Wonderful piece(s) of acting

Warning: Spoilers
A good episode, whose major quality and major flaw both are that it completely rests upon Michael Shanks's shoulders. Don't get me wrong: he is absolutely amazing. Granted, we've already seen him play several characters at the same time (Ma'chello, for one) but the episode really ups the ante by having him play *half a dozen* characters, almost at the same time. However, the episode focuses on this feat so much that the rest of the team are left aside for most of it.

Still, the core idea is good, and puts a twist on a rather familiar sci-fi plot (the whole population of a dying world is put in stasis and evacuated aboard spaceships). I really appreciate how the "lifeboat" in the title can be interpreted several ways. (Fyi, the French title is "Phantom ship", which is quite good as well). Once again, the plot is not revealed in a straightforward manner, which leaves some opportunity for mystery and emotion.

In a way, this is too good a plot for a mere 40-minute episode, as the resolution occurs much too fat to my taste. I wish we could have spent more time with Pharrin, who turns out to be a real hero in his own way, and whose final fate remains very unclear.

Intriguing Episode
claudio_carvalho11 December 2017
The SG-1 heads to planet to investigate a crashed starship and finds passengers and crew in cryogenic sleep in pods. Out of the blue, there is a mysterious blast and they faint. When Teal'c awakes, he finds Jack and Sam fainted and Daniel scared. He asks for help to the SGC and soon Dr. Fraiser learns that Daniel is holding several alien consciousnesses in his mind. What has happened to him?

"Lifeboat" is another great episode of "Stargate SG-1" without Goaul'd. The story is intriguing with the multiple personalities inside Daniel and well resolved in the end. My vote is nine.

Shanks for the win!

Warning: Spoilers
You don't have to like the episode or even the show to enjoy watching Shanks play a dozen or so characters. He often shifts back and forth. It's a great testoment to his acting. I love this episode!

Great acting

Shanks is a demonstration of why people loved Daniel Jackson. Excellent acting, as always. The episode is not only about sci-fi. It has moral and philosophical statements that touch the viewer. Shanks demonstrates how it would be painful and scary to be in such a place as he is in this episode. The acting is incredible. The episode reminds me of the episode Legacy when Daniel Jackson seems to have a similar situation but totally different. Stargate was an incredible show. I can confirm that Stargate SG1 is one of the best sci-fi series out there. It was a wonderful time on TV. I hope the show can come back one day. But the truth is we will never have a cast with so much chemistry as these actors. It was "indeed" a good time.

What happens to them?!

Warning: Spoilers
This is a great episode for Michael Shanks to shine. His scenes as the little boy gets me in the Feels. However, what in the universe happens to the rest of them? Did they all survive the wakening? Did the "souls" of the people in Jackson and the officer get put back into bodies? Where did they go? Did they figure out which planet they had intended to settle? I need a part two.

Well Shanks gets a gold star for acting in this episode he really pulled it out of the bag. The concept was interesting though definitely on the "out there" side of things.

Warning: Spoilers
Having been binging Stargate for the better part of three months now, this was the first time I had to pause and reflect on the incredible acting by Michael Shanks. The nine stars here merely reflect his performance, and the performances of the other two primary characters in this episode, Dr. Fraiser and Pharrin. The missing star? That's due to a common occurrence in an episode of Stargate, the sudden and abrupt ending. Had this episode been split into two parts it could have been something spectacular for the performances alone, despite having a plot that isn't entirely unheard of. And to think I was unsure about my feelings for Daniel's sudden return to SG1, having been so INCREDIBLY under utilized in the earlier seasons.

Like a bad junior high play
jcollins-458-4153871 December 2021
This is an awful episode with horrible dialog and bad acting. It's as if the writers were on strike and the producer couldn't find any scabs to replace them. Instead, the catering crew took a stab at writing the script while the actor playing Daniel drank up the courage to act it out.
