Sholeh and Ant Horasanli.

Yes it was a mishmash of a lot of films we've seen before, and it was a little cliched, but to be able to take the fun and decent parts of those films, and use the cliches as humor, it ends up being a decent, fun and entertaining story.

The 91 min runtime and pacing were spot on. The score was decent, especially for a B-grade film, and the music awesome for the most part, although not necessary in so many scenes. The acting was surprisingly good for novice actors I've never seen or heard of, especially Sean Rey, Francesco Filice and Hannah Gordon, who were very convincing in their roles. I wasn't that impressed with Alex Loubert as Sammy - not sure if it was his character and/or his acting. The directing, cinematography and editing seemed very professional - you'd think seasoned filmmakers were involved.

Rev is a fun and mature film with cool ngst-ngst Techno music, decent pacing, cool and chic Toronto locales, and a showcase of some fine exotic cars. I thoroughly and surprisingly enjoyed it.

I feel this film is undeservingly rated too low, considering it's a novice B-grade film that's better than most I've seen, even better than some Hollywood productions that have come out lately. It's a solid 8/10 from me. To see how I professionally review and rate my 900+ reviews and 1000+ ratings, click on my username. Watchable film...apart from one character.
sjsknh3 January 2021
Really quite a good film, cars, girls, chases and guns...Great drifting scenes...believable characters....apart from one...

Alex loubert's acting as the character Sammy, is laughable...its so corny...quite amateurish if im honest! He lets the film down in a big way.

Other than that, enjoyable and watchable.

Blend Of Other Movies (TheBusiness/FastFurious/GoneIn60)
aidanmarcburns18 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Every few minutes there is a scene which feels entirely duplicated from another movie, except in this film the resemblance is almost a flat duplicate.

Charlie is "The Business" man, He wants to bring in the newbie, Sammy is the psycho who hates newbie, Newbie wears stupid lame clothes, Girl gets out swimming pool, Newbie sleeps with girl behind their backs, Newbie works with Sammy instead of against, But is a double crossing undercover,

It is basically GoneIn60Seconds/FastFurious visuals with the script from TheBusiness, just instead of main character Frankie its Mikey instead, it even includes the narrator main character speaking his thoughts every 4th scene as well.

As if that wasn't enough duplicating they even brought coke dealing scenes in to top it off.

You didn't think I would find out?
nogodnomasters22 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Mikey (Francesco Filice) steals the wrong car and ends up working undercover for the Toronto Police, casually walking in and out their front door. He has infiltrated an exotic car-stealing ring. Toss in drugs and sneaking around with the boss's girlfriend and you a typical movie script. The characters were better than the plot, but not good enough to make it a film worth watching twice.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Tiresome
taurushulk30 April 2024
Possibly the worst film ever, apart from the sequence, that was restaged others. Acting is dreadful, camera work amateurish, reflecting the impoverished, quite boring waste of time and money at triple speed to watch the film so repulsive, it actually looked away at times, short-sighted, trivial, tasteless, lengthy and boring, precisely another commercial that been sponsored by moron tobacco company, do nothing just smoking only, so naive & childish, ugly tat too, if don't know how to make a film, just donate money to people, minus ten for rating. Recommend Coco Ferme, better than this one a lot.

Kinda seen this before
paul_utteridge17 May 2020
Ok it's not badly acted or anything but it is kinda not amazing either . I try's hard and the narrative is well weak But I've seen this film somewhere before or at least big bits of it other movies One that stands out is No Mans Land . With Charlie sheen ... even the main bad guy is called Charlie ... well it's ok but if you want a better car film try No mans land for pure action and fun .

You shouldn't like it...but you do
diggorysp8 January 2021
So the cliche is fast and furious on a tiny budget but....guess what, they actually know cars better. I thought the actors were fun, the four leads were entertaining to watch - Sammy and Ava stuck in the head. Some nice moments, plenty of cheese and plot was totally on the numbers, but with a beer, and smile and a desire to forget about the craziness out there, it might just be worth a watch.

VIEWS ON FILM review of Rev
burlesonjesse515 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
"You gotta take what's yours". According to Rev (my latest review), that refers to stealing cars, stealing girlfriends, and stealing freedom.

Anyway, Rev as a word, refers to a revolution of an engine per minute. Rev the movie, well it's much more than that. As a blueprint about a car thief who becomes an informant in order bust up a vehicle smuggling ring, Rev is a familiar story that's well told. Shot in Toronto, Ontario, Rev doesn't need an extravagant budget, prodigal flash, or Vin Diesel to get my recommendation.

Now Rev does have its share of stylish automobiles. And those automobiles do partake in some good old fashioned drifting. But hey, this isn't a car racing endeavor nor is it a heart-pumping action flick. Rev is more of a glitz and glitter drama, a drug film with a twist, and an underground spectacle with a Mob feel. It begs the question of what if Gone in 60 Seconds or The Fast and the Furious were directed by Iranian Barbet Schroeder.

The cast of Rev is filled with confident unknown actors and the still feisty Vivica A. Fox. You got car booster Mikey played by the stone-faced Francesco Filice. You got Diego Luna lookalike Sean Ray playing criminal mastermind Charlie, and you got slinky Hannah Gordon playing Charlie's squeeze Ava. Their characters are like low key versions of Brian O'Conner, Dominic Toretto, and badass Letty Ortiz ("I don't got friends, I got family").

All in all, Rev is a mature and taut directorial effort from Mr. Ant Horasanli (that's his first name no joke). With a catchy, techno musical score, a moderate pace, and some chic Toronto locales (for once it's not Toronto masquerading as NYC or Chicago), Rev gets a rating of 3 and a half stars. "Rev" it up!

Good in parts, but the ending is confusing
Prometheus-10113 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There's a better film in this Fast & Furious like drama somewhere, and it's entertaining in parts, but the execution is really muddled at times, as are some of the characters' motivations. I want to focus on the Ava character in particular.

Our car thief hero starts an affair with the hot girlfriend of his boss. She's into it and seems to have no qualms about cheating on her beau. We're led to believe that boss man won't be relaxed about this kind of thing because we've already seen him beat another of her potential suitors to a pulp. Then when things look bleak for the crew, she gets all preachy about how much she cares about boss man and seems to have had enough of our hero. Shame. But wait - the ending sees her kissing our hero again as they sail off into the sunset - whilst boss man SEES THEM KISSING and and couldn't seem to care less. What? Seriously - WHAT?

I want to be clear that this is no criticism of Hannah Gordon, who plays Ava with a lot of energy and verve, as well as being drop dead gorgeous. But goodness me, this is one of the most confused female parts in a film I've seen in a long time. I'd love to read what on earth the filmmakers were going for here. Maybe there was a whole "throuple" subplot or subtext that got cut or something, but it just strikes me that they wanted a hot girl to kiss our hero at the end of the film and they didn't care if it made any sense at all. Strange.

Confused and irritated
cfrazer-5113725 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this film, i know you kinda know what's going to happen .... guy falls for bad guys girl & all that however , i loved it! I'm a fan on gone in 60 seconds & it's kinda along those lines. I'm no film critic I just really enjoyed it apart from one thing. End of the film yep leaves it open for another one at some point but, I can't get my head round Charlie & Ava & Mikey. Is it kinda they both get the girl in the end? The girl gets to have her cake & then some? They could be happy like many others with all three of them in a relationship? Don't know but it's confused me & I'm irritated I don't know. These details don't need to be made clear in the film ....... I just need to know! I know they are acting & this is not 'real' just my fricking weird wanting answers.

A Revelation of Sorts!!!
zardoz-132 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
If you fantasize about stealing exotic, high-end cars, co-writer & scenarist Ant Horasanli's "REV" will make your mouth water with anticipation. Even after H.B. Halicki's original "Gone in 60 Seconds" (1974) and the Nicolas Cage remake of 2000, along with the entire "Fast & Furious" franchise, there is still room for another derivative stolen car movie. Mind you, Harsanli's polished Toronto-based, grand theft auto thriller isn't crowned by a celebrity cast. You've probably never heard of actors and actresses, such as Francesco Filice, Sean Rey, and Hannah Gordon. Nevertheless, they make charming, but convincing crooks. The biggest name in "REV" is Vivica A. Fox, and the "Independence Day" actress hasn't been in anything notable since "Independence Day: Resurgence" (2016). Cast as a hard-boiled Toronto Police Detective after the bust of the century, she radiates a rather villainous vibe. The standard-issue screenplay by "Gear" writer Reza Sholeh and Harsanli careens around all the preposterous curves with the usual scenes and suspense you would expect from such an auto-theft thriller.

Occasionally, this nifty, low-budget, stolen car saga delivers a surprise or two, including an upbeat ending, that will help you handle the speed bumps that get in the way. Most of the criminal activities depicted here are familiar. Ironically, our protagonist--who doubles as the narrator--comments that if movies like "Gone in 60 Seconds" weren't made, then he would never have started stealing cars. The filmmakers don't approach their subject matter as a primer for car thieves. The chief difference between "REV" and all those other spectacular stolen car thrillers is "REV's" South African connection. Not only do these car thieves boost high-end autos, but they also load into shipping containers and send them on voyages across the Atlantic with narcotics crammed in every crevice. Warlords and other crooked officials in Ghana take possession of these dream rides as well as the contraband concealed within them. They live the high life under the watchful eyes of their heavily armed sentinel warrior children.

Unlike "The Fast & the Furious," the protagonist in "REV" is a career car thief. Toronto PD arrests him, but then allows him to continue his criminal capers. Now, however, he acts as their informant. Mikey Barley (Francesco Filice of "Detainee X") gets caught early on stealing police cruisers, but he stays out of jail until the Toronto Police nab him for something bigger. Mikey pinches a Shelby Cobra Replica and stashes it in an underground parking lot. He figures if the car contains a tracking device, the vehicle won't be there when he returns for it. A week afterward, Mikey finds the Shelby untouched in the same parking slot. Slipping behind the wheel to crank it up, he fails to notice two Toronto PD cruisers pulling up behind him. Armed policemen draw a bead on him with their pistols and then arrest him. Detective Reid (Vivica A. Fox) gives Mikey a choice: work with them or serve an eternity in prison. Naturally, Mikey prefers to be a snitch. Now, he regrets he ever quit his quaint computer store job.

Now, Mikey must find somebody who traffics in stolen cars. He attracts the attention of one of Toronto's more notorious car thieves that the police have had no luck busting. Audaciously, Mikey targets Charlie (Sean Ray of "Betrayed") and steals Charlie's car, a 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo. Later, he finds himself in deep with the notorious car thief. Stealing cars for Charlie, Mikey grows fond of the exhilarating nightlife, the booze, and the broads, until Charlie's stunning girlfriend Ava (Hannah Gordon of "Scarecrows") wants to lay more than her eyes on him. Mikey realizes he is fiddling with forbidden fruit. Earlier, he saw Charlie fly into a violent rage when a guy tried to dance with his babelicious. Charlie nearly stomped the poor dude to death! Even Ava realizes she is juggling more than dynamite when she starts sleeping with Mikey behind Charlie's back. When Charlie's ambitious but treacherous accomplice, Sammy (Alex Loubert of "The Heretics") unveils his plan to load the cars with narcotics galore, Charlie dreads the extra heat such a scheme may draw. At about the same time, Detective Reid learns Mikey's cover has been blown! Altogether, neither the criminals nor the cops claim total victory at fadeout. Each suffers setbacks to their grand schemes and withdraws from the field frustrated. Clocking in at a nimble 91 minutes, with a boisterous techno musical soundtrack, "REV" generates enough engine revolutions per minute to keep you occupied with its slick sights and sounds.
