Even though this episode spans into a 2 part series, this is a remarkable, ahead of its time storyline.
A handful of Joes are zapped into an alternate universe where Cobra has won a final war and the Joes are considered rebels.
One of the darkest episodes I can recall as a kid. The way they attempt to function in a Cobra controlled world is dark and I can't imagine being in a writer's room to discuss how Cobra Commander would actually rule. They smartly elected to keep it villainous. Though a very uncomfortable exchange happens at a Mom and Pop market at the beginning where we learn the public seems to adapt to how the world is now. Not many people remember the Joes. But it also grounds itself into the fact that they are in an alternate universe. This concept stolen repeatedly by DC and Marvel.
Way ahead of its time.
