Featuring Johnny Carson....just not THE Johnny Carson!
planktonrules19 June 2021
"Crash Out" is a very strange episode of "Public Defender"....quite unlike the rest and also one that might be an ethics violation for the star, Bart Matthews (Reed Hadley).

Bill Carson and his partner in crime are confronted by a couple cops and Bill murders one of them by shooting him in the back. But in the process he's shot in the arm, so he rushes home and shoots himself....and plans on telling the cops he did it while cleaning his gun. To make this ridiculous alibi work, he convinces his brother, Johnny, to lie for him.

When Bart (Reed Hadley) takes on Bill's case, he spends much of the show trying to destroy Bill's alibi because he knows his client is lying. I cannot imagine any defense lawyer doing this, but what follows is a very interesting story, as Bart is concerned that Johnny will follow in his brother's steps unless they can somehow get him to commit to a life of honesty and decency.

Overall, it's very hard to believe but also very interesting and well worth seeing.
