The New Boss
Hitchcoc17 January 2023
So now this woman is going to be around for a decade. She is intractable and, of, she is from New York. I hope now they can ignore her and get back to issues. She is put forth as a mini-bones and an intimidator. The case is about a couple big shots who get themselves killed. They were doing things they should not have been doing. I did think that Spam made a pretty good human substitute. I can only imagine what the lab smelled like, especially if the stuff was scorched. I will be interested to see if there is as much chemistry or if she can be absorbed into the ethos. Oh. Zacharoni and Hodgepodge are sort of cute--I guess.

The One With The New Boss...
taylorkingston22 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this episode. It wasn't amazing, but I enjoyed seeing a new face in the lab, and the investigation of this particular episode is quite interesting.

In this episode, the Jeffersonian has a new boss, well, at least Bones' group do. Dr. Cam. Saroyan, a medical examiner from New York, who just so happens to have a romantic past with Booth. And while Bones won't admit it, you can tell she's bothered by Booth's ex. But they've got murders to solve. In this particular episode, three people are killed by a train wreck, one of whom is a U.S. senator. Could this be the reason they died? Or was it just an accident?

Best part of this episode: Nothing in particular.

Worst part of this episode: Nothing in particular.

Overall, I give this episode a 7 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Great.

To the bones booth podcast, Hello Camille
scroggology20 March 2021
I'm rewatching with the fab podcast "the bones booth" and loving it. Great intro to cam! I love the trust between booth and brennan, while she doesn't believe in visiting the gravesite of her mother she trusts booth that it's the right thing to do. They each always learn and grow because of the other. I hope the podcast makes it through all 12 seasons. I look forward to it!

Nice introduction episode of Dr. Camille Saroyan
murasakiotto14 October 2009
I found this series interesting from the beginning of season one and have seen many of the season one episodes. Here in Tokyo, this series is shown as a late late show starting from 3:10AM on Wednesday night (Thursday morning) and most of the time I recorded it to watch on the weekend, whenever I remembered. All of the cast are very attractive and good, and most of the stories were good. Still, it did not give me the urge to remember to see all. The reason, I myself did not realize until seeing this season two starter, was that the relationships between the characters were just " push" and "pull" ( I don't know a good English expression). Sam Cullen played by John M. Jackson, I though, was the guy to bundle the team, but was not even a regular cast. As for Dr. Goodman, I didn't even notice that he was a boss. I was getting a little tired of seeing this "making of mannerism" series but gave it a try last night which was this season two starter. Dr. Camille Saroyan is a great character to "catch and release" the difficult and unique characters (sorry again, I don't know a good expression) and also seems to become a strong and reliable boss. Of course this is because of the very talented Ms. Tamara Taylor, whom I have seen for the very first time, and makes me wonder how deep the American TV industry is to bring in such a wonderful but unknown (sorry!) actor to this show. I am urged to see all the episodes from now on.

Here comes Dr. Saroyan

Warning: Spoilers
I laughed when I read a reviewer saying that the show is just about Bones and everyone is a cheerleader lol she's the main character alright but take away the squints and she's boring.. she becomes a "superman" kind of character as in being able to do everything therefore annoying and predictable.. and also remove Booth and there's no one to balance her lack of humor and humane touch.

Also the first episode to feature the diner..

Ahh I really didn't like Bones' comment to the firefighter.. "there are thousands of you but just one of me" damn.. that's extremely arrogant.. and I wonder if she would have the same mindset had she been in a fire in a building and that same firefighter right there beside her to rescue her... guess she wouldn't be this condescending, right?

Nevertheless, those end scenes with just the two of them, Bones and Booth, those are the moments that brought them together, Booth teaching her not to be the scientist all the time and also she became someone he could tell things about his past.. and that's why they started developing their feelings for each other.

Accidentally on Purpose Warning: Spoilers
This episode is all about the interpersonal. The crime of the week really takes a backburner as we try to navigate everyone's relationship with Cam as the new boss. While Cam and Bones are standoffish throughout the episode, you can tell that Cam is not a bad person. Like Booth says, Cam's goal is a successful prosecution and Bones' is the truth. The team seemed to get along with her pretty well before Bones comes back from vacation, and Booth and Cam clearly have some history. Things to note: Sweet baby jesus Booth, you can't just shove drugs into someone's mouth to get them to talk. He really acts like, to quote Hodgins, "a wank-tard" that entire scene. Cam's nicknames were something. I wish they didn't keep replaying the sound of the elbow and shoulder popping out 🤢

A line I loved: I am a diuretic seagull. Hi the Bones Booth :)

Hey Bones Booth pod!!!

This was a great premiere episode. I will miss Dr. Goodman but sooo excited to see Cam. I love how her character is tough but fair and is fiercely loyal right away. I enjoy some good mac n cheese but everyday is just too much Zackaroni. Booth's line "Oh like a jar. Why can't we just say a jar" so funny. The first appearance of the Royal Diner! I need to hear the story of why everyone in unison says no to Zack being a trial witness lol.

Welcome to the Bones Booth, Cam!

Warning: Spoilers
Overall, I'd say this is a pretty good good episode. Not one I constantly rewatch, but it's one I always enjoy (minus the horrible bone popping/crunching noises, thank you). Love Cam! Glad we're on our way to making her part of the squad. Although I didn't remember her being quite so dislikable from the onset. Bones straight up caressing Booth's shoulder during the stake out gives me LIFE. As someone who has watched this show over and over but tends toward the later seasons, Booth's violence early on in the show is still jarring Favorite scene has to be when Booth sides with Bones. Booth knows she's not the cold, unfeeling person she seems. Also, the reappearance of VERY close talking 😂

Boring story, but some interesting parts
mitchrmp13 July 2016
I'm not a fan of Cam at all. I haven't liked her in the entire eleven seasons. I don't like that Booth has a "thing" for her in the beginning (but perhaps that because I'm already convinced Booth and Brennan are an item).

There's more revealed on Brennan's story involving her parents. I won't reveal anything, but it doesn't shed good light on her father. We'll continue to learn more as the season progresses.

The main story isn't that great - I've watched it twice and I guess it just doesn't hold my interest enough for me to totally understand it. But the show is worth the watch to meet Cam and get info on the parents.

Not A Favorite
PartialMovieViewer2 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A great show, but the new boss-intro is poorly done. Cam comes off as a bully, which is fine, but she never softens. This show is about Bones and, to some extent, Booth - the rest are cheerleaders. Cam should have been happy as an overpaid cheerleader, and not try and take center stage later in the season. Cam is mean and uninteresting.

Update: binged on Bones again and I must update my observation/opinion of the new boss. Tamara is a fine actor, but the character stinks and drags the show downhill. Very unlikeable personality, clearly a bully, with a huge chip on her shoulder that never exits the show until its final demise. Why would any of these folks bother going to the lab anymore? Her narcissistic presence and pushy attitude had to be uncomfortable for others onset. After Cam's arrival they should have changed the name of "The Jeffersonian", to the "The Cringe-a-sonian."
