Poor Harrid and Sallis
claudio_carvalho1 June 2019
Daniel and Vala are taken by a Prior of the Ori to meet The Doci in the bodies of Harrid and Sallis. Daniel challenges Doci and then they are returned to the village as bait to catch unbelievers. Meanwhile Landry has a meeting with the new Jaffa leader Gerak and they are surprised by another Prior of the Ori that promotes his god.

"Origin" is the conclusion of the three first episode of the Ninth Season of Stargate SG-1. The plot is reasonable and the viewer has to get used to new characters in the series. In the end, the Ancient communication system led Harrid and Sallis to death and exposed the humans to another powerful enemy. My vote is eight.

Title (Brazil): "Origin"

Note: On 16 November 2020, I saw this episode again.

Part 3
Calicodreamin9 April 2022
Really this is a part three. Well developed storyline and sort of conclusion to the immediate problem. Sets up the series arcing storyline even though the new baddies are super weird looking.

The Spread of a Militant Religion
XweAponX25 August 2015
It's like a disease, which in fact SG-1 compares to in a later 9th season episode.

Daniel and Vala's minds are trapped in the bodies of two heretics in the Ori Galaxy, while at the same time the religion of "Origin" begins infecting the Milky Way.

Somehow the Ori can send Priors all the way from their galaxy to ours. This is never explained, but it is still frightening.

The Jaffa have finally freed themselves from thousands of years of oppression by The Goa'Uld, only to have the leader of the Free Jaffa Nation (Lou Gossett, Jr.) fall under the spell of yet another set of False Gods.

It's like jumping from one boiling pot to another, SG-1 can't seem to get a break. So settle back and watch how they dig themselves out of this new hole, because this is just the beginning. And if you don't want to settle back, you don't have to watch the show... Or make inane comments. Honestly, the only 2 concepts people should be thinking about are "Did I enjoy this" and "Will I keep watching it". I would not waste my time commenting on episodes I hated.

Season 9 episode 1-3 boring
MyEinsamkeit5 February 2018
Wow, i almost fell asleep watching all 3 episodes. Is this stargate SG1 anymore? sure doesn't seem like it. There's a new commander, he's alright. Vala is sexy, and funny. The Jaffa story is boring. Tea'c as usually stands around and doesn't say too much. Which worked in season 1-7, but after since season 8 and 9, he talks less and less. In fact i don't even know why they have him appearing in episode 1-3 , you hardly saw him.

I just started watching season 9 today, i sure hope it gets better. Because season 8 was overall terrible and only had maybe 6 episodes that was decent. Season 9 so far is boring, and pointless. Get back to exploring worlds with having decent story lines.

Pure Pablum: It's You Or I
Easygoer107 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Yes, that's a pun. The "Or I" wear white eye-contacts (painful, too) and woeful antagonists compared to the "Wraith" on Stargate Atlantis. This only gets worse. Trust me, this show is a waste of your time. Let it go, and switch to SGA.

So Settle Back?
fcabanski29 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Nah, this isn't a 10 star episode.

"So settle back" is a tired cliché.

We get that false gods are bad and religions can go astray.

This episode is a decent into to the Ori, Priors: the new major threat. It also presents the possibility, as mentioned by Daniel, that a real god's message could be corrupted by man. They even mention it with Col. Mitchell's memory of his bible thumping grandmother. Gen. Landry then brings up his religious grandmother, but he brings her up in a positive light.

Not much happens in this episode other than Priors and the Ori explaining themselves and detailing their threat to Earth and the Milky Way. Col. Mitchell and Teal'c save the day in the nick of time: rescuing Daniel and Vala while sending two people to their deaths by fire.

Louis Gossett Jaffa makes for an interesting character. But he'd be a better villain than a side story.
