As idiotic a story as it is brilliant

Warning: Spoilers
I have had a bit of complaint towards the eight season, in how some of the individual stories in an episode do not really merge together at some point during the episode. "The Nap" is quite the contrary; each story complements the other in such wondrous ways that the end product is an episode that goes right back to the days of the great Larry David.

George, in one of the character's funniest story lines in the season thus far, decides to sleep under his desk. Pure genius! He even goes out of his way to get his desk modified to allow more space to sleep comfortably. Again, genius! But his comfort and solitude may be short lived when Steinbrenner uncovers something.

The story was genius every step of the way. Each scene featured something to truly laugh at, whether it was Larry David's hilarious voice acting for Steinbrenner or George's stupidity. The story took a few twists that I did not expect prior to watching the episode, but they each enhanced the quality of the story.

Kramer's pool story was perfectly in line with the character's many oddities. Elaine's story was again funny, proving just how great it is to laugh at this character! Jerry's story was the surprising part, because I enjoyed it quite a lot. The new design of the apartment was a highlight, and each character's reaction to it was phenomenal!

Although I love the final scene of the episode, where George is found sleeping in one of Jerry's drawers, Seinfeld's final line was poorly delivered. Nevertheless, it was still a hilarious moment in spite of the over the top acting!

"The Nap" is phenomenal as far as "Seinfeld" episodes are concerned. George's story is as good as it was in "The Little Kicks" and "The Comeback" and Jason Alexander is especially brilliant here.

Funny to the End

So people give this a one? Once again they have kept the incredible humor going through eight seasons. This one was just hilarious, beginning with the laziest, most entitled person on the face of the Earth, George Costanza. He actually hires Jerry's carpenter to build him a little bedroom under his desk. That way he can be in his office and sleep. Meanwhile, Kramer is into swimming and chooses the filthy East River. Then there is the traveling mattress which smells awful. There is a great scene when George Steinbrenner believes that George's alarm clock, ticking in his desk, is a bomb. Jerry makes terrorist threats to the Yankees to keep George from losing his job.

George Catches Some Zzzz's
Samuel-Shovel24 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
In "The Nap", George builds a nap space under his desk at work. This becomes an issue when George Steinbrenner mistakes the noise from a hidden alarm clock for a bomb. Kramer is fed up with crowded lap pools so he starts swimming in the highly polluted East River. Elaine dates a man who replaces her matress. A handyman redoes Jerry's kitchen, changing the entire layout.

This is one of those episodes that has one great subplot (George's nap desk) with a trio of mediocre ones. George and Steinbrenner's back and forths are always great and we get a lot of those here. But in regards to the other main characters, none of their story threads get many laughs out of me. This all combines to makes this a fairly forgettable episode.

George in the house

Warning: Spoilers
George comes up with an idea where he can sleep beneath his desk, and interestingly, I remember one of my work colleagues doing the same thing, so perhaps life is like art or something like that. Anyway, I'm enjoying reflecting on and re-watching many episodes of Seinfeld, having first watched it when it debuted in the early 1990s, and it's cultural impact lives on, and even many academic journals write about Seinfeld.

Larry David returns as the voice of George Steinbrenner, and Mitch Mitchell plays George Steinbrenner himself. Anyway, I would have loved for George Steinbrenner, the real one, to make a cameo appearance as a grumpy fan or something like that init.

Lost two points because of the dog. It looked gross.

March 15th of the year 2023rd

What is this Episode about: George takes a nap.

Jerry renovates his apartment

Kramer swims

Elaine smells a mattress.

Story and production: Yup. From the about that is what happens. It's a weak episode. Thankfully, Elaine was not a Bword in this.

George storyline was hash. With all the bomb stuff it took me away from the episode.

Kramer swimming. Who cares.

The only interesting piece was Jerry verse Conrad and the renovated apartment.

Everyone else's stories were hash and primitive. It had no spunk of season 1 to 6.

Laugh meter: 3.

Villain: N/A

What can be learned?: Swim and Sleep

Verdict: Not even this boring episode can put me to sleep.
