Outstandingly funny
jackdodd_adv14 April 2007
I've seen them all, and this is the one that I come back to over and over again for being the most memorable, most enjoyable, and funniest. The best aspect of this series is being able to step back and forth from serious and touching plot to side-splitting funny scenes and lines, without either aspect spoiling the other. This episode epitomizes that trait.

And the funny scenes really play the characters out and allow them to step out of the ordinary situations (for SG1). It's a joy to watch Colonel O'Neill and Teal'c handle Dr. Jackson's pedantic nature, Carter's techno-jargon, amuse themselves with careless whims, and adapt to the frustrating wackiness of their time trap.

The saving grace of this series is that they take themselves lightly rather than seriously.

If you want to introduce someone to SG1, this is the most approachable episode.

Must See
onegemini778 July 2010
Another one of those episodes that is a must see. Especially if you enjoy the humor of Jack O'neill's (two l's) character. I am not going to write specifics, as I do not want to spoil it. This episode mainly revolves around O'neill and Teal'c, though the rest of the cast is involved. I will just say that this is one of those episodes that really has nothing to do with the main plot of the series, yet as a stand alone episode, it is one of the best. A very entertaining piece that really allows for Richard Dean Anderson's humor to come forth. There are numerous scenes that allow for some great interaction between the stoic Teal'c and the oh so not serious O'neill.

Few episodes are as funny as this one!
cagross21 January 2007
I really had fun watching this episode. It's a variation of "Groundhog Day", which is obviously not a new idea but still worked out nicely. I guess it's Col. O'Neill's dry humor and Teal'c's stoic mannerisms that really do the trick. They're stuck in a time loop and while they are trying to fix it the two of them are the only ones who remember the previous day. There are many SG-1 episodes that are very exciting and thrilling and many that have numerous funny moments, but until now this is the funniest episode I have seen.

If you like the funny moments with O'Neill and Teal'c this episode is a must-see.

Groundhog Day but funnier
banteros20 April 2011
Wow. I am a dedicated SG1 fan and I have recently started watching the DVD's over from Season 1 and can't believe I forgot this episode existed.

This has to be the funniest and most touching episode of SG1 I have ever seen. I don't want to add any spoilers so let me just say that as I watched it I was moved to tears of laughter throughout and even had to replay some scenes just to enjoy them all over again.

O'Neill and Teal'c (and everyone else for that matter) get caught in a time loop that only those two remember. As I was watching I was thinking to myself "Why them? why not the brains of the group?" As the episode unfolds you understand why and hilarity and touching moments ensue.

If you have seen the film "Groundhog Day" then you know the initial setup. This just touched me so much more than the movie. Ten stars.

The funniest episode in this series until now!
sorinboncutz25 May 2014
Well, i must say i enjoy more and more how this TV-show goes on. This is the first review I ever made and is all because of this cool episode. This episode is the funniest episode i've ever seen in this series until now, I laugh my ass off while seeing O'Neil and Teal'c getting annoyed and bored and starting to do all kind of crazy and very funny things along this episode. If you like the comedy of O'Neal and Teal'c i recommend this awesome episode for you. I rated this episode 10 out of 10 and is all because all those funny moments. :) I have to apologize for my bad English... but "For crying out loud" there is not much of a problem, i done my best. :)

Groundhog Day meets SG-1
chesterfox4014 November 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a big Stargate fan and I like every episode, but this is probably one of the best.

In this episode colonel O'Neill and Teal'c are trapped in a time loop and they have to relive the same day over and over.

O'Neill always brings humor into every episode but this episode is extremely funny.

Some of the funniest moments: Teal'c and O'Neill playing golf through the Stargate, O'Neill riding with a bike in the base, O'Neill kissing Carter in front of everybody.

I recommend everybody to see this particular episode. Even if you are not a big science fiction fan you will be able to laugh with this episode.

My rating: 10/10

P.S.: I hope that they make many more great seasons of SG-1.

The best Time-loop story in Sci-Fi history!
laclone18 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The rating only goes up to 10 stars, so add about a trillion more to that.

The whole "stuck-in-a-time-loop" thing has been done before, but never so well done, anywhere, as here. With Jack and Teal'c being the subjects of it makes it all the mo' better, as they are not the normal "brain's" of the group, but now have to figure out how to solve it. Plus the fact that these two interact with each other during these loops without the others knowing what's going on.

I especially love the parts where Jack tells Teal'c that he's going to sit this loop out, kisses Carter, rides a bike through the SGC halls, Teal'c shoves the door into the face of the guy that has been accidentally hitting him with it for several loops, and then smiles.

It is stated at the end that they had all been stuck in the 10 hour time-loop for well over 3 months, but to give you a perspective of just how long it actually was, consider the fact that Jack, of all people, had to learn Latin during these loops. That's a long time!

The Groundhog Day movie parallel is obvious, and even given credit by Jack mentioning it.

Touching moment in the end, when we discover that the "Bad Guy" that caused this has only been trying to create a loop for himself to forever re-live the last few days spent with his now deceased wife.

Ranking episodes of shows is futile, as the better ones all stand out in the end for their own merits, but this one ranks in the top of them all.

Side splitting

Warning: Spoilers
I've only recently discovered the StarGate SG-1 series and have been working through it. The line "Where have you been all my life" comes to mind.

Anyway, this is by far my favorite episode of all.

Groundhog day has always been a favorite of mine but this takes it to a new level. Ususally its one person that is trapped in time but with two, especially these two, its a whole other ball game.

My personal favorite scene is the series of cuts with each of them learning to juggle, the progressively getting better to ultimately doing it together with Dr Jackson looking on with a "Huh?" on his face.

Not to mention the interrupted golf swing through the star gate.

I plan to watch this episode again and again

Outstanding!

(EN) This episode could have been written by an "Farscape"-Author, because this time the fun is in priority. And it's not taken all too serious. But i – as an Farscape-fan, of course – really liked that. So far (i watched till this episode) this is the best episode for me, surpassing "Learning curve" and "The other side" which i rated each 8/10.

(DE) Diese Folge Könnte Von Einem Farscapeautor Stammen, Weil Diesmal Der Spaß Im Vordergrund Steht Und Nicht Alles so Ernst Genommen Wird. Das hat Mir Als Farscapefan Natürlich Sehr Gefallen. Bisher is Das die Beste Folge Für Mich, Und Zwar Noch Vor „Die Lektion Der Orbaner" Und „Die Andere Seite Der Medaille" Welche Ich Jeweils Ne 8er-Bewertung Verpasste. (Großschreibung Wegen Fremdsprachenblockierung Von IMDb! TAKE THAT BITCHES!)

The same old story all over again. And again. And again...
GusF30 March 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This is by a very long way the best episode of "SG-1" ever. It was hilarious, brilliant, exciting, interesting and *extremely* well written. It is a unmitigated classic and there is no, nor can they ever be, a better episode.

It was an inspired choice to make Jack and Teal'c the only people, besides Malakai, who were aware of the fact that they were stuck in a time loop. Even though they are both supposed to be very intelligent people, they are the braun of the operation while Daniel and Sam are the brains. The two of them probably would've gone nuts as well after things started to get a tad repetitive but it would have most likely been in a much more controlled (and therefore far less funny) way.

The dialogue was sharp and hilarious. I love it when Jack says, "We've done this!" at the beginning of the second loop in the briefing room and then Daniel says, "We do this everyday," referring to briefings. The three "bad example" jokes are great too. All the commissary, briefing room and infirmary scenes are extremely funny as well. The sequence in Daniel's lab and the whole montage sequence are my favourites in the episode especially the golf through the Stargate and the kiss parts.

I also liked that Malakai was doing all this because he wanted to be reunited with his dead wife. After so many purely evil villains who do what they do to increase their own power and kill their enemies, it's a breath of fresh hair to have a "villain" who is doing something for, although selfish, good-natured and well-intentioned reasons. It was nice to have a strong, emotional ending to an episode that was, essentially, just a chance to have some fun. Robin Mossley was brilliant as Malakai. He had great chemistry with RDA, probably because he was in eight episodes of "MacGyver" (including one with Don S. Davis).

One of the best episodes of the series
courtneyjjjjjjjj28 June 2021
After 21 years and innumerable re-watches this episode always brings me immense joy to watch.

It's the best example of SG1's unique brand of humour. It's Anderson getting to play for 40 mins and it's fantastic.

Of course the time loop trope is a staple in episodic television (particularly sci-fi). But in my opinion this is by far the best example of it.

My favorite episode, by far
search53-117 June 2016
I believe that every once in a while even the most serious TV series needs to take time out to explore aspects of the characters that have nothing to do with any of the running plot lines. This, in a nutshell, is what this episode is about - and has been accomplished with a great deal of humor.

I highly recommend this episode, but don't expect to learn anything about the Goa'ulds, Tokra, Tollan, Replicators - or even technology for that matter. It's a fun episode.

The premise is helped by the fact that the experience was shared by two main characters. If it had been just one, they might never have accepted the unlikely situation as fact.

Hilarious fan favourite
joehfleming28 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This is a episode that really stands out from the rest in terms of humour value, and is one of my favourites. It takes the Groundhog day time-loop concept, and really runs with it.

The real fun is that the usual problem-solvers Carter and Jackson are mostly left out, and it's up to O'Neill and Teal'c to solve it, and we get to watch them going increasingly crazy as they struggle with both the problem, and their interactions with the other characters, loop after loop.

Some of the funniest moments of the whole series come from a montage sequence where O'Neill and Teal'c realise they can do whatever they want, consequence-free,

A Great Tribute to Films Featuring Time Loops
claudio_carvalho22 June 2016
The SG-1 is investigating a solar storm in a planet with the alien archaeologist Malikai. Out of the blue, a beam hits Jack, Teal'c and Malikai that are close to an altar. Then Jack finds himself having breakfast with Sam and Daniel in the SGC.During the briefing of the SG-1 and General Hammond, Jack and Teal'c know what Sam is going to explain and the next activities in the SGC. Soon the event repeats over and over and Jack and Teal'c help Daniel to translate the writings in the altar memorizing the translation. What is the mystery of the altar?

"Window of Opportunity" is a great tribute to "Groundhog Day", "12:01" and other films featuring time loops. The story and the screenplay are delightful and the funniest moment is when Jack O'Neal learns that he can do whatever he wants since people will forget on the next day. Did he only kissed Samantha? My vote is nine.

A perfect blend of Sci-Fi, comedy and drama.
joshuawarrenmedia27 December 2021
If you're a Star Trek fan you might experience some déjà vu yourself with this episode, BUT where SG-1 surpasses the former time-loop plot of Star Trek TNG's "Cause and Effect" (though I love both) is by altering one little plot point that changes everything; that being that Jack O'Neill and Teal'c are aware of the day repeating itself. This simple but effective change takes an interesting, but kind of dry concept, and manages to make it both funny and frustrating as we get to experience it along with two of the characters.

"Window of Opportunity" is also one of those rare TV episodes where not a single line is wasted and not one shot is arbitrary. Joseph Mallozzi & Paul Mullie delivered a tight script that manages to be both complex and coherent at the same time, while director Peter DeLuise once again manages to tickle your funny bone while simultaneously tug at your heartstrings. And although I'm personally not a huge fan of Richard Dean Anderson's more comedic take on O'Neill (something he started doing after the first couple of seasons and really committed to later in the series) it works wonderfully here.

It is for a good reason that this is considered one of the best episodes of the series. TV series episodes rarely come together this flawlessly.

All that is good in a Stargate
agogoodman4 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode warrants its 9.5 rating. I give it a 10.

Humor, science, character development are all perfected in this episode

SPOILER:

From some who has lost a Son, who was very dear to me, this episode made me mourn his loss and will help me get beyond some of my grief.

If you have ever lost someone close to you, consider watching this episode.

For a serialized TV show....that is very rare.

Jack kisses Sam on Groundhog Day
DragonFireBreather26 March 2023
This is definitely one of Stargates best episode hands down! It's funny and the best part is we get to see Jack kiss Sam, oooh lalaa.

The episode starts when the SG-1 team gets caught up in a time loop. But it only affects Jack and Tealc. As each loop starts over we always see Jack eating his fruit loops which is pretty fantastic. Every day is pretty funny but it's when Daniel tells Jack that it must be nice to relive every day knowing that there are no consequences at the start of the next day. A light bulb pops up over Jacks head as he realizes he can now do whatever he wants. One of these desires... kissing Sam! For me it's the highlight of the episode. I love these two together and their chemistry has always been off the charts since day 1. A nice treat to give the fans what they fantasize about. I know I'm not alone here.

A 10+ episode, I can watch this all day long and never tire of it.

My favorite so far
jdntdnfk9 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Never watched any sci-fi, but got hooked on SG-1. So far, this is my favorite episode...particularly the part when Jack realizes the silver lining of having zero consequences for his behavior in 1 loop at the beginning of the next one. Particularly after the previous episode when Jack and Carter admit to having feelings for each other, at least Jack gets to make some special memories :-)

Also had to laugh at the juggling part. Read that RDA did that for a living once and taught others how to juggle too. Helpful skill to have and clearly Teal'c was a good student.

And in the end, each loop was different enough to keep us viewers entertained.
