The CEO is away, so the authorities have sent in Lieutenant Ffinch, with 2 f's to take command, the men don't take well to the highly educated, well spoken Officer, and soon set about making his life very difficult.
I know this one is very much of its time, but I very much think that the later episodes are so much better. Ffinch could have been a really affective, funny character, he was just too silly.
There are a few amusing moments here, but you have to accept that TV is very much still in its infancy here, it's very raw, and a little rough around the edges.
One thing I've definitely come to realise, is that it's Alfie Bass who made the show, Bootsie really is the consistent, funny character, I'd argue he stands head and shoulders above the rest.
It would get more funny with time.
