Not the show I was hoping for
frodisman-3021110 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Now a group has been given 2 weeks to investigate one of America's most haunted facilities. I'm thinking cool a group of highly dedicated researchers investigating a notoriously haunted site with tons of equipment. I've watched my fair share of paranormal shows and this seemed like a good concept to stay longer than one night to gather evidence and attempt to gain some sort of scientific evidence as to why events do happen. The show starts with introducing the viewer to the researchers. After their introduction I thought why on earth did they choose this group? The whining alone turned me off immediately. I didn't get a sense of professionalism or excitement that they've been given access to this place. Definitely more personal drama than anything else. I would have preferred a group of more dedicated people who left their drama at home and attempted to focus on answers. Feels forced, at times a sense that they'd rather be home instead of filming a show and appreciating the fact that they're being paid to do something so many others would love to do. If ghosts feed off emotions then why send half a crew of overly emotional people? I'd rather see a group of mentally fit skeptics. At least if something happens to them it would seem more believable. Austin was way too emotional and should've never been part of the group IMO. Katie and the other girl were complaining from day one. Others complaining about sleep. What did you think you were going to be working 9-5? The constant I'm ready to go home. From what I watched I didn't feel the place was all that haunted. It was more about how the others have trouble being away from home and working on finding themselves. That's for another type of show. If you're looking for a show about a group of highly dedicated researchers who were appreciative of the job at hand, looking for new scientific evidence of the paranormal then this isn't the show for you. Just a long bad episode of Ghost Adventures meet up with Destination Fear. And I like those shows.

Spiritualism vs Scientific
widowsweb17 May 2022
After years of being a part of the paranormal community and being a spiritual person, my opinion on using a scientific approach is that it's intriguing but i trust my instincts and spiritualism to protect me. Spirits, lost souls, unearthly beings, demons all require us as living beings to feed onto our energy; life force. We must protect ourselves from being taken advantage of. E. V. P and video recordings, in my opinion, is meddling into their business and giving spirits false hope on finding peace because of our curiosity. Meddling with no intentions on helping spirits is just cruel.

More of a psychological drama than a Ghost Hunt
PWB-AVFC2 January 2020
This program started well and had promise. The team had a balance between the sensitive's (which I don't have time for) and the scientist's; who early on debunked what was a technical issue. However, as seen in other similar formats; and possibly due to little actual evidence found, the drama takes over with the spot light taken over by the 'sensitive's', and for me it was this that ruined the show.

Also, claiming that its the 'biggest ghost hunt in the world' is typically American and I would question this rather churlish claim. Just because it was possibly the longest GH in America, doesn't automatically mean that it's the biggest GH in the entire world - get real.

If you like watching grass grow, you'll love this...
ajderosa-433367 November 2021
Painstakingly slow, torturously long, and incredibly boring. Very little action & the mission of their investigation seems pointless. I've been more entertained watching my fingernails grow.

Very Amateur Investigation
jmail-3540817 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
If you watched shows like Ghost Hunters you'll find this investigation to be very amateurish by comparison. At first I thought the girls were dead weight offering nothing but magic crystals and feelings and then I realised the men offered nothing either. They didn't even set up a decent amount of cameras until day 10! A frustrating missed opportunity from the investigators. Give it a big miss.

A true paranormal investigation
TheGraveReporter6 November 2019
First off, I'd like to say that I have spent my fair share of time watching and studying paranormal programming for the last 15 years and believe me if it has been released I've seen it. Having said that, this special was one of, if not the best and most well done shows I have ever seen. Between the very likable and relatable cast and vast dichotomy of methodologies, I truly think this show has something for everyone. Even if you are a skeptic and don't believe in this type of stuff, you still can find solace in the fact that one of the investigators is in the same frame of mind as you. By using the Este's Method for the spirit box and creating the faraday cage to rule out false positives, this team knows true paranormal investigation and is serious about the research side of things rather than just saying every orb and flashing light on their equipment is supernatural. Two full weeks in a place like this and any other TV show would come out with so much evidence it would seem ridiculous, but not this group. The fact that they only showed us a handful of these paranormal occurrences gives even further credibility to what they are doing as any true paranormal investigator knows this kind of stuff just doesn't happen every minute as most shows would have you believe. Having watched this several times already, I just cannot get over the fact that this group is genuine and it makes me reminisce of the days I used to go out and investigate which makes me happy and feel apart of the team. I hope to hear more from these guys and gals!

Refreshing Take on Paranormal Television
FilmCriticTV4 November 2019
Truly the first paranormal show to cover all aspects of the field. Each side is represented equally from full on skeptic debunker to sensitive empath. Even though Pennhurst has been done so many times before, this show was like the paranormal fact checker of genre. This is unlike anything ever seen in the paranormal before. With extreme isolation from the outside world and the longest back to back investigations, they were able to have complete and utter focus on the task at hand. With the basecamp cameras they were fully exposed and transparent which allows the real emotions and interactions to shine through so the viewer is able to feel as if they are on the team exploring and investigating with them. Unrelenting until they find answers, they are paving a new way into the study of the unknown, diving into uncharted waters and using real scientific methods with real scientists and engineers. At the end of the day this was an ambitious experiment that yielded incredible results and I hope this is just the beginning of a long journey ahead for this team!

Real World meets Ghost Adventures?
izaak9919 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Disappointing and a wasted opportunity. This is almost like the reverse of what they were trying to accomplish -- 2 weeks and no concrete or even intriguing evidence captured. And people giving this 10 stars!?!!

95-98% of this is the crew talking about themselves, each other, their feelings, etc. One of them goes a little coo-coo (most likely from lack of sleep) and throws up. That's about the most exciting thing that happens throughout this painfully slow show. Sorry, but I tuned in to watch if they have evidence of the paranormal, not to listen to them talk about their powerful crystals and developing their "abilities" and how exhausted they are because of the drastic change in their sleep pattern. *facepalm*

Why didn't they setup static camera's/FLIR/EMF meters/Magnetic meters in every possible location they could afford for the 2 weeks instead and see if there are any anomalies in that long amount of time? This was literally one of the worst amateurish paranormal shows I've seen.

They claim they documented over 100 events. I can only guess 95 of those events are their "feelings" because they showed absolutely no solid repeatable evidence of the paranormal. When the most compelling evidence is a "spirit box" session (which is literally a toy that captures random radio stations) I think its clear they failed their mission or actually proved this place is not haunted.

Worst Investigators Ever
vdcgcmv4 November 2021
Ok I have watched ghost hunting shows and been apart of paranormal investigations before but this show there's a lot things they don't do or use that you should for a 2 week investigation. 1 is you always do a walkthrough of the grounds the fist day your on location the 2nd when you have a lot of abandoned buildings make sure there's at least 1 Xcam setup in each building to catch things if your not in there. For last use every price of equipment you can have one person using spectral imaging, another using thermal and one more using the SLE camera. As far as the rimpods go all they had to do was change the frequency of the radios because I've never seen those interfere with a rim pod before.

Not at all!
brianbyrd19815 July 2021
First off let's start with the "crystal girl" she c was obviously not a sensitive and was just there to curl up with the Zak dude, second a investigation like this needed to be done by professionals and not dollar store investigators.. casting was horrible and the way they did it was amatuer at best.

Exciting New Show
dan-lafave-497-9695443 November 2019
A great new show of paranormal exploration which is quite intriguing. Katie Burr does great as a natural leader of this team. Have known Katie for years now and she and the rest of the cast bring a storyline that is very mysterious and exciting

Ugh!
bookerbunch2 November 2023
First if all, you can not convince me that this is a documentary. These people come across as the worst actors ever. And true documentarians would never act this way or do things that they do. And worst of all, at times it seemed like a bad dating show. Secondly, the equipment they use is so basic. If you were going to do a TWO WEEK investigation wouldn't you go all out on every piece of ghost hunting equipment you could get your hands on? Lame. And lastly, PLEASE stop talking. They talk sooooooo much and so loudly that there is no way a ghost would come near them. There is constant dialog. Even if it has no basis in what's happening. Save yourself the agony of watching this. It's just a time and brain suck.

Mythbusters Meets Paranormal
josephallens-1933614 November 2019
So I just had chance to watch this, didn't even know about it until someone told me after the fact and wow is this something great! When I say great that is an understatement, I mean like GREAT GREAT!

Pros:

1.) First off, you have a team of investigators who all work well together and compliment each other despite not all knowing each other. Kudos to casting for pulling something off that most others cast to create controversy. It gives ALOT of credibility to their efforts when you realize most of them are engineers or scientists and have real day jobs and aren't just actors or film gurus. I get vibes of a nerdy type big bang theory at times but with the adventure aspect of the Hardy Boys.

2.) This is the first time in a LONG time I felt like I actually learned something form a paranormal show. When I say learn, I mean learn like Mythbusters or Bill Nye. A faraday cage is the real deal (I looked it up lol) and now I won't ever go investigating without one, so thank you for that guys! Makes you wonder about the rest of the shows who don't pay attention to the fine details like this.

3.) Concept of staying in a location for two weeks is insanely genius because unless you are a psychic (or in my words a psycho) paranormal stuff rarely happens on que and in a short time frame. Being there for what 336 hours is literally next level. This is what I loved about Lockdown with Nick and Katrina and now this show literally takes the next steps.

4.) For the first time in years (yes years) I have been able to sit through the entire story and felt fully engaged and interested to the end. All the other new recent shows on other networks I sit there and can't even last the hour but this was truly different for me.

Cons:

1.) Of course there was no time for "evidence review" (which is really a waste of time recapping events already seen prior in the episode, hello DVR people just rewind and watch again if you forget that easily) because a two week investigation crammed into two hours in insane. I want to see the rest of the footage A&E! I seriously want to learn more about this investigation and see all the stuff that wasn't able to fit.

Conclusion:

This show, the investigators, the concept all hit the mark for me. I've been an investigator and a paranormal tv enthusiast for 15 years and I LOVE the fact that I learned something new and can make good use of it on my own hunts. A&E should expand on this and turn this two week special into an entire series, I don't think that has ever been done before exploring a single place for an entire series with each night / day a new episode. Overall I'm glad to have stumbled upon this as this is truly a gem of a show in my opinion.

Wow
hunnybee-694153 January 2023
This would have been one awesome show if you guys had brought in T. A. P. S and Tennessee Wraith Chasers. Together they are an awesome group of investigators. I love both shows and have watched them all. They would have had us all believers and nonbelievers jumping out of our seats. These is an Asylum. So you know some bad things happened in this place. And TAPS and TWC would have done a so much better job. The ones that did the show did more talking than they did investigating. With TAPS and TWC when they get some activity. The go more they go harder. These guys gets a hit and leaves. They were obviously more scared than anything else. I just feel the show would have been much better with TAPS and TWC doing the investigating.

People need to stop being ignorant
Pistol21929 October 2023
Those who refuse to just believe in a higher power, and those who constantly need to know answers to things that are not meant to have scientific explanation. These people deserve every bit of bad things coming their way for trying to exploit the dead and taking advantage to make a $$. Some door 🚪 ways are not meant to be open. And people like this keep opening the wrong doorways. This show seems more wannabee then real and I am not saying they didn't experience paranormal activities but they definitely embellish to make money. They have zero respect for the dead. Thats the world we live in. I am not praying that they have bad fortunes through their whole lives and to their legacy of children and grandchildren. But I am saying that if they do, then they put it on themeselves. God bless the poor lost souls who they are exploiting.

An Terrifying and Educational Adventure
sarah_stevens036 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I LOVED this show so much not only because it was terrifyingly real, but because we learned a new method to paranormal investigating. Being an investigator myself I am always looking for new ways to use my equipment and it seems as if no new techniques have come out in forever. I can never trust random devices like REM pods for this exact reason and now that we have a way to rule out that interference, literally all other instances where they have gone off are discounted to me in my opinion. FINALLY we have a group of people who not only know what the heck they are talking about but actually have education and professions to back them up (unlike some... cough cough.. plumber and contractors out there). I am so looking forward to learning more about the paranormal from the science side and this just makes me want to go out and try all these methods myself! Thanks A&E!

Bravo, an investigation well done
Eric_herr6 November 2019
Between Ghost Adventures and now the new Ghost Hunters and Ghost Nation you have two extremes. Either you have super over the top reactions and every little spec of dust and static on recorders is evidence of a demonic possession (which I hate to admit is mildly entertaining at times) or you have no-nonsense guys who originated the field and use proven styles but are kind of boring to put it kindly. This show takes the best aspects of both worlds and combines them, not too flashy and overdramatic but also not too dull and conservative. The fact that this team spent two weeks sleeping in a location like this is incredible when it comes to this field and puts other shows, even Paranormal Lockdown with its 72 hours lockdown, to shame!
