Slow But Okay KDrama.
AJ_McAninch1 September 2019
I don't care for corporate dramas, but I watched because I like all the leads. The writing is uneven, and sometimes plotted slowly. There are some nice scenes-especially strong women characters and three interesting love stories. However: being a strong woman does not mean you repeatedly hurt the man who loves you. Either love him, or leave him alone, because no one deserves to be continually hurt. I think the writer blew this truth.

Good Business Drama
cshaj23 January 2020
Mant people have mentioned the drama to be slow but the truth is that an business office environment is not super fast like a law office. In a business environment making a great change can take time. I really enjoyed the 3 female leads, who all had problems of their own. The romance was fine, except the romance between the main couple was annoying at times in my opinion. I really loved the business aspect of the drama, which was a change from the typical setting.

Traditionalists/romantic at heart will not like - those for women power might
leahcubed15 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
7.5/10 is my rating. What has become apparent in the modern world is how information can be manipulated to suit the agenda of powerful businesses and political figures. Bae Ta Mi (Im Soo Jung) finds herself caught between the ethics of a free public domain and the pressures brought to bear on the companies that provide Internet search services. After dedicating her youth to a company she helped to build to the top search engine, she is chosen as the fall person in a high stakes political inroad. She ouththinks/outsmarts the political players only to lose her job.

Distraught over being stabbed in the back by someone she thought of as a friend and mentor she goes to play a video game to burn off some steam. She is very competitive and used to winning at everything so when she loses the game to Park Mo Gun/Park Morgan (Jang Ki Yong), she finds the younger man intersting enough that their encounter develops into a one night stand. Park Morgan sees things differently, he has for once encountered someone he find unforgettable and decides to pursue this elusive woman whose life focus is on her career.

Park Morgan is the CEO of a company that composes music for Video Games, a part of the industry Tae Mi is involved in, so they encounter each other frequently. Meanwhile, the top competitior knows that Bae Ta Mi has the skills they need to beat Bae Ta Mi's former copany in ranking, after all she is the one that has kept the edge over them all these years. Theyg recruit her to help their company surpass and finally come out on top. This is a slice of life in the high stakes world of internet search engines with three women determined to make their mark in the industry. Can modern women really have it all?

Spoilers* I liked this but did not love it. I learned a lof in the slice of life of internet search engine industry - things I had never thought of. I really enjoyed that aspect. What I was watching it for though was the romance and that fell a bit flat. I thought the Park Morgan character was literally the perfect boyfriend/romantic partner but Bae Ta Mi was somewhat flat and cold as a character. He showered her with love and affection and I felt like she spent more time closing herself off emotionally than returning the love he so freely gave her. Others have commented, and I have to agree, that her constant emotional distancing became tiresome and it made me feel sorry for Park Morgan and feel he might be better off without her. I might have felt more sympathy for her character if they had revealed what happened to make her emotionally distant but they never did - she just was. I found the side romances more interesting than the main romance. But even those would get irritating at times. Scarlet (Lee Da Hee) was so insistant she was only a fan of Sul Ji Hwan (Lee Jae Wook) who was a rising actor, but that luckily turned the corner before it became annoying. However, when they finally came together and it turned out he was up for mandatory military service her fatalistic attitude about their relationtship was excessive. Bae Ta Mi's former mentor and major rival, Song Ga Kyung (Jeon Hye Jin), was living a miserable life in an arranged marriage under the thumb of her "evil" mother-in-law. It was apparent though, that her husband, Oh Jin Woo (Ji Seung Hyun), was in love with her and that she was with him. They were actually well suited for each other. He took responsibility for all the heartbreak and bad treatment she suffered and was willing to do nearly anything for her. I really wanted to see the two of them figure it out and reconcile sooner. None of the relationships resolved in anything that was long term. The main leads basically agreed to disagree and just let's see what happens in the future. But they broke up over that before so there was no feeling that anything resolved. Scarlet's boyfriend was still in the military and there were no promises made that she would wait for him. And CEO Song divorced her husband and was traveling and had "disappeared" from public life. There was a Thelma and Louis type ending where all three ride off into the sunset together in a show of strong women/solidarity so I suppose if you were more for the strong business woman element you might find that ending satisfying. I am a more traditional romance/happily ever after ending so I did not find that rah rah go women moment rewarding.

We need more dramas like this!!
hanalisss5 March 2021
The best thin about this drama is that it has ZERO clichés, no stupid coincidences or forced and predictable moments.

I absolutely adore the fact that all main characters are women and they don't just support their male counterparts, they decide, and fight and live their lives without needing the guy to come and save the day ( like every other drama...) The male characters are also interesting and none compromised their values or personalities for the sake of an easy way out in the development of the script.

The story is very interesting and all the relationships are just so real, beautiful, meaningful, emotional, empowering... I love how friendship and loyalty are the main focus of the show. The main leads relationship keeps always hooked and their scenes are filled with desire and attraction.

This drama is setting example of how you can have female leads and make the audience fall in love with the story and enjoy it!

I cant believe it took me so long to watch this one and it has become one of my absolute favorites.

Life, Love and Ethical Issues in the Modern Corporate World
nishera7 June 2021
I rarely give any show 10 stars, but this one earned it. If you are looking for a light, sugary love story filled with romantic thrills and fluff, this one probably won't do it for you. HOWEVER, if you like edgy corporate/business stories, featuring mature, empowered, female leads, then don't hesitate! I have never seen such a modern, intelligent K-Drama with more badass yet relatable women! (OMG, Scarlett, the drama-junkie slayed me! 😂)

While this film does feature romance and relationship struggles, the story is about so much more than that. It looks at what it means to live as a conscientious adult (both publicly and privately), examining questions of morality, freedom, justice, and the responsibilities that come with love. At the same time, it is also a celebration of modern womanhood, and all 3 of the FL's are absolutely mesmerizing in their roles. (Can I just say, HOLY COW, THE CAR DEMOLITION SCENE!!! Avenging Queens with baseball bats? Yes please!)

In addition to the layered plot and sophisticated storytelling, the entire cast was just amazing. So talented! The soundtrack was also excellent and the filmography was gorgeous. There may have been a little more experimentation with soft focus and angles than I thought necessary, but not to the point of being distracting. Also, the subtitles on Viki are a bit lacking (but may be better elsewhere).

In short, I have no idea why this K-Drama isn't more highly rated, but it's as fresh as they come, with 3 dimensional characters who will draw you in and make you cheer. If you go for "real life" stories that are as human and exciting as they are thought provoking (especially if you are a woman), you should give this one a go. HIGHLY Recommended!!!

ROMANCE RATING: * * * 9.5/10. Although the storyline for this film has too much going on for me to consider it a "true" romance drama, the scenes featuring romantic contact are plentiful as well as invested, passionate and very adult. As may be expected of a K-Drama, while there are several bedroom scenes and references to sex, nothing ever gets too explicit. I would normally give this sort of approach 8.5 stars at most, but I added a star for sheer believability. There were 5+ kiss scenes, all of which were deep and prolonged with no shortage of sexual tension all around. JKY and LSJ both did an incredible job portraying their characters' complex emotions and their chemistry together was absolutely flawless.

An almost completed show about portal web business and surprisingly has really a great romantic script.
kelvinkpofficial25 June 2020
The show was made so easy-to-understand even though it brings a really complex portal web business competition. The main girl has a really attractive personality (promise you wont get bored throughout the series :p). For me, the plus point from this series was the romantic dialog between the main casts (morgan-ta mi). The love problem with their age difference become a major problem. But its all wrapped with a really fun which the boy always has some good narration to seduce the older girl :). I know this movie can be better if the side character get a more fine ending.

This k drama is Underrated, should give it a try.
sandipnandy-1523212 May 2021
I genuinely belive this k drama is underrated. Unlike other k dramas, it focuses on real life problems more. Apart from the love, love, part of the series it has a genuine friendly side of story of 3 successful women. It is a total package of love, action, women empowerment, comedy, good climax and good ending. I would say atleast give it a try once.🤗

Good Enough
PennyReviews15 August 2019
What I didn't like about Search : WWW was:

The pace. It was kind of slow at times and they mixted the scenes a bit here and there.

The romance. It was slow at the begining. And they almost seemed like they didn't have chemistry, but that was solved quickly.

The business part. It was nice to see strong female leads, but the office story was confusing and didn't really appeal to me in the end.

Now, for what I liked:

The performances were really good from all the actresses and actors, but especially from the three ladies, who were incredible.

The second leading lady's romance. It was cute and adorable!!

The attitude of the drama.

Wrong pairing
lmerana21 September 2019
I think Lee Da Hae's partner could have been better. Maybe she should have been the partner of Jang Ki yong. Although the main female lead has a good chemistry with JKY, I find her acting insufficient for the role. Her voice is always whispering, with her eyes always widening up and her mouth barely opening and looks like pouting, I cant even understand what she's saying. The story was interesting and relevant social and political issue but it lacks more content and was just repetitive.

Worth your time
lin-1608514 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A Korean drama that portrays feminism at it's best.

Politics: Barro and Unicorn are 2 different giant web portal companies with very different work cultures. One is diverse and the other conservative with govt. support. The story evolves around these 2 work space with reasonable causes. Along the storyline, there are lessons learnt on friendship, (business and personal) relationships and trust.

Love/Romance: There are 3 kinds of love in this drama. 1. An elder woman falling in love with a young man, 2. Love grew from a fan 3. A married couple realizing love only after their divorce. All of these characters played their part well. It tends to be a bit slow on certain episodes but it is bearable and doesn't end up using the fast-forward button.

What I like: Im Soo-jung and Jang Ki-yong's are superb as a couple. Other main and supporting actors and actresses also plays it's best role to make this drama entertaining.

My take: This is good if you want to lay back, relax and enjoy watching a kdrama. The rich 'looking' status in this drama doesn't just come easily from the characters. They work hard to reach the level they are at. Unlike some kdrama, the characters are born rich and famous without any probable reason.

Positively Feminine & Empowering
WWAC22 April 2021
Liked this drama mostly because it explored the roles of woman in different positions of power in a very updated setting. They dealt with issues such as navigating relationships between an older woman and a younger man, question of marriage options and more interesting aspects.

The main couple gave me a headache.
mlaralot11 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Workaholic woman finds herself a tall, strong, kind, smart, gorgeous younger man who adores her and she tells him she sees him as one of the many fishes in her tank only. The problem, you know, is that she is too busy acting as a guardian angel for the korean population, since web portal managers need to be there round the clock to protect people against evil corporations and even the government. In orden to live such sad, stressing life, she needs lots of booze. It's not sordid... but almost.

I don't understand why he puts up with her, if not because the boy is used to be abandoned by the important women in his life.

P. S: Turn off the lights during the day. That might save you more than 7 million dollar a year. If you've watched the show, you know what I mean.

There are many lessons to be learned from this drama
kimisuki4 December 2021
Friendship, business, romance, about separation, about differences of opinion, family, for the storyline may be fairly slow, but the development in the story starting from the conflict is very beautiful, there are so many lessons that can be taken from the drama.

Great tech oriented drama!
EC10_Violation1 November 2021
This is no Start-up, with cliched directing, story, love line. This was the epitome of tech/office focused drama that I have seen compared to past and future dramas like My Holo Love, Alhambra etc. Everything about it was tastefully executed to the highest degree. Perfect example is the advertising, very blatant that Maserati was a sponsor but the fact that I didn't have to watch awkward scenes that take away from the story as in eating pizza or sandwiches everyday and awkward acting when trying to talk and show the product within the story. The casting was excellent. Really disappointed that I didn't watch this sooner on other service but definitely a watch.

Promising plot, Disappointing screenwriting.
rookiewookie15 June 2021
The plot was good and promising. Actors too did well.

But the screenwriting was a let down. You wouldn't be able to emotionally attach or connect to the show completely, nope not even for a min. Screenplay was really a let down.

alaningle73 November 2021
Two web portals compete to be the top search engine, whilst facing difficult decisions and outside interference. The main characters are the 3 women who work at these companies and their tangled personal life's. It is an original and interesting plot and all the actors do a sterling job. Nicely paced over 16 episodes and good to see all the main protagonists are strong females.

People Missing the Point on This One
lokis_mistress7 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The reviews on this are interesting. So many really high ratings which speaks to the quality of this movie, but also so many complaints that show that it went over the heads of many.

The acting and casting of this film are fantastic but it was the subtlety of the magnificent cinematography that was the true star. Without being too artsy or try hard this movie had some truly incredible scenes. The director gets full points for not always needing to rely on an overloaded script to convey a rather complex message. This is likely one of the reasons that some viewers found the pace to be slow in parts. It's to convey that what is happening emotionally is not on the surface.

The concept of three equally engaging, completely separate but also entwined lead stories was a brilliant style. Not sure why so many people prefer formula writing. What's the point of a storyline that follows the rules?

The character development is wonderfully complex and diverse and in fact it RELIES on the formulas of the drama genre to tell pieces of the story that don't need explaining. Explaining the obvious would insult the intelligence of the viewer.

The strength of the female leads is noted in other reviews but again so much is missed. Rather than using obvious tropes of "strong women do this" the strength is actually told by the male leads, which is perfection. The women develop a supportive relationship but don't need to necessarily like each other. Their mutual level of respect is enough and THAT is something that we definitely need to see more of in film.

The story's most "non-formulaic" aspect might be the distinct age gap, which the entire point of tension for that couple revolves around. Arguably the lead couple, they share a lot of screen time that is focused on the tug of war this dynamic creates. I think the reason many viewers find this frustrating is simply being used to relationship drama being dramatic. External rather than internal. This story shows lack of movement because it IS frustrating to be in that situation. You are stuck between a rock and a hard place. However while a typical drama creates tension that's derived from dealing with unfair circumstances and often society based expectations to wrestle with, this situation legitimately creates logistical challenges.

I'm not sure why the emphasis was placed on marriage rather than family but this is a very real situation that many experience who didn't get married and start a family in their twenties. If you never found "your One" and didn't have kids by 35 then you face real challenges in new relationships. Even if you have always wanted children but never found the S. O. to pair up with, you rearrange your priorities. Period. You have to. So if you are suddenly faced with a S. O. that is still very much in the running for the white picket fence, and WANTS that, what do you do? You must weigh the need to be with them with the need to give those you truly love the opportunity to find their own happiness. When you are that much older you KNOW you know things they don't know yet so the burden is on you to carry the weight of that choice.

Anyway, this entire show was superb. One of my top three for sure.

Not sure who the real star is in this K-Drama
PalmBeachG20 March 2022
I rated this K-Drama all 8 stars for the actors, not the writer. The actors/actresses in this K-Drama all seem to be sort of equal through no fault of their own. It was the way the K-drama was written that kind of made it seem like there was 3 equal stories going on at the same time, and I didn't really like that. My favorite actor is Jang Ki-yong who played Park Mo-gun, a 28 year old Game Sound CEO and Director who is in love with a 38 year old career woman working for a Search Engine Company who is pitted against her previous employer who was the #1 Search Engine Company. It was very frustrating to watch Park Morgan get rebuffed so many times that I couldn't stand it anymore, however I kept watching and finally enjoyed Episode 9 when a different backstory appeared and I had tears in my eyes for that. I stuck it out and wasn't 100% satisfied with the way it ended, but it at least I could sleep at night.

Slow but interesting but
TheodoraEh20 November 2021
Wow the amount of Maserati. Every single member of the cast drives one. We see all the models. I had no idea they are this noisy, there'd be a romantic quiet conversation and then one person gets in the car and drives away making extreme noise and everyone is cool about it lol. I guess noise pollution isn't an issue. I'm sure the sound director didn't appreciate it either.

Warning: Spoilers
Its a well written corporate drama with a beautiful ending! This is a must watch for anyone who is a sucker for well-written love story. The other characters developed well! The second leads love story was also really nice! There was good humor! Good to note that the lead actors spent enough time together that the hardship they went through during their break up felt realistic. I wish they had developed the third leads love story too. They seemed to have some good vibes going on. Im still wondering why you are reading this review! Go watch! Just watch! You will definitely love it! I would definitely recommend .

It's better than been rated
john-norman-244-87706815 February 2024
This is great show about powerful women in Korea. Very unusual for this culture. There is a fair love story of Bae Ta Mi (Lim Soo- Jung) and Park Morgan (Jang Ki-Yong). But romance really comes from role between Oh Jin Woo (Ji Seung- Hyon) and Song Ga Kang ( Jeon Hye- Jin). The other female lead is Cha- Hyeal (Lee Dan- Hee). That has a romance story as well. But the main story is strong women acting and performing in a competitive business environment. They have functions that are critical to their companies. They are both rivals and respected frenemies. While the show plays out for the third time, I am impressed with the acting and script.
