Molten Steele
Prismark1014 February 2019
Emily Dumont is a socialite with a wealthy businessman husband who has been neglecting her.

She is being pestered by kinky phone calls. She thinks a former toyboy, a German mechanic she had a dalliance with has placed her details in a swingers magazine. He wanted money from her and she refused to pay it.

She is embarrassed her husband will find out and has called in Laura and Remington Steele.

A racy episode with Laura pretending that her boyfriend is calling her when Emily's husband comes into the house.

However Remington and Laura discover that several women in Emily's circles have had blackmail demands made on them. When the German mechanic isr found dead,Emily becomes a suspect. Remington needs to find out if the other women had empty marriages as well.

Laura is surprised when Remington demonstrates that he can fly a helicopter. A nice episode where Emily and her husband regret that they became distant from each other. I did find that the reason why the mechanic was killed was a bit throwaway and could easily be missed.

Not for those who prefer the funny ones

Desperate housewives, indeed, as socialite women turn a mechanic into the local boytoy and then become targets for blackmail--or suffer terrible but somewhat humorous consequences.

Then the alleged blackmailer turns up dead. Is he a one-man band or does it run more deeply? What do you think?

This is a rather unsavory episode with serious rather than tongue-in-cheek suspense. Its humor is forced and occasionally causes revulsion. For instance, I've never been in an adult bookstore for a reason. I don't want to visit one vicariously through Steele in disguise.

It may appeal to those who prefer the serious side of Steele. Or those more conversant with adult bookstores.
