Most people don't realize that Inga Swenson of "Benson" fame had a very versatile career, mainly as a musical comedy actress, but was a far cry from the cranky cook who became Robert Guillaume's nemesis. Just like "Alice" co-star Polly Holliday, she was one of Rose's sisters. Unlike Holliday, whose character was physically blind, Swenson here is emotionally blind to other people's emotions, betraying her sister every chance she gets and even seducing Blanche's latest boyfriend. It's up to Rose to expose Swenson for the phony that she is, but in a way that leaves the possibilities for the two to eventually make amends, a situation that never occurred on screen.
Meanwhile, Sophia's babysitting Dreyfuss, the neighbor's dog (a regular on "Empty Best") and at one point loses him. Determined not to get into trouble, Sophia gets a lookalike dog but Dreyfuss returns. Sophia learns to her shock that Rose actually is more intelligent than she thinks. Well balanced and funny, with Swenson glamorous yet conniving. It's too bad this wasn't a two part episode so there could be more of an explanation into Rose and sister Holly's relationship.
