I like this comic episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Squeeze play starts out with a card game and Robin Masters and a Playboy type of guy. A loud over the top playboy is right out of a pulp fiction novel. Robin nest and Higgen's will be destroyed if Robin loses the card game as the bet is upped to include Robin nest. After the lost the bet is doubled with Magnum's baseball team vs the playboys team. Magnum needs to find a ringer to help. The over top Pulp Fiction turns into a comedy. I will not ruin the episode, but one the most fun episode to watch. 8 stars.

Higgins is NOT Robin

I don't know what happened in the last few seasons of this show but they started to go off about how Magnum thought Higgins was really Robin Masters. But EVERYTHING in the 1st season debunks this starting with Episdode 1 where Tom explains he spoke directly to Robin, and then there is THIS episode where both Robin Masters himself appears with Higgins in front of witnesses including someone who knows for a FACT That that particular person is indeed Robin Masters as he helped launch his writing career.

I can only guess that the show runners and or writers all forgot all this stuff when they came up with this 'Who is Robin Masters' plotline.

Lots of fun

Warning: Spoilers
This is a warm-hearted episode of Magnum where we finally resolve the question of whether Higgins and Robin are one and the same. They aren't. In fact in the final scene you see Robin appear in the same scene as Higgins so please, that's resolved.

Robin is voiced by Orson Welles, and it's a shame Orson didn't make an on-camera appearance himself.

Here the subject is softball, and it reminded me of the WKRP Cincinnati episode about the famous softball match.

This is a light-hearted episode, and whilst it's not for everyone, it's a great way to pass the day. It's interesting that the user reviews are only from the past three years, showing that Magnum, P. I. is timeless.

Not good

Warning: Spoilers
Generally, I actually prefer the comedy episodes of Magnum over the serious ones, but not in this case. To me, this isn't a comedy episode of Magnum, but rather a condensed version of the American underdog sports films that were so popular in the 70s and 80s. Apart from the main characters, there's nothing in this episode that is 'Magnum.' I guess I should have realised this right at the opening credits when I saw the names Brian Deezen and Donna Zipp, whom I mostly know for playing complete and utter idiots - he in Grease and she in Murder, She Wrote. It was a sign that the episode was going to be over-the-top campy and insubstantial. And it was.

The episode also displays another negative aspect of 80s TV, when scriptwriters could shamelessly have female characters come out with lines like (paraphrasing), "My ex is a drunk who cheated on me continuously throughout our marriage and won't pay the alimony he owes me, but God I still love him so." Did 80s audiences actually root for a reconciliation for such couples? At least we didn't get that far this time.

Skip this parody of Magnum, PI

Skip this parody of Magnum, PI, which is at least in the top three worst episodes up to this point. An animated episode would have been more appropriate.
