A very famous Ernest Hemingway type war correspondent, Clayton Kibbee, shows up at the MASH. Men and women fawn all over him, wanting his attention. He has a gimmick going. He has brought six pints of blood from the states and plans to write about the people who are being given that blood. Unfortunately, the first soldier to receive his contribution was injured when he hit a rock and fell off his motorcycle. The second was using a hand grenade in a fishing pond. His buddy slipped and he ended shrapnel in his leg. What happens that truly annoys Hawkeye, is that Kibbee takes these events and totally fictionalizes them to make the men look like heroes. In a sidebar, the motorcycle guy gives B.J. the bike, not wanting to ever get on it again. B.J. fixes it up and the big showoff takes off on it one morning with unfortunate results. The point of this is, of course, that writers like this guy glorify war and make it seem glamorous and desirable to young kids. Two of the injured recognize his name immediately.

Here Hawkeye gets in a tiff because legendary war correspondent Clayton Kibbee engages in a bit of fake news to glorify war. Rita Wilson (six years before she married Tom Hanks) makes a guest appearance as one of the nurses.
B.J. gets excited when he takes ownership of a motorbike formerly owned by a soldier, and this is a taste of the final scene of Goodbye, Farewell and Amen where we see B.J. riding off after giving a very emotional sendoff to Hawkeye.
