The Jaffa Training
claudio_carvalho15 January 2016
The SG-1 arrives in a planet and they see a SG team being attacked by a Jaffa army. Jack is unable to contact them but he decides to help the team; however they are shot by the SG soldiers. They wake up in a tent and learn that they have been shot by nonlethal weapons. They are taken to the SG leader Captain Kyle Rogers and soon Teal'c recognized that both armies are being trained by Apophis to infiltrate Earth. Teal'c convinces the soldiers that they were sent to the location to test them. When they try to convince the soldiers that Apophis is dead, they do not believe since he is a God. Meanwhile Sam and Daniel tries to find their real weapons. They restart the game and Kyle is wounded by a real weapon, starting a battle with real weapons. Will the Sg-1 be able to stop the slaughter?

"Rules of Engagement" is another entertaining show of "Stargate SG-1". The story is full of action and the fate of SG-11 is disclosed. Sam has a scar on her face in a few scenes that is not explained. What might have happened? My vote is seven.

Training Day

An interesting concept but almost too swift and easy of a resolution. Acting was good from the whole cast and the action well coordinated. Effects worked.

A interesting episode that explores more of the Goa'uld slavery
Millionsable6 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The episode begins once again in a Forrest like setting (the third episode in a row to do so) where the sg1 team come across a group under attack and a camp that is not quite what it seems.

The continuity of this episode was interesting, I liked when the clip of Apophis's last moments being shown and more of Teal'cs knowledge of the Jaffa is used to the teams advantage. The episode has some good laughs and shows some more Goa'uld technology.

The episodes setting in the Forrest was not very exciting and by now the whole 'teraformed Forrest world' is getting a bit cheap. The group do visit the SGC and it was interesting to see the Goa'uld slave react to Apothis's death and for his denial to change into fear for him and his people.

The acting of the episode was great, the Goa'uld slaves were very believable and ignorant of their enslavement

Overall it is not a great season 3 episode but an improvement of the last episode "demons".

Slow start to a very different Jack O'Neill at climax
brdavid-429-962707 April 2023
This is the episode that will forever get you to look at Jack O'Neill in a different light. Unfortunately it took the series a rather long time to get to this point.

In Children of Light we get a look into Jack O'Neill's leadership on the battlefield when they emerge on Chulak. Afterwards it feels as if Jack's rank of Colonel isn't highly shown, illustrated, or even portrayed. Granted they do a fair job, but now we finally get to see the Colonel behind that rank and it comes at the climax of this episode.

Never have I thought Jack to be more of a marine than an airman, which is basically what this episode showcases. Witnessing the Colonel finally emerge as the team is going into a combat situation is such a wonderful breath of fresh air.

Rules of Engagement is a rather "odd" episode that seems to take a rather naïve approach to the situation at hand, you have a battalion of troops training for a day of battle and all I really see are "kids". Granted they are supposed to be immature, but I think they over did their immaturity in order to force the idea they believe SG1 is from Apophis. Everything they say and do would seem to go against it. Everything about this episode is one long walking plot hole, but then it changes in Act 3 and yet again, like many SG1 episodes, Act 3 is another successful landing of what seems to be a rather unstable episode. SG1 has a long track record of this.

Rules of Engagement is a mediocre episode that ends well.

SGC Warcrimes?
zakmatt200222 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it a war crime to video record dying enemy combatants and then to display them?

Overall a decent episode though. Cool plot and twists.

O'Neil Should Shut Up
pioneer6411 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
O'Neil really needs to shut up and let other members of his team lead the way when appropriate. This time, he should have let Teal'c take command.
