The One with Chandler in a Box
ComedyFan201025 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
It seems that Thanksgiving episodes of Friends are the best ones. There is pretty much everything perfect in this one. The best part is of course the Joey and Chandler story. It is an absolutely perfect ending to their fight. Joey sentences Chandler to sit in the box all night to do some thinking, just like he did when he got locked in the entertainment centre. This is a crazy idea which makes it so much fun, and the ending, where Kathy comes to say good bye to him and he doesn't reply because Joey didn't want him to talk and his friendship means so much to Chandler, is absolutely sweet

It is also fun to see Monica trying to hook up with Richard's son. I am glad it was just a one episode thing though, I wouldn't like them together.

And special mention is to Rachel showing all the things she kept that meant a lot to her, including a museum bone. I was one of the funniest parts of the episode for me

The One With The Thanksgiving Dinner...
taylorkingston31 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I love this episode. It is one of my all-time favorite episodes. Not just from Season 4, but from the entire series. It's one of the best Thanksgiving episodes, and it really is just fantastic.

In this episode, it's Thanksgiving, and as always, Monica is hosting Thanksgiving dinner. Since Joey is still made at Chandler for kissing Kathy, he says that the only way he'll forgive him is if he spends the day in a large box. Not speaking, not communicating with anyone. So Chandler gets in the box. But when Kathy comes to break up with him, because she feels guilty about breaking their friendship, Joey forgives Chandler and tells him to chase after her. Meanwhile, Monica gets ice in her eye and has to go see an eye doctor, but doesn't want to at first because her eye doctor is her ex-boyfriend, Richard. But they tell her she can see the on-call doctor, who turns out to be Richard's son.

Overall, I give this episode a 10 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Freaking Ridonkulous.

Top 10 Episode in the Series
sabian-3619915 March 2022
This is an episode that has it all. Very funny, and Poignant. Almost every line has comedic value.

Showing the deep friendship that Chandler and Joey have, on top of being another funny Thanksgiving episode.

Good episode

Warning: Spoilers
The storyline with Monica and Richard's son was the best one here. I didn't expect something to be related to Monica's relationship with Richard to be shown in the series after so much episode. It was funny and sweet at the same moment.

The Chandler\Joey storyline was really stroung and funny at places, but this time, I just felt like they were dragging it, and the box jokes just felt weird. However, it wasn't bad. I loved the ending and I hope to see more of Chandler and Kathy in future episodes.

Funniest episode EVER.
seven-johnson30 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Chandler or an actor plays a nearly incredibly life performance.

He walks the lines and snorts the crimes, pill-popping hard-popping Chandlers.

There are other actors too David Schwimmerer, Joby Swimmer and Muh Perry non-swimmer.

Mennifer Maniston and her jawline star too and she plays an interesting plot about dating some lead romance actors, but none of them want to give her a baby and then she gets too old for to have a baby. It is okay though as the lead romance actors go on to live happy lives without her and not be upstaged by her jawline.

No one intervenes and Chandler swim out to sea and join the Titanic millionaire, but it's okay they were doing well out of James Cameron money.

Will done Friends, you hit this one out the parks.

This is the one with the ick factor....
stevenjlowe8214 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So right off the bat the Monica and Tim thing is just icky. I was never a Monica and Richard fan and no not because of the age gap. He had been around her when she was a literal child so there is this prior relationship that was once more familial with him being one of her dad's closest friends so he was like an uncle of sorts. I just thought even back in the day when it first aired and I watched it, it was weird. But then to date his son is just cringy and icky and Phoebe's killer line "that's not how your dad used to do it" and Rachel calling it a Greek tragedy really summed it up well. In fact the episode seemed to acknowledge this which was kinda funny but makes me wonder why they decided to run with it. Obviously for the comedy but it's not a good look for Monica's character

Praise to Paget Brewster who I feel should have stuck around longer. Friends is very hit or miss with it's guest stars for me but she had great energy and chemistry with the cast. On the flip side the duller than dish dishwater Michael Vaughn delivered another flat and stiff performance and had zero chemistry with anybody never mind Monica. He was always one of the weakest elements in Alias and pretty much everything else I've seen him in. I know it's harsh but it is also true.

A kind of wacky Thanksgiving episode with people in boxes, ill judged relationship choices oh and Ross looking like a complete moron which is always nice.

A strong episode
studioAT11 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
As with a few episodes in the fourth series the other story lines pale in comparison to the one involving Joey and Chandler.

Yes, the story line involving Monica's new eye doctor being Richard's son has some laughs in it, but nothing really tops the hurt that Joey feels, or the longing to make up for it that Chandler feels, despite badly wanting to be with Kathy. The scenes are expertly played by Matt Le Blanc and Matthew Perry.

The fourth series of 'Friends' was such a strong one, partly because it had so much going on from start to finish, and this was a good Thanksgiving episode.

Joey's a hypocrite
robertm-8532321 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
He's sleeping with two different women, Chandler erroneously calls Kathy his "girl friend" - WTF? He's on a date with someone else and, let's me honest, he's probably sleeping with both. And he gets bent out of shape because Chandler kisses ONE of the TWO he's sleeping with???? Give me a frickin' break. Such hypocrasy it's not even funny. The other stuff in the episode helps, but what Chandler goes through is just ridiculous.

The whole idea of Monica going out with Richard's son is funny. It's just plain weird that she'd go out with his son, and say he kisses like his dad, and Richard's son says she reminds him of his mom. How could that get wierder?

Funny BUT
twanster-9765517 January 2022
This could have been a classic episode, Chandler steals the show again with his comedy, but the absolutely pointless part where Monica dates Richards son really sucks the potential out of it.. what a pointless thing for the writers todo. Just like when Rachel got with Tag it makes you want to skip them episodes/parts to get back to the comedy.
