Gleason at his best!
bobkoshinski7 November 2022
Jackie Gleason was superb at playing his various character roles and creating a sense of excitement for a holiday party the viewer never actually sees. The program also captures a time when city streets were jammed with expectation and last minute shopping on Christmas Eve which includes the simple Kramden couple.

Gleason weaves a storyline that includes humor and a sentimental feel for the holiday. His portrayal of the "poor soul" is a highlight that shows his ability to go from a loud buffoon to a touching everyman. This program has had too few airings and is one the best "special" Honeymooners episodes.

An Annual Event

This entire episode is identical to two others I have reviewed. The only difference is the appearance of Eddie Hodges, who shrieks and yells a supposed song. I guess later he became a rock singer or something. Otherwise, there are all the Gleason characters who parade through in the me plot I've done twice before. Although, to see Gleason dance as Reginald Van Gleason is a joy.
