Naiveness
claudio_carvalho27 August 2018
The SGC is contacted by Carter´s replicator created by Fifth and she discloses that Fifth is coming to invade Earth. She also requests to be destroyed by the disruptor and explains that Fifth has found a means to neutralize its effect. Sam proposes a meeting at Alpha base with the replicator and Teal´c. Sam is convinced that the replicator wants to help her to improve the weapon to destroy Fifth and they work together is a new software. Soon Sam learns the real agenda of the replicator.

"Gemini" is a good episode of "Stargate SG-1" despite Sam´s naiveness. It is hard to believe that the experienced member of the SGC delivers the secret of the only means of defending Earth from the replicators to an enemy expecting support. My vote is eight.

Title (Brazil): "Gemini"

Betrayal All Around. On the house.
owlaurence26 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This episode picks up the unfinished business with the Replicators, in particular with Fifth and his disturbing fixation on Carter. Fifth is back with a vengeance, and the enemy that almost wiped out the Asgaard is about to land on Earth. Talk about high stakes. Fortunately, the SGC benefits from the unexpected -and slightly suspicious- help of Fifth's last creation, a Carter lookalike. Obviously, the SGC is quite divided as to whether or not RepliCarter is to be trusted. Is she really as similar to Sam as she seems to be? (And if she is not, does it mean that Sam has been hiding her true feelings all along?)

As the episode goes on, confusion starts to spread. RepliCarter does seem to have a hidden agenda, but it is far from what we expect. Really, you've got to admire her divide-and-conquer strategy, leading Earth to actually participate in their own doom. The final twist is quite brilliant, especially in terms of how Sam interprets it.

This is not a funny episode. It is fascinating, however, because once again the Replicators' arc, which has been going on for years, veers off in an unexpected direction while remaining coherent with what happened in the past. The Replicators have always been dangerous, but it was SG1 who made them lethal by teaching them human emotions, and who will soon have to deal with the consequences.

Well I got a good laugh out of dubbing the new character "Replicarter" that's just awesome. Episode storyline was unique and I honestly didn't see that twist coming.

Stupid, Stupid, Stupid...
routier6 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Really dumb and unconvincing.

From the first decision the SGC made when Replicator Carter contacted them, I was muttering "stupid...stupid..". Their gullibility was breathtaking.

They let Replicator Carter, an enemy and an unknown quantity, have access to:

* The Alpha Site - a supposedly top secret location where the SGC and Earth leaders can evacuate to if Earth is invaded. * Sam's brain (how could she allow that, let alone suggest it?) * The SGC's computers * The Disruptor - the *only* weapon effective against the Replicators, the biggest threat this this & other galaxies

The Replicators now have up to date info from Sam's brain, God knows how much info from the SGC's computers, and the complete specs of the Disruptor, as well as a complete countermeasure. Now that they know exactly how it works, no amount of modification (even if any was possible) will be effective.

And at the end of the episode, were there any recriminations? No. They were more concerned that Sam *didn't feel bad* about being incredibly gullible & dooming all life in the Universe.

If Sam were Japanese, she should have committed seppuku.

I've seen more logical episodes of Torchwood, and that's saying something.

Wow the writers really think the viewers are thick
zidangus21 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Well I think stargate sg1 is an all around sound TV show, not as good as the new battle star gallactica but still good. The reason I say that it is not up there with BSG is because of episodes like this, and I have to say more and more of these type of episodes occur as the seasons progress and I dare say the story lines start to get stretched.

OK so whats wrong with episodes like this ? Well where do I start ! How about the story line defies logic even sci-fi logic. I find it hard to believe that anyone with half a brain cell would follow the actions that Sam Carter and the rest of the SG command followed in this episode. As a viewer for me to take a show seriously and become engrossed in it, I really have to believe that the characters would act as if in a real life situation. This episode clearly falls way short on this count.

Some of the absurd decisions taken by sg command include, taking one of your worst enemies to the alpha site, a site that I presume cost a fortune to build and is meant to be a safe place to go if earth is ever taken over. Then willingly letting your worst enemy gain access to your mind, supposedly one the brightest minds in the world or the writers would have you believe they are anyway. Then just to clinch the Oscar for stupidest TV episode ever, they give the replicator the full design plans and workings of the only weapon that can kill the replicators.

Seriously for such poor decision making Sam Carter as well as O'Neil would be sent to a doctor to test if they had overdosed on stupid pills before sending them packing to Alaska to see out the remainder of their military career.

But that didn't happen, instead Sam got an arm around her shoulder and told it wasn't her fault.

As I have said after season 3 there seems to be about 4 or 5 episodes in each season that are just stupid and insults the viewers intelligence. We know it's just a TV show but good TV shows need good scripts that the viewer can believe just a little bit in.

RepliCARTER?
sloopnp7 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I despise this episode. How could they make Carter so gullible? This isn't the first time she's allowed outside enemies to access SGC systems, but a REPLICATOR? Did they all just forget what those things live to do? I wish Amanda Tapping told the writers that she refused to act that dopey. I kept waiting for Carter to turn the tables on the enemy, but she stayed dopey the whole episode, and yes....it was her fault.

Lazy lazy lazy writing....
tert727 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Just a lazily written episode. If they wanted the replicators to make a comeback, they should of come up with a little better way than to make sg1 look like fools. It's not the first time Carter make an idiot mistake, but it's not at all in Jack's character to let something like this happen. He trusts nothing. And the end, oh Sam, as long as you don't feel bad, that's all that matters.... You just let the biggest threat known at the time to be able to defend against the ONLY weapon known to work on them. Just a lazy lazy episode by the writers. Thanks for lowering sg1 in the eyes of all the fans. This is an episode I skip over everytime when I re-watch the series.

SGC is full of dumb people
ghent218713 June 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I have a real problem with this episode along with several others up to this point. I had never followed the SG-1 or any other of the Stargate series until recently when I started watching them on Netflix. I started falling in love with the series, but over the last few seasons I've grown tired of the foolishness and gullible actions on the SGC.

I never believed for one second that the replicator version of Carter was coming to help Earth out and I'm only a common factory worker. Apparently me and some of my cohorts should be in charge of the SGC because the Phd's and military officers are not making the most sound judgement calls. I know it's only a TV show, but come on already.

There's much more I could say about the series, but I'l just shut up now.

Mediocre
Easygoer106 August 2020
Many episodes on season 8 begin with a voiceover: "Previously on Stargate SG1". The writers ate split doing 2 shows. SG1 & SGA. Consequently, they have run out of ideas. This episode is by no means unique. Not by a long shot. Twins are at the core of the plots of hundreds of films & TV shows. This is no exception. SG1 makes many errors & I find this tiring.

Giving This Only a Five? Indeed.
fcabanski21 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The episode is a good return to central story action. The Replicators are back. They're up to something. We, the audience, see they're up to something, but Sam and SG-1 don't see it.

That makes for drama. That makes for tension. But the SGC folks are a little too gullible. Later we find out the Replicator Sam thinks just like Sam. RS can anticipate real Sam's thoughts and plans. OK, so why can't real Sam do a better job of anticipating RS's thoughts and plans? If the writers could have worked out a more clever ruse, one that would be believable in fooling Sam and the gang, this episode would be 9 or 10 stars.

If you get past SGC's stupidity, this one isn't bad.

And I told my husband that after what she did to fifth it would come back to bite her in the butt!!! It's like SG-1 doesn't think they just do things not caring of the consequences!!

What is worse that Samantha Carter?
Chandelier-4957927 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Having 2 Samantha Carters in a single episode. I really hate his character but having another one was just 2 much for me.
