Gloria (Lois Nettleton) has a violent and abusive boyfriend. After a particularly violent outburst, she leaves and runs to her apartment. Soon this boyfriend arrives...pounding on the door like a madman and demanding to be allowed inside the place. Eventually, he smashes the door in and a shot rang out...and you assume she shot him. However, when no one yet realizes is that there IS a witness....but it was a cat burglar in her apartment! And, he's not about to go to the authorities to tell him what he saw. To make it worse, there might be a mob connection...and the mob makes it very clear that if Petrocelli works this angle, he's a dead man! With this and a not totally cooperative client, what's Petrocelli to do?!
This is an interesting mystery and it's original and worth seeing. One of the better episodes.
By the way, I am not a gun expert but do know enough to say that the gun Nettleton was holding had, at most, one bullet in the gun....you could see all the chambers were empty, though you cannot tell if perhaps one had a bullet.
