Here is a short film which builds a tense atmosphere right to the end. Two couples driving home on a rainy night make decisions that will have dire consequences.
The story feels a little bit like it drew from urban legends about killers in the back seat, hooks for hands, and those sorts of things. It involves a mysterious hitchhiker in a bright yellow raincoat. Two people, who happened to be a couple, react differently to the hitchhiker's unusual behavior.
UPDATE: I recently saw a short film made years earlier titled "Panic." It was the exact same story, which means "Left Turn" is a remake. I'm not sure that I prefer one over the other; I would say that Left Turn built an atmosphere of foreboding from the beginning, while Panic kind of sneaks up on you.
