Nancy Walker--A Blast From the Past
Hitchcoc6 April 2023
Nancy Walker plays Joanna's caustic aunt. She thinks Joanna made a big mistake when she married Dick. So she does everything she can to make life miserable for our hero (I have to admit that there are a lot of times I wonder how they ever got married). She paints a really unbecoming portrait of the D & J and it ends up over the fireplace in the lobby. There is some sparring that goes on but it turns out that the two adversaries really sort of like each other. In other stuff, the boys liquidate everything they own and buy a Rolls Royce and take pictures of people in front of it in various poses. Average episode.

Legendary Nancy Walker makes a visit
OldMovieRob20 June 2023
I loved seeing actress Nancy Walker make a visit in this episode. She really doesn't care much for Dick and doesn't understand why Joanna chose to marry him (neither do I for that matter, as he never seems to treat her as well as he should in this series), and the highlight of the episode is the ridiculous painting she brings, one depicting Joanna as the beautiful woman she is and Dick beside her as the dour old grump, complete with white hair, bulging stomach and grumpy expression, somewhat resembling Ben Franklin. This painting alone is worth checking out this episode to see. Like other episodes of this season, it does start to feel like the formula is growing thin and the series is nearing an end.

Nancy Walker guest stars

Joanna's Aunt Louise visits. She never approved of Dick and wants to break up their marriage.

A pretty good episode and Walker is well cast as Aunt Louise, she was best known in the 1970s as Rhoda's nagging mother on "Mary Tyler Moore" and "Rhoda". The funniest moment is a portrait of a young Joanna and and old, fat version of Dick. Some subplots include Larry and the Darryls buying a Rolls Royce and Michael and Stephanie considering living on a budget.
