Tense Episode
claudio_carvalho6 July 2015
While visiting a desolated planet similar to the moon, Jack, Daniel, Samantha and Teal'c find a spherical object and Jack decides to bring it with them to study. Out of the blue, the artifact warms up and Jack and Teal'c bring it to the Stargate to deliver it back to the planet. However the orb releases spikes to hold it in the Stagate Command and Jack is pierced by one spike and is hold against the concrete wall. He is infected by a virus that soon invades the computers. General Hammond seals the base and cut-down to self-destruction. However Samantha discovers that the orb feeds of energy and will grow with the blast. But the self-destruction process cannot be stopped since the computers are infected with the alien virus.

"Message in a Bottle" is a tense episode, with an apparently unsolved situation. Unfortunately the way it is resolved in unconvincing. My vote is eight.

great effects and suspenseful episode

Warning: Spoilers
While on a mission on a planet that looks like the moon SG-1 come across some an orb. Seeing no danger in it they take it back to earth to examen the orb. Daniel has to know what is written on the orb but Jack never wanted to observe the orb. But suddenly the orb starts to heaten up and even starts to react. Spikes appear and longer spikes go through the wall but also through Jack. He got infected by some kind of virus. But the virus even can go through concrete and infects the computers. The base in the mountain is shut down and is in a countdown to self destruction.

This is again a great episode with some nice effects and the orb even reminded me of the sphere from Phantasm (1979). Richard Dean Anderson (Jack) is giving a great performance here. A very strong episode with great effects for the time being.

Neon moon

A space ball goes supernova and holds the base hostage, in this well made yet a little bit strange episode. High production value with authentic effects and cgi. The storyline had an interesting resolution.
