Revenge is the Word!
Sylviastel14 June 2009
Bud would love nothing more than to revenge against the girl who had his underwear up the flagpole at school in a humiliating and embarrassing act. So he has devised a plan for her dress to go up like Marilyn Monroe at the dance and everybody gets to see her underwear. At the same time, Al is giving a speech at his high school. The plan backfires when the girl already has decided to torment Bud once more. But she'll get the last laugh because Kelly and Bud devise a plan of their own for revenge. In this episode, Marcy gets the embarrassment of a lifetime when she's noticed for all the wrong reasons. The final scene is unforgettable and if not the perfect revenge against such cruel behavior.

Bundy love is a many sickening thing...
arthur_nonimus29 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
The two Bundy kids have for years now been insulting, assulting and one upping each other. But woah betide anyone else who tries it for themselves.

The time for the school dance is here and Bud, who was humiliated by a girl years before, plots for revenge. He plays it smooth, cool, and just touch too sickeningly romantic in an attempt to get this girl to the dance. The trap is set and everything seems to be ready but Bud can't go through with it. However the girl has no such compunction and humiliates him in the exact same way again. It is here that we see that the Bundy's, despite their callous tounges, may just actually love each other. Kelly, standing up to defend Bud's ... umm ... honour, takes revenge on her, promising no one will be talking about what happened during the dance come the next day.

With a side story about Al being chosen sixth (becuase everyone else was too busy) to introduce the MVP but instead turning it into an hours long ditribe against marriage, this episode not only has the classic Bundy humor but also has some genuine heart to it, if only in the form of another joke.

Revenge is never a good thing.

I understand that Bud Bundy was humiliated by a girl in the 6th grade and wanted revenge very badly. However, I completely disagree. Revenge is never a good thing at all. It only cause more pain and suffering. I myself have been treated badly a few times and never thought about getting revenge. Instead I turned the other cheek. As for Bud Bundy being humiliated, he could've dealt with the girl in a better and decent way like tell her what she did was wrong and tell her that she should apologize for what she did to him. As the old saying goes, "What goes around, comes around." In other words, Karma!!

Remember: revenge is good. And if possible, do it twice.

Although the plot for this episode is nothing special -- Al is invited to make a speech at the Polk High homecoming dance and Bud plots revenge on a girl who humiliated him -- the excellent script more than makes up for the ho-hum premise, delivering some cracking lines of dialogue, especially for Bud ("Good one, human trampoline", "I am at the zenith of my studliness", "Not quite, she whose head can never be seen in a car").

Furthermore, we get Tiffany-Amber Thiessen (from Saved by the Bell) as Heather McCoy, the pretty girl Bud wants to get even with, and a touching finale in which Kelly shows herself to be protective of her brother, who sadly didn't learn his lesson the first time around.
