Carol is shocked when an ad makes her look awfully stupid.
planktonrules15 July 2018
Carol and June are both friends who have been hired to pose for an ad for hosiery. When the ad debuts, Carol is furious as the ad makes her look like a loser. So she gets her friend Grady to sue the company. Soon, after an injunction, the ad campaign and the finances of the company are all tied up. A rival company offers to pay Carol to continue the suit and the plaintiffs try to pay her to drop the suit. Soon they're involved in a bidding war....and Carol has many options.

This is a clever but not excessively funny little comedy. In other words, don't look for big laughs...just an enjoyable and cute film that is worth seeing if you like old time comedies.

Warning: Spoilers
No, this is not a story about happy young bovines! Of the 4 film shorts of the "Blondes and Redheads" series I've seen, clearly this has the weakest screen play. It's all based on the idiotic newspaper ad by Reddington-Reynolds, displaying their supposedly superior 'fool-proof' hosiery on 2 models: petite, squeaky-voiced, gum chewing, blonde Carol, and tallish, statuesque, non-gum-chewing, redheaded(we assume) June. But under Carol's photo, she is labeled a 'dumbbell', because her stockings inexplicably are wrinkled! Insanely ludicrous. As a result, Carol has her newly minted lawyer/boyfriend: Grady plead her case that her character was unjustly defamed. As a result, an injunction is placed on the company forbidding them to sell their hosiery! The company brass then invite Carol to a gathering to discuss the situation. She is offered up to $13,000, to lift the injunction. But, the 'dumbbell' refuses! Instead, she just wants an apology, saying she is not a 'dumbbell', which the men say in unison. In the last scene, we see Grady, then Carol, then June, emerge from a limo. Then, Carol holds up a new newspaper, showing June wearing wrinkled hose, with Carol trumpeting "Now, who's the 'dumbbell'!
