In a Cornish pub Captain Bill Williams regales Simon Templar about stories of lost treasure in the Caribbean on a stormy night. In fact he has written a book about it under a pseudonym.
April Mallory who Williams has raised like his own daughter tells Simon that Williams has been very pensive recently.
Later that evening, sinister Jim Reston arrives. He served with Williams on his ship. He claims to know some darks secrets about Williams and wants to know the whereabouts of a map.
In a struggle Williams is shot dead, Reston rushes off and Simon Templar is shown where a piece of the map is. It leads to buried treasure of a famous pirate.
Coincidentally the Saint meets Duncan Rawl and Jack Forrest who also each have a third of the map. Together with April and a woman called Maria, they end up on a treasure hunt in the West Indies. The Saint is sure that one of them is setting a trap. Only the pirate also left a few traps behind as well.
A dash of Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones on an ITC budget. There is plenty of back projection. Also some good action scenes for the Saint. A bit of silliness here and there. Not sure why April and Maria needed to be there apart from screaming.
This was the last of the black and white episodes of The Saint.
