Gil Favor as ramrod
bkoganbing6 April 2019
Putting together a new herd in San Antonio, Eric Fleming is reduced to being ramrod as majority owner John Dehner decides he's going to be trail boss. It's the only way Fleming can save the jobs of his regular crew. They're not happy with it, but they go along especially Clint Eastwood busted from ramrod to regular drover.

Dehner has a much younger wife in Jan Harrison who has a roving eye. Some adult issues here. She first looks at Rowdy Yates, but Clint Eastwood doesn't fall for it. Then she sets her sights on Burt Douglas one of Dehner's hands along for the drive.

And then there's the normal problem of two trail bosses on the drive before all the personal stuff comes in.

Nice performance by Dehner as a man fighting unsuccessfully middle age creeping up.

Wing Ding

Warning: Spoilers
Overall a good episode, even if it was a little predictable. Dehner is a great character actor who appeared in almost every Western, as well as, most other TV shows in the 50's, 60's and 70's. Eastwood is particularly good in this episode. There is one very disturbing scene where they have to shoot 50 steers who got bogged down. I'm sure PETA would have an issue with they scene is it was done today. Definitely it was a different era, both in Wild West and in TC. One inaccuracy that occurs in the show is when Dehner uses the term 'Wing Ding' to describe a dance. The term originated in 1927 with hobos.
