From the narrations in season 1 and the history books shown, around 100 years ago (specifically, 107 years from chapter 2 of the manga), the first ruler of the Walls, King Fritz the 145th created the walls to protect humanity.

When a someone gains a titan power, their remaining lifespan is set to 13 years due to "Ymir's Curse". Same number of years between the royal family's succesion ritual.

"145th king" means there have been 145 weilders of the Founding Titan at that time. 145 x 13 = 1885. So 107 years ago, it has been 1885 years from Ymir Fritz.

At present time (1885 + 107) it would be 1992 years since Ymir Fritz.

Eren got his titan power at age 10, he's supposed to die when he's 23. Currently, Eren is 15 and has around 8 years left to live.

1992 + 8 = 2000... What was the title of the first episode again? Oh yeah, "To you, in 2000 years." No biggie, nothing to see here.

I started watching the show a few weeks ago and up until this episode there were only a couple other episodes that were close to 10/10. This episode for me is a 10/10. It's absolutely fantastic. So much loredrop and it all makes sense and comes together perfectly like the grand puzzle that Attack On Titan essentially is.

This is a slow episode with no jaw dropping moments until you pay attention. In the last moment, the owl says 2 names, i wont spoil it, but what the hell that means??? Damn, AoT is the new GoT, when GoT was still the best series ever! This is a review from a manfa reader while pretending he knows nothing!! Attack on Titan begins next season lads!

The End of Attack On Titan, The Beginning of Shingeki No Kyojin

A legendary episode that marks the end of Attack On Titan, and the beginning of Shingeki No Kyojin. Genius writing by Isayama with a plot twist or a 'Title Twist', revealing the true meaning of the title and changes the direction of the story completely.

While this episode gives us answers, it also provides us with a question after Krugers final monologue.. a question answered in S4 e20!! The writing and story in this show is seriously on another.level! The next episode also contains a key moment that explains Eren's motivations in season 4! There are just so many things you will glance over on first watch, but will make sense upon multiple rewatches and as the show progresses! Some shows do not hold up to multiple rewatches... AOT is the exception! It only gets better.

Salute to the team behind this show. The least that I can say is that I was gobsmacked, words can't describe how I feel right now. The show is just astonishing and each episode is full of information and mysteries. Once they reveal a secret, another appears so quickly. Have to mention that the ending was unexpected and so mind blowing. Without hesitation, this episode worths 10/10.

I have to be honest i hated attack on titan half a year ago and found it a little boring/not interesting but This now feels really good. The writing is super and the story has finally been revealed to us in a really good way. This anime is slowly becoming on my top 5 of all time.

I really hope continue until the end because i have been seeing the manga and it is amazing the plot of the history of this anime, in retrospective you could never imagined from the first chapter to reveal such complexity of the story

Response to tschmauck's review: Yes, your math is correct. But you need to remember, that 13 years is a maximum remaining lifespan for a titan-shifter. Some of the kings, probably, had this power less than 13 years due to some reasons. That's why Grisha's father told in the previous episode, that Ymir lived 1820 years ago and not almost 2000 years ago.

Episode was absolutely amazing. I waited for that title drop to be animated for years, and I am not disappointed. Oh, and that plot twist at the end of the episode...

Because the show creators and those who created the manga surely would deserve at least this much feedback from us for all they've done with this amazing show.

Unlike shows or movies that slap the viewer in the face (cough... Game of Thrones season 8, cough The Last Jedi). This show entrusts the viewers with the fact that they will be faithful to this show out of the countless mysteries along the way only to have their minds blown at episodes like this one or the previous.

Can't find any more ways to compliment this show which after the high marks I've seen on youtube and the hype around it has lived up to it or even surpassed them. It's pointless to say the VA and animation or music were superb because they were out of this world (no mortal animes can touch them), but I'll say that I haven't been more satisfied and invested into a show since LOST (and I watched that as a kid who didn't have too much experience). And that is saying something since over the years I've seen a lot of shows and movies, but none caught me like this show did.

ATTACK ON TITAN IS THE BEST ANIME EVER. This episode is perfect and in consistency with the perfection of previous episodes. I mean, it's phenomal is what this is. If you're not watching this anime just do it. JUST DO IT. 10/10
