One of the most heartfelt episodes of the entire series
mikeysmovies30 March 2019
An ending which elevates this episode to one of the most heartfelt of the entire series. 'Over the Hill' successfully pulled together everything that Still Game was about - friendship, life and laughs to provide an ending fitting of such a great show. It's emotional, shocking, and makes it easy to forget how forgettable some of series nine has been. Yes, it could've been funnier and it could've produced a more coherent story - but what the finale (and indeed the entire series) did achieve was packed full of heart, with definition and finality to each characters arc.

You'll feel shocked at first, perhaps even disappointed, but once the final scene closes - you'll know that Ford and Greg did right by the characters...You know, before the overwhelming sense of loss sets in and you begin grieving as the show departs our screens forever. Goodbye Still Game, you will live long in the patter of Scots everywhere.

Farewell craiglang

I didn't know this was the last series, I have watched this since 2002 when it started. This isn't a review in content or jokes or context , this is a fan review. With any series of your hooked your hooked and i fell for these guys, it's an intelligent comedy, and I can only recommend this to all. This last episode though, tear jerker to the end. Bobbie, forever now as a character, I respect you .

Farewell, it's been a blast.

Warning: Spoilers
One of the best sitcoms ever finally comes to an end. Over the years we have taken these characters to our hearts. It's sad to finally say goodbye, but it's good that the series is ending whilst it is still good. The final montage where we see the major characters fading away one by one is exceptionally moving. If you are a fan of Still Game you will need a heart of stone not to feel a lump in your throat and goosebumps on your arms.

A sweet and emotional ending to the series

I didn't see this coming until Jack and Victor start walking up the mountain, to avoid spoilers the fans know what happens. It was sweet, it was sad, it was the story of best friends and a unique fictional Scottish community. The thing is that I could see myself in their place if I outlive my wife, going to the pub every day and and getting into trouble and having fun with my best friend. This was truly a unique show and thankfully I still should be able to go back to the beginning and watch it all again after this sinks in.

I will miss Criaglang!!

Wonderful, just wonderful. The best British sitcom for many a year. The best (in my opinion) since Gavin and Stacey. I have the same feelings as when I finished G&S, that I will actually miss the characters.

I am very sad it has come to an end, but a very moving ending.

A fantastic show. I wish more sitcom writers would realise that it is not farce that makes something funny, but true characterisation.

How do you not love these characters?

Warning: Spoilers
As an American, I put this show up there with the best television shows ever (premium cable shows excluded). I was a huge fan of Fawlty Towers and Derry Girls and heard that this Scottish comedy would be right up my alley. And I'm so glad I started watching on Netflix. I fell in love with all the characters, especially Isa, and felt the tears rolling down my face at the end. Of course I had the CC on for the whole series, and I've even adopted some of the colorful phrases and words into my everyday speech (i.e. Manky). I wish Craiglang was a real place; I'd definitely spend some time there. But I do know that whenever I need a Clansman fix I know where to go.

Not a perfect ending... but a satisfying one

So that's Still Game done. I know myself and a lot of other fans will agree that it's not been the same since it came back in 2016 and I thought that the first few episodes of this season were some of the show's worst, so needless to say I wasn't very optimistic that they'd give us a good ending, especially when the season 6 finale worked as a conclusion. But I thought it was pretty good, it managed to capture what Still Game is all about - community and friendship, the ending also made me quite emotional.

A sad end to a once great show
sjc-378702 April 2019
In the good old days of Series 1-6 this show would have you laughing for a solid 30 minutes. On it's return it became a tired parody of itself - rolling out call backs and lazy, stale versions of previously successful plot lines and punchlines without hitting the laughs.

This final episode meanders towards it's conclusion and feels as rushed and slapdash as much of series 9. The jokes don't land, the patter isn't as quick and effortless as before and you quietly tumble from scene to scene remembering how it used to be; laugh a minute comedy.

Revealingly one of the worst missteps in this shows history, Methadone Mick appears only for the briefest of moments. Other characters are quickly given their time in the limelight before the final goodbye. Isa gets involved with chuggers, the lads plan to climb a mountain and minute by minute you realise it's ending with a whimper as the clock ticks down to on the final 30 minutes and very little funny happens.

Goodbye Still Game - we will always have the first six series, I'll be letting the rest fade away like the characters did at the end of the episode - peacefully forgotten.
