The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • The protagonist takes heavy pleasure from hearing the sounds of the pain of others.

Violence & Gore

  • The whole premise of the movie is the protagonist/antagonist connecting violence to sound & using it for various experiments, typically to make music out of it. She tortures & murders people very graphically in her experiments.
  • A deaf girl follows what she thinks are the thumps of music and discovers her mother being stabbed repeatedly with a meat cleaver. Her father continues to strike her with the cleaver, stabbing her to death over 30 times. Blood splatter is shown on the walls and television set.
  • A man gets hit in the forehead with a meat tenderizer. The death isn't shown but it cuts to the euphoria that the killer, his young daughter, is feeling after hearing the sound of him die.
  • Similar to the death in the original short film, a man is tortured to death by a device that bashes and stabs his head and stomach multiple times until his brutal body is shown.
  • A woman hits a man with a mallet and he fights with her until she stabs him, then hits him numerous times in the chest with the mallet. She then proceeds to take a knife and stab him in the heart, killing him.
  • A woman gets a dozen speakers surgically implanted into her body that play the sounds of murder victims. She walks through a beach as the sounds play before collapsing and dying. Extremely upsetting and disturbing.
  • A harpist begins to play until the strings cut her fingers and blood flows everywhere; she is unaware of this as she has been drugged. Extremely disturbing and bloody scene.
  • After badly wounding his wrist, a man is killed when the protagonist wires a theremin to his head and causes it to explode. Blood splatters onto a glass wall and Alexis begins to feel massive pleasure from this. His dead body with the blown apart head is shown again later.
