Island Blues

This is part two in the second two parter of the show and this is another of my favorite episodes of the show. Personally, I like part two a lot more because things got even funnier; this episode is one of those cases where a follow-up can be a lot stronger than the buildup.

There are some funny moments like one with sister Ethel who is confusing the Lubick babes with some other girls, this of course is just part of the subplot build up on Graham and Elizabeth finding out.

But of course, were all here for Lubick babes in the Virgin Islands. We see Connie, Wendy, and Cindy having their fun on the islands, but the real highlight is both Marie and Doozler. I really like the use of Doozler in this two parter where he's elevated from stand in supporting character to actual support, which makes me a little sad as this felt like a taste of what's to come for the next season which never happened.

Marie and even Doozler we see catch onto the lies and manipulation that Wendy put on both to go on the free trip. We see that Marie launches a scheme to get back at her and her sisters and it's just funny once again seeing that devious side to Marie and probably can outdo Wendy on the scam department anytime if she wants. Doozler willfully helps because he really like Marie, and this is probably one of the only times he'll ever be close and interact with her.

Marie and Doozler put on an act that both did well let's just say business together. It's just funny how much all three sisters negatively react and there are just some memorable lines from Marie along with the sisters. Even like that montage where we see both Marie and Doozler put on more of the act as we see both are having a good time on the beach together, while the sisters are nauseating. From how that montage went it didn't all feel like an act as both of them really we're having a good time together, once again felt like a taste of what was to come; not saying both would be a couple (though they could if the cards are played just right) but maybe we would see some sort of friendship between both of them develop; I don't know sadly only fanfiction can make this possible.

It comes down to the jet plane ride home which was a slightly hilarious payoff as we see once again Marie and Doozler just give the scam more altitude. It would have been nice in the final minutes of the episode to see both Marie and Doozler have one more private moment, where we see both become friends or at least a hint of hope that both have formed a bond that could be something more in the future, I don't know this was just a little quibble I had with the episode nothing more.

It's true that Marie may slightly pay the price for her scam, but in her case it was a small price to pay to see the grief on her sisters faces and for a great time in paradise.

Rating: 4 stars.
