Kinsey's Coup
claudio_carvalho31 May 2017
General Hammond, Major Paul Davis and Colonel Chekov have a meeting in the Pentagon with Kinsey and the ambassadors of the France, United Kingdom and China to disclose the secret of the Stargate as requested by Kinsey. They warn the danger of the Goa'uld and report the successful missions of the SG-1. But the true intention of Kinsey is to takeover the Stargate Program to transfer to the notorious NID. But General Hammond has an ace in the hole.

"Disclosure" could have been an interesting episode in the first season of "Stargate SG-1" since it would explain why the SGC takes decisions and speaks as representative of planet Earth. But now, after six seasons, it is a waste of time and a resume of several episodes. My vote is six.

Title (Brazil): "Disclosure"

Clip episode, however...

Just the ending itself makes up for the sometimes tedious nature of a review episode. I also enjoyed the idea of the disclosure, and enjoyed seeing the other nations representatives reactions. 7/10 for me.

Painful

Warning: Spoilers
Painfull, clip-heavy, budget saving, lazy writing episode saved only Thor's appearance and Hammond's end game. While this was a necessary next- step in sharing knowledge of the Stargate program with other nations, the execution was terrible for the most part.

Another Clip Episode
ignisgeodacius8 November 2020
As always clip show episodes in a series are basically just filler to pad out a full season. I recommend watching the first bit until the rehashing begins, then just skip ahead to around the last 10 minutes of the episode to see how it bridges in with the main plotline. Unless you skipped most of the previous couple of seasons I wouldn't recommend wasting your time with the 30 minutes in between.

a clip episode but still enjoyable

So yea this is a clip episode but so much happens in this shows that i personally appreciate an occasional reminder and catch up. Also kind of good to get an idea of the different governments the show will be dealing with and who's in charge. And weirdly enough, this episode made me tear up a bit. So i enjoy it.

Clip Show
fcabanski10 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is a clip show: a mega budget saver. Maybe it was watchable when the show aired weekly, but for folks watching on DVD or online, episode after episode, it isn't really useful to watch. You'll have just seen all these clips in their episodes.

The episode does contain a hilarious line from the Chinese representative. He says China doesn't like to keep secrets from its people, so they'll have to release info about the Stargate program.

BTW, any reasonable person reviewing all the things the Stargate program has accomplished would wonder why they have any other teams beside SG-1. Nobody else does anything important enough to mention to the British, Chinese, and French reps.

The Best Clip Show Ever
spotter-230 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Clip shows, are the bane of fans. They are cheap way to do an episode without having most of the cast there. This episode, Disclosure, is the exception. The plot is the threat of Anubis is great that General Hammond has to reveal the Stargate program to the British, Chinese, and French governments. The Russians already know. As General Hammond explains the Stargate program. The audience sees clips of episodes from the series pilot onward. Midway through the briefing, Senator Kinsey, played by Ronnie Cox, arrives to provide his negative spin on it. Hammond has a hold card, which he plays with relish.

This episode advances the story arc for the series. This is the seed story for the rationale of non-American characters from Earth in the Stargate franchise. T]

Bored now
owlaurence11 June 2010
Okay, so this is what I call a freebee episode: one with no action, only a series of flashbacks from past episodes. Every series has one or two. Remember "Politics"(season 1)? I was kinda hoping it would be the only one, but there you are. And at least "Politics" did affect the overall situation for at least one episode.

So, as the title implies, this episode is mainly a big reminiscence of all the disasters that SGC (and mostly SG-1) have triggered / avoided/ covered up over the past 6 years. Flashbacks are all you will see of SG-1, by the way (and Jonas is conspicuously absent from them all). Add to that a 30s twist that solves everything without anybody even having to leave their seats... and some declarations that, politically speaking, will really tax your suspension of disbelief. (Who bribed the Russian commander?)

This episode's only saving grace is its first few minutes, in which we see the incredulous ambassadors frantically trying to catch up on 6 years of intergalactic warfare. Oh, and cheers for including MY country there. And for not giving ze ambassador ze ridiculous accent zat French characters so often seem afflicted with. (Edit: I spoke too fast, he will definitely get it next time. Sigh.)

A clip show
edpeace5524 March 2021
Maybe the worst show of the entire series. It is a clip show and really doesn't add anything new. The last few minutes are interesting but don't really add much. You can miss this episode entirely and not miss anything original

A great episode

I fully understand why some people dislike this episode but I enjoyed it a lot as a background thing while I was working. Especially the ending was very satisfying and it was a nice recap of major event that happened in the show up to this point.

Lazy Writing
BobRed9 August 2022
The fundamental story was important for the progress of the overall series storyline. However, it tells it with 75% being nothing but series highlights to-date. Feels like the writers had plans for the weekend and wanted to get an early start.

Bureaucrats
Calicodreamin17 March 2022
While this episode has seemingly far reaching implications for the stargate programs, it's got no substance. All bureaucratic bickering and an excuse to use retrospectives.
