"There Goes the Bride" marked the first of three episodes actually directed by Larry Hagman himself, followed by "The Birds and the Bees Bit" and "Jeannie and the Great Bank Robbery." Tony is the best man at a fellow astronaut's wedding, which puts Jeannie in the mood to make it a double. Roger offers up a few tips that aren't helpful, such as playing hard to get. Jeannie remembers one way to get her master to change his mind, a dangerous spell that has never been known to fail. Instantly, Tony grabs her and proclaims their impending nuptials when he returns from his latest mission. It's the sudden appearance of Haji (Abraham Sofaer), king of all the genies (first mentioned in "There Goes the Best Genie I Ever Had"), that spells doom for the lovesick Jeannie, demanding that she reverse the spell that she has cast over her master or face the terrible consequences. This storyline would continue in the next entry directed by Hagman, Sofaer returning as Haji twice more.
