Can I get a "hell yeah!"
uncleoyster3 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
First comment after viewing the episode: Now THAT is how you put your band of heroes back on track after several episodes of misery!

Daniel finally gets to go to Atlantis. Yay. SG-1 has a dual mission to accomplish: Daniel&Vala use the Atlantis library to search for the two remaining possible locations for Merlin's weapon, while the others attempt to occupy the Ori Supergate by establishing a wormhole from a black hole in the Pegasus galaxy to the Supergate. The "how" is ingenious, and I won't try to explain it. Oh, and Rodney gets to help out, which is actually a good thing. On his own the man is intolerable, but his interactions with Carter are hilarious!

They manage to keep the action and suspense going throughout the episode; the "gate team" try and fail in their mission, while a Wraith ship approaches. Daniel/Vala make a startling discovery about the library interface. When Daniel senses something's wrong, you just KNOW something awesome is about to happen, and when she turns to him and speaks...goosebumps! Oh, and Teal'c destroys an Ori ship.

Like Chrichton would've said: Can I get a HELL YEAH! 10/10.

The gate is back
masschaos29 July 2006
I've been extremely skeptical about Ben Browder in the lead of this iconic show of science fiction -- even my long time favorites as Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson), Amanda Tapping (Colonel Carter), and Teal'c (Christopher Judge), and most of his appearances have been forced, trying to fill Richard Dean Anderson's (General Jack O'Neill, two L's) formidable shoes, which is entirely forgivable. But this episode is in a league of its own and Browder (Colonel Mitchell) manages to integrate himself (at least in my eyes) into the universe of the Stargate.

The Pegasus Project has rejuvenated the series for me and hints at much more to come. I was especially pleased with everybody's performance and the reclamation of Stargate in my eyes as the top of its class in writing, imagination, and concept. My hat's off to everyone responsible for this, thank you!

Eight "Ba-al" in Side Ori Pocket, Wrath on a Wraith!
XweAponX16 July 2014
I always thought those Ori ships looked like Pool Tables. Well, here in this Ep, Carter and Mitchell with the help of Rodney Mackay sink one into the side pocket, and snatch a Wraith-Ship-Boobie-Prize on the way out.

Back then, I was mostly P'd off that Sci-Fi had sunk Farscape in order to elongate Stargate SG-1, and I was non-plussed when Ben Browder and Claudia Black magically showed up. But now that I have seen all of their Stargate Eps, this was a smart move, and they fit right in, Claudia being perfect to bounce off of Mike Shanks- And bounce she does.

But the magic of this episode is the magic of connecting two shows and two galaxies: Stargate SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis. If only there had been more crossovers like this, and there were in fact many crossover Eps. But this is possibly the best combined Ep of SG-1 and Atlantis that ever was.

As SG-1 arrives in the Pegasus Galaxy, the one thing that stands out is the magnificent image of Atlantis from the spaceship "Odyssey's" Bridge, you can see the full production value of the SG-1 Matte Painters and Digital Artists, who were just a few notches higher than Atlantis- Not to infer that Atlantis was done badly, but SG-1 had grown as a series and so they had the digital and Matte shots perfected, while it took Atlantis a few years to "rise up" to that level of quality.

That said, this story is a two-headed giant: While Vala (Claudia Black) and Daniel have a Tete-A-Tete with what they initially think is the Atlantis "Teaching Hologram" - Mitchell (Browder) and Carter drag Rodney Mackay off with them in the Oddysey so they can ignite one of the Ori's "SuperStarGates"- So they head out to the first black hole accretion disk they can find and start lobbing bombs through a regular Mini-Stargate to try to fire up the Superdupergate.

Teal'c has carefully chosen his donuts while he waits in the Milky Way for the bombs to show up, so now, we have a perfect 360 from Pegasus to Stargate Command to Teal'c and back to Pegasus via Teal'c. But the discussion can only travel one way because of the black hole! So Dr Weir (Torri Higgens) has to call Stargate Command who has to call Teal'c who can then call up the Odyssey - To tell em a Wraith ship is on the way!

Even if I had not said, you know there would have been a Wraith ship on the way, because they always show up.

Well - This episode cleverly disposes of both Wraith and Ori ships, and crimp the Ori's Galactic Domination plans until the end of the season - And all it took was One 8-Ball into the Side Ori Pocket!

Possibly the best written episode of the series, and I did not even hit on Daniel and Vala's adventures in Holography.

They're Not Going to Help Us
fcabanski7 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Dr. Jackson utters the line mentioned in the title after an ascended ancient helps them. He's not being very accurate.

SG-1 + Atlantis = pretty darned good.

McKay + Sam = I think it's kind of unfair to the Ori.

Exploration in Camelot was hollow, because it was nothing new. SG-1 learned nothing from it. But in this episode the exploration was exciting. It was what makes Stargate great. Daniel and friends learn something new. And the exploration is different than what's been seen.

SG-1 and Atlantis were getting tired by this time. The mystery was gone. Finding yet another stone wall, yet another clunky ancient device, yet another Goa'uld jar or trinket was becoming mundane. The entire stargate universe often felt mundane. But this episode made it mysterious again, fun again, out of the ordinary. It was like the movie or early days of the series, when each discovery had a wow factor.

I forgot how annoying seeing everyone wear an earpiece was. I didn't forget how annoying Weir's habit of making statements as questions was? Or how annoying her half question? half statement statements were.

Both the Ori and Wraith make an appearance in this episode. An immediate and constant threat should be immediate and constant. Having time to hunt lizards makes the Ori threat seem small. Not being able to make a move without Ori and Wraith showing up makes both threats seem big.

Atlantis and the Supergate
claudio_carvalho27 February 2022
The SG-1 suspects that Merlin's weapon might be in Atlantis and Daniel and Vala head to the base. They are welcomed by Dr. Elizabeth Weir that shows the library to them and explains that they should question a hologram. But soon Daniel notes that the hologram is indeed Morgan le Fay. Meanwhile Sam and Mitchell are on board of the Odyssey with the scientist Dr. Rodney McKay expecting to change the route from the superstargate using nuclear warheads to send any new Ori warship to a distant place.

"The Pegasus Project" is another good episode of "Stargate SG-1" with two storylines. They are entertaining but with nothing new. My vote is eight.

Could've Been Great, But Opportunity Lost
Easygoer1010 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
With lines like "Moments over, lets go save the galaxy", who can go wrong? This is woeful. The only episode which has both SG1 & SGA's adversaries. The writer should have made SG1 fans know who the Wraith are. They didn't. This is flawed thinking. Too bad, as casts from both shows are in this & the writers blew the chance to make it so much better. One thing is certain: Regardless of the fact that Ben Browder was the first choice to play the lead (John Sheppard) on SGA, Joe Flanigan is a far better actor. He conveys more emotion with fewer words. His screen presence is stronger as a result. Too bad the writers did a bad job not detailing the Wraith for SG1 fans. Also the MCKay humor factor is over-used. As a sum total, all of this equals a great opportunity blown by bad choices. One thing is very clear: Martin Gero is the worst of all SGA writers and producers. In spite of all these issues, it's still a terrific episode.

Great Segway

Love the addition of Atlantis.

The McKay Character is a distraction.

Most Military would take him to a obscure location and blanket party him. He is not a comic relief.

You could have done without him.

Still a great show.

Atlantis

Cool to see a full on SG1 and Atlantis crossover and with a well developed storyline. The concept was interesting and the effects and CGI looked good.
