Good Special Effects
claudio_carvalho1 June 2015
Jack, Sam, Daniel and Teal'c travel to PX3-989 and they find inside a facility with machinery. Out of the blue, they are scanned by a light and faint. When they awake, they meet eleven-thousand year-old Harlan, the only survivor of a race that lived in the underground of the planet destroyed by radiation. They return to SGC and during the medical examination, Dr. Janet Fraiser realizes that they are androids. Further, their energy sources are running out and they must return to the planet to retrieve their human bodies.

"Tin Man" is an episode with funny situations and good special effects. The confrontation between Jack and the Android O'Neill is hilarious. My vote is seven.

Good episode, weird ending

Warning: Spoilers
So SG-1 end up on a planet with a higher level of technology then earth itself. So why does the episode end with the real team going back to earth and the gate supposedly to be buried? There is no danger. The systems are falling apart due to a lack of hands to repair the systems. There are a number of things I find weird about this scenario. 1) Why not just make multiple synthetic bodies of the same person to do the maintenance? If they are just copies of the mind, I don't see a reason why this couldn't be done seeing that the facility was originally build to power orders of magnitude more survivors. 2) If for some obscure reason multiple copies is not possible, then why doesn't earth make a deal to supply volunteers to be copied in exchange for studying the more advanced technology? Or even make it a second base of operation? Would it really be so hard to equip the gate with an iris to protect the facility ? (Which has been accessible to the Goa'uld for many thousands of years anyway and apparently hasn't been visited by them in all that time)

Sad episode.

Sad episode.

I had believed they were real ones just how they had believed. They did not know they were just copies.

So much pain for them. They have conscious of humans but they have to live like robots forever.

I dont understand why he did not replicate himself instead of them. Maybe he cant do that.

Christopher Judge not so serious

Warning: Spoilers
Did anyone else notice Christopher Judge giggling behind synthetic O'neill at around 42:30? Just thought that was funny, since he pays an insanely serious character. Made me laugh. Wanted to share that.

some nice effects while cutting the drone arm
trashgang17 April 2013
This episode reminded me a lot of The Six Million Dollar Man (1973). Just in the fact that the SG-1 team is cloned as robots. To show that we see an excellent shot of Jack's arm being cut by himself so the robot mechanism is shown. Even his blood is replaced by some milk look-a-like fluid inside his body.

When arriving on planet OX3-989 SG-1 are rendered unconscious. When they awake they noticed that their clothes are different, they agree to return to earth after meeting the only person alive on the planet, Harlan (Jay Brazeau). Once back on their base and under research by Dr. Janet Fraiser (Teryl Rothery) she wants to take blood of Colonel Jack, and we all know what is happening. Not only that, they passes out and have to return to OX3-989 to reload. But Harlan can't let them go back to earth.

Again a rather simple episode but with the effects of the arm it worked out fine again. Teal'c isn't much to see here because as Harlan says, he's different. Some funny situations here and there when the clones do meet the original ones. The episode is over before you know it.

Good episode but the ending makes no sense

Warning: Spoilers
I liked the episode and enjoyed how it looked. That being said, why the hell did they bury the stargate? They stumbled on a goldmine and what they've been looking for, technology to battle the Goa'uld, and they decide to destroy the connection with it? They could've used this technology to make an army of super soldiers and with the android's help, probably weapons too. All they needed to do was to provide him with a little company and some help repairing his base. They really needed to make a plot point on why they needed to bury the stargate after they left.

Hey, that's me?

Weird storyline with a lackluster resolution and ending. Though decent effects, plot was anticlimactic and most of the time spent on trivial conversations.
