I was ALL IN when I saw this on the site, I love a good Elvis parody. Having said that, why would you do this show and not make a decent effort to do an over the top parody of his voice and speaking style? Johnny Bravo sounded more like Elvis! Otherwise, I like it! Do something about the voice, it sounds like a normal guy. Seriously though, McC has a normal voice that is all Southern drawl. I'm not sure why he softened it up so much. Have fun with it. I will admit to only getting to the first 2 eps so far, maybe McC gets better. I usually do not put in a review until I've seen every episode, I will come back and redo it after I watch the rest.

Insanely violent and sharp-tongued spy movie parody

As an Elvis fan, I knew about Agent Elvis for some time, watched the whole first season the day it came out and really enjoyed it overall. It is definitely not for everyone, though. It's a pretty insane show reminiscent of Tarantino movies with lots of violence and raunchy humor. I'm not really sure what the target audience for this type of adult animated series surrounding a fictionalized Elvis Presley really is, and the fact that it was even made is surely surprising. Kudos to Netflix and the makers for being bold!
I appreciate that there is original Elvis music in virtually all episodes! The series covers a timeframe from shortly before the '68 Comeback special to the day of the Aloha from Hawaii concert. It's cool to see and hear all the references-major and minor-to the Elvis world. I think many of the references will only be noticed or understood by Elvis fans but they are in most cases not relevant to the plot. There are other pop-cultural references as well, for instance to Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now, Stanley Kubrick and 2001, The Doors and Jim Morrison, George Clinton, and Little Richard, to name a few. The plot surrounding Elvis "Agent King" Presley and an obscure organization named TCB mostly parodies Mission Impossible/James Bond type spy movies, with a bit of Manchurian Candidate vibes mixed in, and adds over-the-top violence. "Austin Powers meets Quentin Tarantino" describes Agent Elvis quite well I would say.
The animation of Agent Elvis looks great and modern, and in the lead role we have the appealing voice of Matthew McConaughey, who talks in his signature Southern drawl but does not imitate Elvis' voice. Then there is Johnny Knoxville as Elvis' sidekick Bobby Ray and Don Cheadle as the agent boss man. Even show co-creator Priscilla Presley has a couple of cameo scenes throughout the series. The voice actor standout for me, though, is Kaitlin Olson as Elvis' agent colleague CeCe Ryder. She has some of the funniest lines and delivers them sharply.
What I especially like about the show is how cleverly and fluently it incorporates contemporary historical events and figures into the plot. Events such as the Altamont festival, the Moon landing or the meeting between Elvis and Nixon are depicted as well as figures such as a completely insane version of Howard Hughes (who is a major supporting character in the whole series), Robert Goulet as Elvis' nemesis or good-time Charlie Manson. By the way, besides his singing voice, there are some photographs of the real-life Elvis in this show as well. After watching all 10 episodes, I can say that I would like to see a second season of Agent Elvis. We will see if it turns out to be successful enough.

At worst, Archer and Men In Black did it better (and first).
At best, it is a fun revisionist-history spy-comedy serial.
It does break new ground from its other comps by dialing up the cartoon nudity, cartoon sex, cartoon violence, cartoon pee, and cartoon zoophilia to 11. Part of those in that list don't feel earned; like the crude humor and side character deaths feel out of place and force just for the sake of being crude.
The voice acting is great, and the animation style is fun.
At the end of it all, I did sorta wish there was more than just 10 episodes, so I think it is worth a watch, and at least a second season.

Love it. I really believe Elvis himself would enjoy. Some of us can still keep a level head, not be offended by everything, and remember its OK and even admirable to laugh at ourselves.

So, an Elvis cartoon set during the Vietnam War, when the pop rock star was skinny, with a cast of characters from that time. Pretty funny, I guess, if you're over 50. But, does anyone under 40 even know who Dean Martin was or do you all have to run to Wikipedia every few minutes?
And, really, do older folks actually watch cartoons? Aren't we too busy with Humphrey Bogart black and whites and Dick van Dyke reruns?
(Remember Capri pants? Wooo...) Anyway, Agent Elvis is funny, the animation is stylish and engaging, characters are pretty cool and the plots work. I also enjoy a modern production aimed at my age group where I don't have to ask my kids what everything means.

I came for Elvis and his music, stayed for Matthew McConaughey - Best choice for voicing Elvis!
Miss these 60's era shows with their Pulp Fiction style action. The humour is crude and way more reflective of that time than now which may not work for a lot of the current generation.
Overall the series has a lot of potential. I do feel the cussing and f bombs went a bit overboard but the pace and style is good.
Being set in the 60s, a lot of humour would be impossible now with everything being offensive or triggering but if people can let go of their hangups and just enjoy this series as an animation, its a fun watch.

Archer With An A-List Cast & Iconic Figurehead

An A-list voice cast paired with a cultural icon as the main character; Agent Elvis does it's best to make itself distinct, but will always be compared to other mature animations like Archer, Inside Job and anything else that revolves around secret agent missions and government conspiracies.
An animation style that is easy on the eye and a great cast including McConaughey, Olsen, Knoxville and Cheadle, this cartoon has everything to capture an audience to begin with. Then putting the King of rock'n'roll into a secret agency as the US' answer to James Bond, there's a lot to play with in the series. Cultural references galore, but tailored enough for a target audience that wouldn't have been born to experience most of them.
The serialisation gives an overall arc to enjoy across episodes, whilst dipping into random 20-minute adventures to build a greater plot. Enjoyable enough, and certainly for a mature audience, but not as funny nor as original as Archer, a series which had 14 years to establish itself as the go-to comedy spy cartoon.

Elvis 1968 to 1971 was about the coolest man on the planet. As cool or cooler than Elvis 1954 to 1958? Who cares!? This cartoon is late 60s, early 70s Elvis, reinvented in cartoon form as a Matt Helm/ Our Man Flint / Archer/ Johnny Bravo character. And ... it's cool! It's fun! It's stupid ... fun, cool stupid. The sort of Elvis fan who genuflects at his name will consider this toon romp as unforgiveable blasphemy, and will be most likely want to dump on the cartoon. I'm a fan of Elvis and have been for decades ... got a tattoo, everything he's recorded (bad and superb), etc. You don't have to be an Elvis fan to enjoy this series, but the silliness, stupid violence and general irreverence should give this wider appeal.

Am not surprised by how well people come up with crazy ideas for commodity these days in spite of the fact that the guy was an actual legend, it wasn't disturbing by the way but coming from the point that it all wasn't bad and they got the permission from maybe a family member or something is all the more interesting when attached to something, I get the idea wasn't a washed up one to begin with but the in the normal Grand scheme of things this was in it's own way prematurely disturbing am not holding it against anyone nor studio of production for what they did just an opinion from a reviewer but for worths worth i did take a little liking to it just a little so thats that.

Even though I like Elvis and I'm afraid he may be turning over in his grave over this show, I'm not writing this as an (offended) Elvis fan who thinks they didn't do him justice or portray him accurately, I'm writing this as someone who really liked the premise and was hoping for a good, entertaining show. Unfortunately, it seems to me that nowadays the only idea for an adult cartoon that American producers/creators have is lowbrow fart and dick jokes, graphic violence, and drugs. I don't have a general problem with violence and drugs, you can put them to great use (see for example Pulp Fiction). But what the writers of Agent Elvis did is so vapid, so wannabe badass, and just not funny, it's really sad that there is apparently a big audience for this kind of humor that is long past puberty. It seems like the writers were 14 year old boys who picked up most of the jokes in the school toilet, and then they tried to make every single line somehow funny, failing miserably. "I'll give you a tour of the plane. Let's start with the cockpit. That's the best part because the word 'cock''s in it." 🤦 If you seriously think this is funny, then you're probably going to enjoy Agent Elvis. Me, I don't even understand why every American cartoon show for adults seems to be comedy by default. I wish they had made Agent Elvis more in the vein of classic James Bond movies, a little trashy with humorous undertones, but otherwise not in your face comedic. There is so much more creativity and diversity in Asia. And this is coming from someone who considers The Simpsons the best TV show ever. But every American adult cartoon I've seen in the last few years sucked or was mediocre at best. And of course The Simpsons have gone to the dogs, too, so maybe there's a pattern there, or this is what the key demographic wants to see...

This is an excellent concept beautifully delivered. It reminds me of the brilliant Mike Tyson Miseries.
Netflix took a risk making this. It's obviously directed at a young to middling audience: unfamiliar with the 60s/70s celebrities/ references (me included). Not a concept that would usually get passed the first sounding board. Thank god it did. A highly original and unusual series

Yes, they missed the mark in some places, but some are right on. I was raised in the '50s and '60s, and while I heard the music (my grandma wore the grooves off of her "Hound Dog" 45), I mostly know all of the '60s movies he was in - hot lead chick and a combo that somehow sounded like a full orchestra, while the songs had forced, cheesy lyrics. Loved 'em all though.
Anyway, I like the way Elvis comes across here. They work to get in his real likes and dislikes. I like that it's set in a period of his real life. I like that sometimes the poses look like Elvis - a karate stance, for instance. While most of the characters are animated in a simpler style, his face looks like Elvis. (The same style was used on Paul. Would have liked it on Priscilla, but OK.)
Some people want an impressionist to do an Elvis voice - I disagree. I think using Matthew McConaughey is a great choice. I think he is Elvis-ish here in his personality. It's hard to like movies that try to hit an iconic accent and fail.
Don't like Don Cheadle's character. He is too weird and creepy and doesn't need to be. Maybe shouldn't have been a main character. It's like the writers thought they had to throw in something off the wall. We already had some other weirdness... like the monkey. What's with all of that character's problems? That wore me out. Take it way down.
And the main idea is "Agent" Elvis - like maybe his (real) time with Nixon and (real) fixation with law enforcement came to fruition. Should have gotten to the "agent" part much sooner.
Still, I liked the overall attempt and was waiting to see how the next season went. Of course, as I write this I find out Netflix is canceling it...

I've been an Elvis fan all my life. While I don't give a rat's about Netflix shows, I do try to check out everything new in the Elvis world and that's the only reason I turned this on. It was pretty quickly turned off.
Sex, drugs, violence, and foul language aren't things I'm bothered by, only when they're gratuitous. There's nothing clever about how this show uses them; they're put there and you're expected to laugh because they are there. That's the joke. And it is boring.
As an Elvis fan, there were a few Easter eggs that were immediately obvious to me. If I were easily amused, I might have sat on the edge of my seat and clapped through an entire series.
The show feels too modern to me; it's about as comfortable as every other half-baked cartoon series. The voice acting doesn't sit right. It's just people speaking. There are no interesting voices, nor is there any proper cartoon acting. I'm used to Matt Greoning animations and not much else -- maybe this is all just me.
Overall, the show is boring, it doesn't feel like the Elvis I know, and it is nothing worth spending any time on.

Just because it's adult animation doesn't mean it's target audience is people in their 20's, the target is Elvis fans. I'm 35 and have been a fan of Elvis' for 22 years. I'm under 40 and I don't need to reference Wikipedia to know who Dean Martin is, unlike one user review suggested. I was born in '88 and had listened to every available recording of the Martin & Lewis radio show before I was even 20. When I watch Agent Elvis and delight in the references made about the other greats of the time, I feel like the show was made specifically for me. If a show can make a viewer feel seen, then it's a good show in my opinion.
This show pokes fun at everything Col Parker wanted Elvis to be, making light of the failed attempt at a Christmas special, the terrible movies, etc. I feel like Elvis himself would get a kick out of this show, especially with it not being G or PG rated. We all know Parker would have brokered some kind of deal with someone to make it a family friendly production and sucked the joy out of it in the process. Thankfully we have Priscilla at the helm, and considering her involvement in the Naked Gun movies, I don't doubt her judgement or sense of humour.

Elvis dreamt of being the hero of a comic book. He had the jumpsuit, the cape, glitter and a whole collection of police badges, even a federal narcotics badge gifted from President Nixon.
While some fans won't appreciate the Tarantino-style language and violence, Elvis would have loved it.
With his trusty sidekick Scatter (yes, Scatter was real), and Billy Ray becoming a pastiche of the Memphis Mafia, Elvis gets to take out drug dealers, Charles Manson and infiltrate the White House (yes, that's sort-of true as well, he did turn up there and got to meet Nixon) It's raucous and inconsistent but often laugh-out-loud funny and the sprinkling of Elvis songs (thanks for using Change of Habit) add to the fun.

This show is really funny. Making references not only to Elvis himself but to sixties culture in general. Yes, it is irreverent, violent and graphic but it is a lot of fun. Every episode had me cracking up.
Obviously this show is a tribute to the King and possibly to what he liked or would liked to have been: a spy. But it is also a nice spy show.
The characters are well written and their stories are funnier as the show progresses.
I loved how the writers decided to include every possible conspiracy theory out there just for the sake of it.
This show is not for everyone but those who like this type of animation (adult swim) and this kind of humor will definitely appreciate it.
I don´t think the show need any more episodes or seasons, it works just as it is.

Huge fan of early Archer so I really really wanted this to work but after watching whole series I just came away with meh. Mathew Machonahay as Elvis worked better then I would have thought. There was no reason to cuss as much as they all do. The violence seems a bit to much in parts. But it also seems like characters are trying to be unlikable. The commander and Cece seem like there their just to be unlikable. The storylines on interesting since this whole thing is set in 1968 the year I was born so it seems only Boomers and Gen X would get the majority of the references. Which Im fine with as Archer had that 60's spy motif to their series. But I wonder how big an audience it has. I just didn't find the humor I was looking for you don't need big out loud guffaws just the snide little in jokes of archer but this seems to almost try to hard. I think I need to forget about it for several weeks then watch it again see what I think then.

It seems that all of us just can't get enough of Elvis the king of pop had such a life also, and it really scores and hams it up with this animated cartoon "Netflix" series called "Agent Elvis". Which was created by his ex Priscilla and it is one fun thrill ride it's like a pop culture back in time revisit with Elvis, while the meantime the story is far out, exciting and over the top as Elvis is moonlighting as a special agent! McConaughey is smooth and sweet lending his southern drawl to the music legend, and along the way the episodes are filled with violence, blood, it's like a graphic novel journey. And the humor is belly shattering as when you see the ex real life chimp sidekick Scatter having an absolute ball traveling with the king! The episodes are well written with pop culture references, and it nice seeing love scenes with Priscilla and going on LSD trips. It's like an adventure with Elvis as a super hero him against the world. Seeing other famous stars of the past also give all Elvis fans a little bit of nostalgia. Overall fun wonderful series that a nice treat and watch for any Elvis fan.

Kind of reminds me of the old cartoon Johnny bravo...... If you like Johnny, bravo than you will love agent, Elvis! Now I know Elvis is not for everyone but you don't need to be an Elvis fan to watch the show...... The animation is beautiful. The episodes are funny in all of the right places. Matthew McConaughey is excellent as Elvis. Lots of historical references that make you think John Eddie and Priscilla Presley did a wonderful job putting this together...... If you didn't know, Elvis wanted to be an FBI agent and this show Almost Springs, that dream of his to life. It perfectly and compasses Elvis's music and John Eddie's sense of humor all in one package. It is the perfect show for you to sit back watch and forget about life for a while.
First 3 episodes are a perfect 10. Then it slowly starts to fall off the dummy train...

Honestly the first 3 episodes are perfect episodes. They really made me binge half of this season without stopping.
And then you invite the unfunny leftist in the writing room to bore the audience with episode 5.
Episode 4 was starting to shake and then at 5 I had to stop and take a break because I got bored of the hypocrisy of being preached to? You trusted me so much for the first 3 episodes, why did you start preaching at episode 5?
How? HOW do you start so strong and then derail every effort that the writers and the studios put into the show with one terribly written episode?
Oh well I am still giving it at 8, at least the show is pretty awesome I love the action, Matthew is absolutely perfect, and the 4 main characters are great and I would love to get more of the show with just these people(Elvis, CeCe, Billy Bob and Scatter).
But stop letting unfunny people write your episodes.

The animation style is pleasing, the scenes are colourful and vibrant, which makes you want to watch it, but you soon realise it's nothing that you haven't previously seen: haven't we have much gore, violent, fast moving, and foul mouthed humour before? It offers nothing that would keep you hooked as such. Although Elvis and/Priscilla Presley fans do not need any reason as such to watch the series, for others looking for new animated sitcoms to watch, this might not be the best choice (unless you want something mindless to watch and relax). It might have worked better if it were a movie instead of a show.

This show is incredible and GREAT FUN! Too many clueless people gave their inane reviews here of a well-thought out, beautifully created series. I'm hoping it's obvious that they are way off the mark. It's supposed to be satyrical and is wickedly funny if you're paying attention. Plus, Elvis really did have a misbehaved, hard drinking, womanizing (skirt lifting) pet chimp named Scatter, which is hysterical in and of itself. Expanding on this existing monkey's character into an atypical 70s sidekick is genius. People offended by "cussing", cartoon gore, pinkish red over-the-top cartoon blood and broken bones are probably not the target demographic and should probably not be writing reviews of it since they very clearly do not get the joke.
Where is the comedy ?

I watched the first episode and did not even chuckle once. Where are the jokes ? Am i missing something ? You have many great animated shows like rock and morty, south park, family guy, Velma (just kidding) and there is nothing funny about this.
Elvis is a secret agent with a monky that sleeps with woman ok so what now give me a joke. I dident expect much from this show but there is absolutly no comedy in it and the action is sub-par. I dont think anyone should waist there time with this. The only reason it gets a 2 from me is because Velma has set the bar so low that i dont want to give it a 1 and put it on the same level.

I gotta say, I watched all the episodes. Couldn't get enough. It was some great good old fashioned animation I remember as a kid. And who is cooler than Elvis? I liked when there is fighting the background changes, very similar to the old Batman shows when "POW" or "BANG" would appear when Batman was fighting. Did he really hate Robert Goulet so much... very funny. The whole concept is a blast and it's different than anything else. I hope they made another season. Can't forget about the music, I think every episode had original Elvis music. Gotta thank Netflix for putting something so unique out.
