I love a good fat joke when it is clever rather than just rude, but the Mason episode isn't really funny. The writers and character actor Walter Olkewicz try too hard to get laughs, but sympathetic chuckles don't warrant quality. He overcompensates for his weight issue with snobbery and the audience is expected to like him as he becomes nasty in his way of defending himself. The minor story of Suzanne dealing with unseen (but heard) temperamental maid Consuela. Charlene tells her southern woman in NY joke for the first time, and it's obvious that the actors were directed to laugh profusely even though they didn't find it funny. This is one episode which I skip through without regrets.
