The Breeding Process of the Asgard Race
claudio_carvalho11 February 2017
When Thor is captured by Osiris, the SG-1 teams up with the scientist Heimdall to plan how to rescue Thor from the Goa'uld. While Osiris is waiting for her master Anubis in her spaceship, Jack and Teal'c are transported to the place and guided Sam from the laboratory. Heimdall is researching a means to reverse the degradation process in his race caused by successive cloning, studying the preserved corpse of an original Asgard. Meanwhile Anubis comes and uses a device of unknown technology to connect Thor's brain to the computer. Will Jack and Teal 'c be capable of saving Thor?

"Revelations" is a great episode of "Stargate SG-1" that shows the breeding process, actually cloning, of the Asgard race. Anubis is using advanced non-Goa'uld technology and how he achieved it. The special effects are top-notch in this show. My vote is eight.

Good, just not "finale" good.

Warning: Spoilers
This is a solid episode with some action, lots of bizarre events and technologies, and food for thought.

First of all, it is interesting to watch the remaining members of SG1 deal with their loss. While Jack and Teal'c are acting tough and warrior-like, Carter is having a hard time coping (but then she's always the most affected whenever someone disappears.) As a result, maybe, I thought that the "team spirit" was a bit lacking here -which in a way feels right, as it emphasizes how much part of it Daniel was.

Apart from that, both story lines are interesting. The discovery we make about the Asgaard is rather capital if you consider that in a way they are "us" in a few million years (and the issue of their genetic dead end will come up later). Even more interesting is what happens with Thor; up until now, the Asgaard had been regarded as the most powerful race in the universe, and Earth's greatest defense against the Goa'uld. Having them suddenly become vulnerable and having their technological advances become available to Anubis (who makes his first appearance as Public Enemy #1) is a terrible blow for Earth, and announces hard times to come.

Despite the quality of this episode, however, I have to say that this episode simply does not pack enough punch for a finale. Daniel's passing was highly emotional, but finishing a season on its aftermath, mixed with several ominous but so far, not completely dramatic revelations, leaves me a bit unsatisfied, and less eager than I usually am to watch next season's premiere.

No time to grieve

Thank you Major Carter for being my voice after the loss of Daniel. I wouldn't watch the rest of the show if someone hadn't protested about moving on so quickly. But the Goa'ulds have caught up to the Asgards, and the the rest of SG-1 have a new problem on their hands. The "show" must go on.

Goofy Episode

Warning: Spoilers
Many are weepy because Daniel Jackson disappeared in a white light/died/whatever. However, the actor (Michael Shanks) portraying Daniel was bith tired of the same role and had issues with how much money he was not being paid. As such, he played a role or 2 in other shows/films and took time off. As far as the episode, knowing this ruins whatever one thinks may be taking place. It is interesting from the staendpoint of the new vulnerability of the Asguard beings. Therefore, worth a watch. Please know all above is true.

Big plot hole

If the planet SG1 goes to has such a deadly atmosphere, why is it a protected planet of the Asgard? They have a secret lab there too? Hmmm?

To save a god

In my opinion this shouldnt have been the season ender, the previous episode was much more compelling and dramatic and would have served better as the finale. This felt more like filler.
