Out of Control
claudio_carvalho1 April 2006
After stealing an experimental flower from Dr. Steven Hamilton (Joe Morton), the employee of the Luthor Corp. James Beales (Bill Mondy) has a truck accident on the road and is rescued by Jonathan Kent. However, the flower releases its pollen on Jonathan's faces, and he unleashes his innermost repressed desires first, and enters in coma later. Then, Lana Lang and Pete Ross are also affected by the Nicodemus flower in the same way. Lex Luthor hides from Clark Kent that Dr. Steven Hamilton is working for him, but they find the cure in an old book.

"Nicodemus" is another great episode of this magnificent series. The dramatic story shows a surprisingly sexy Kristin Kreuk seducing Clark Kent, and I believe she seduced all the male viewers instead. There is an excellent sequence in the beginning with the accident on the road. The friendship of Lex Luthor and Clark Kent now shows some lies and omission of information from Lex. I am impressed with this series, since all the episodes are very good. My vote is nine.

Ghost in the Cabinet
NickBOKC2 December 2019
After Jonathan came down from his nap, he was with Martha in the dining area. If you look to the left, you can see the wooden cabinet doors open by themselves. I look for details but wasn't expecting that. Any explanations? Other than that ghost in the cabinet, this was a decent episode.

Hey, Lana Finally Goes After Clark!
gab-1471228 December 2021
"Nicodemus" is a very fun episode of Smallville. The episode is all about love, attraction, and sex. Of course, she is affected by an enhanced flower, but we finally get to see Lana attempt to seduce Clark...and the audience in the process. I am sure someone out there was waiting for this to happen (although under false pretenses). Chloe admitted to Clark's face that he, Clark Kent, is the man of her dreams. Although, he was pretty clueless. Don't sweat it, dude. That was me in high school with the ladies. Also, Clark's friendship with Lex is tested because for the first time, the man flat out lied to Clark's face. In terms of plot development, the episode does not do much. But it is one of the most entertaining of the season to this date.

A LutherCorp employee, James Beale steals an experimental flower laced with meteor rock from Dr. Steven Hamilton. He crashes his truck and is rescued by Jonathan Kent. When the flower unleashes its pollen on Jonathan's face, his repressed desires come out. His sexual feelings towards Martha and anger towards the Luthors are put on display, but later falls into a coma. Lana becomes affected after she breaks up with Whitney and goes after Clark. Pete also becomes affected. Clark and Lex have to track down the source, but Lex does not let Clark know that Hamilton works for him.

This is a great episode that sees Lana take on an alternate personality, which created some highly amusing scenes. Lex is on his way to becoming the villain and lying to Clark does him no favors. With Lana acting strangely towards Clark, and Chloe feeling things about Clark, Clark might have a lady in the near future?

My Grade: A-

It's OK, but rather ridiculous
Rcwilkinson12314 September 2007
"Smallville" has one of its weaker episodes of Season 1 in "Nicodemus." Still enjoyable on a lower level, but this episode does nothing to progress Clark's journey of self-discovery.

A flower induced with the mysterious green toxin is stolen from Lex. As the thief runs, he gets in a wreck. However, Jonathan saves him. The flower, like an allergy, affects those who come in contact with it to magnify their desires. The flower also affects Lana. Unfortunately for Clark her desires, like if someone was being hypnotized, are simply enhanced by the flower.

Let's move on to next week.

A poisonous flower poisons this episode.
zoe-girl-3215 July 2006
"Nicodemus" is almost a copy of "Red" in the odd behavior sense, but this episode focuses on other people in Clark Kent's unpredictable life. When a poisonous flower finds it's way into Smallville Jonathan Kent is the first to be effected by it. the flower causes people to reverse their behavior and when it effects Jonathan, he becomes short tempered and violent, however Clark manages to stop him from doing anything rash until his father finally passes out. okay. so far, so good. next up is Lana. the Episode was good up to that point, for the flower causes her to attempt seducing Clark. at the last moment, he refuses her but the damage has already been done. this episode causes the wrong impressions and isn't suitable for people under the age of twenty, due to it's adult content. the first part was good, the last part (focusing on the effect the flower has on Pete) was good, but the middle that was all about Lana's alternate personality, was most defiantly not, and that ruined what could have been a brilliant Episode. I give this Episode two.
