Josh should have taken Doris with him.

Warning: Spoilers
ON ONE HAND I do agree with other reviewers that this is not the best episode of this series. Lori Nelson is not believable as a woman who has spent the majority of her life with indians. She probably would not speak English and she would not look a great as she does, even though she is considered to be the Apache chief's daughter and a princess. She would also be uneducated and possibly a bit wild. ON THE OTHER HAND I still managed to enjoy this story. I thought Josh was not only a good sport, but he made a valient effort to win the hand of White Antelope (AKA Doris Albright). In my own mind I try to salvage this episode by making a suggestion which would alter Josh's life and would alter this TV series. White Antelope was already Josh's wife according to Apache law. She was ready and prepared to be faithfully his forever. Josh should have taken her with him and married her in a civil ceremony. Josh was concerned that his way of living would be no good for her. BUT JUST THINK. She was raised as an indian. She could handle anything that traveling with Josh could throw at her, and he could teach her about a different way to live. Doris would possess many skills which would be useful. I picture Josh and Doris eventually finding a place and settling down. Anyway, that's how I re-imagine this story. Do you ever like to change a story in your own mind?

A Stupid Episode
ccthemovieman-113 November 2006
Every once in a while, a goofy episode comes along....and this is one of them. Josh is hired, for $1,000, to go to a nearby Apache tribe and marry someone. The idea is for him to get the woman back to her original father, "Mr Albright," (Patrick McVey). He's the man who has hired Randall for the job. Two others in the past had failed but Mr. Albright is "man enough" to be successful at this. The woman had been abducted by the Indians when she was three and the father wants his daughter back. He figures if she gets married, the groom can bring her out of the reservation and back to him and since Apache law doesn't apply to the white man's territory, Josh won't be bound by the marriage. This is the time to do it because the Apache have three days of peace and love (Woodstock?) and will be in a good mood. I told you this one was sappy. Albright's helper, "Yanqui Jones," (Than Wyenn), an Indian trader, goes along with Josh. The two encounter a somewhat-hostile party waiting for them, including the woman, now named "White Antelope" (Lori Nelson) who speaks perfect English, has makeup and a new perm despite being raised by Apaches and living in a tepee. She almost looked like June in "Leave It To Beaver." How Josh goes about trying to solve the situation, you'll have to see, but it's not one of the better episodes, albeit a change of pace from the norm. Women might like this one.

An Episode Better Not Made
Easygoer1026 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I am a huge Steve McQueen fan. I own almost every film he ever made, plus the entire boxed set of this TV series: "Wanted: Dead or Alive". However, this has to be the worst episode out of all 3 seasons. That is pretty bad when you realize there are a total of 94 episodes! The plot makes no sense at all. Josh agrees to help a man get his daughter back from an Indian tribe that kidnapped her when she was only 3 years old. It involves a foot race, a wrestling match, and finally Josh kills a man in self defense (of course). No thought is even given to the man dying. All of this is for the right to "marry" the girl. It's pretty bad. Even so, I like it simply to watch Steve McQueen with Lori Nelson (the guest star), who is a gorgeous blond actress. They all cant be great!
